Mom Knew Her Purpose……

Happy Birthday Mom!!

Today is Mom’s birthday and I have to admit I wish she was here to celebrate it.

Some days it’s still hard for me to believe that she’s gone.

It’s a reminder to me that life is short and we are here for a purpose.

Mom knew her purpose and she lived her life sharing her love for Jesus.

If you had met my Mom it wouldn’t have taken you long to see it.

She loved Jesus and it was evident even while she was facing death.

Mom is missed more than words can describe but her love for Jesus and her family lives on.

Before Mom passed away one of her sweet co-workers at the church she worked at sent her a letter.

It says so much of who Mom was so I wanted to share it with you today.

Here’s the letter:

Dear Wanda,

I dreamed about you a few nights ago. And in that dream, I was sitting beside you holding your hand. I was telling you all the things that I like about you.

I thought I should write them down—and send them your way.

I like your cheerfulness and sweet spirit.

I like the way you take the high road when other ways look easier.

I like the lipstick you left by the sink at church for those last minute touch ups.

I like your funny nature and your willingness to tackle new things.

I like your persistence.

I like the way you want everyone to “get along with each other”.

I like the way you love your family—your husband, children, their spouses and your grandchildren.

I like the way you put others first. You are a very loving, giving and gentle person.

I like your spunk.

But most of all, Wanda, I like your commitment to our Savior. Your trust in Him is apparent in all that you do. I’m sure that this love and trust will help you through this most difficult twist in your life.

I wanted to title this note to you, “ The 10 things I Like About You, Wanda.” I’m cutting it short at just 10 things, but the message is there. I love and miss you and hope you’re doing okay. Please know that I think about you and pray for you often. Who knows….maybe I’ll see you in my dreams again soon—You Looked Great!!

Thanks for letting me share some of my heart today.

I’m so thankful that I know Mom is spending her birthday in heaven.

I love you Mom!!!

  1. Your mom is such a wonderful person. What a great example she was of the fact that eternal life begins NOW! She knew that she was already living with Jesus, even though for a while her body was on this earth. Now she’s with Jesus body and soul, and what a wonderful time she must be having! I know you miss her terribly, and I’m so sorry for your loss. I thank you for sharing her with us here! 🙂

    Love you!

  2. That is the sweetest letter, sent me to tears at Dear Wanda, and I didn’t even know your dear mom. Thank you so much for sharing, so glad I came across your blog. May the Lord comfort you with his Spirit xx

  3. Cyndi, I know days like this are tough for you and your family. Your mom had to be one of the most dedicated Christian women. I have enjoyed so much reading about her on yours and your sister’s blogs. By the way, I have to tell you this. I have been following Traci’s blog now for a couple of years and I have always thought she lived on the other side of the state. Well, I found out different when I saw her at Lowes a couple weeks ago. We live less than five minutes from each other. Isn’t that funny! I still can’t get over that! Anyway, I feel like I have gotten to know you all through your blogs, and who knows maybe we’ll run into each other some day too. Gail
