The 10 things I like about you, Wanda

Mom has received sooo many cards since she has been ill. Well over two hundred I’m sure. Each one is special and I know they are praying for her to be healed.

Today we got the usual cards but  we also got a letter. People just don’t write letters anymore. At least I didn’t think they did. It was such a sweet letter I wanted to share it with you. I think it will give you a glimpse of my Mom.

Dear Wanda,

I dreamed about you a few nights ago. And in that dream, I was sitting beside you holding your hand. I was telling you all the things that I like about you.

I thought I should write them down—and send them your way.

I like your cheerfulness and sweet spirit.

I like the way you take the high road when other ways look easier.

I like the lipstick you left by the sink at church for those last minute touch ups. ( Mom was a church secretary)

I like your funny nature and your willingness to tackle new things.

I like your persistence.

I like the way you want everyone to “get along with each other”.

I like the way you love your family—your husband, children, their spouses and your grandchildren.

I like the way you put others first. You are a very loving, giving and gentle person.

I like your spunk.

But most of all, Wanda, I like your commitment to our Savior. Your trust in Him is apparent in all that you do. I’m sure that this love and trust will help you through this most difficult twist in your life.

I wanted to title this note to you, “ The 10 things I Like About You, Wanda.” I’m cutting it short at just 10 things, but the message is there. I love and miss you and hope you’re doing okay. Please know that I think about you and pray for you often. Who knows….maybe I’ll see you in my dreams again soon—You Looked Great!!

Mom is all that and more.If I could be half the woman that my Mom is………

Blessings to you,

Cyndi

  1. This is beautiful. After reading this, I can just feel Wanda giving me a kleenex to dry my tears. She was certainly an amazing lady who touched my life for just a little while but made a wonderful impact.

  2. Cyndi,

Thanks for stopping by my blog. It’s nice to “meet” you:)

From reading your blog it looks like you have an amazing and wonderful family! So sorry to read about all that is going on with you mom. From the letter she sounds like a woman who has left quite a mark on the people around her.

I will be praying for you and your family.

  3. What an amazing hertiage…your Mom has laid out before you! I can honestly see your Mom’s beauty, through you and your sister.

You TRULY have an AMAZING family!

Know that I’m lifting you ALL up, in much prayer.

    Kim~

  4. What a wonderful mom you have! My mom is a believer as well and I so appreciate the foundation in Christ that she gave us growing up.

She lives with us now (she moved in after my dad went Home to be with the Lord) and daily I can hear her reading the Word out loud.

  5. What a wonderful letter! All 10 of those things are so true. And you know we could come up with a million more.
Mom is one of a kind!
    Love you,
    Traci
