Encouraging Words Wednesday and a Link Up

If you have followed my blog for very long you know my daughter Courtney is pregnant.

Here she is at 31 weeks………..

I can’t tell you how crazy it is to watch your daughter go through a pregnancy.

I still see her as a little girl playing dress up with her baby dolls

and now she’s going to have a REAL baby!

So many times during her pregnancy when her body has been changing,

she has looked at me with her big brown eyes and asked, “Mom, why didn’t you tell me?”

I’ve looked at her and said, “How could I tell you everything?”

Would any of us ever get pregnant?

It’s a journey, an amazing, miraculous, journey!

And all of us who are mothers, know that pregnancy is just the beginning of the journey.

So how do I tell her everything about this journey she’s embarking on?

~How do I tell her that the moment they place that precious baby boy in her arms

she will feel a love that she has never felt before?

~How do I tell her the joy she will experience as she watches this child crawl and then walk and then run?

~How do I tell her the feeling of hearing her baby say “MaMaMaMa” for the first time?

~How do I tell her the panic she will feel the first time her baby boy runs a fever?

~How do I tell her that he will grow quickly, and sooner than she is ready,

he will start school and her heart will ache as he leaves for his first day of kindergarden?

~How do I tell her she will spend many hours on her knees praying for protection as he begins to drive?

~How do I tell her what it feels like for her child to leave home and head to college after 18 years?

~How can I ever begin to tell her the love a Mama has for her child?

We as Mothers know it is a journey.

Courtney, my sweet daughter, you are embarking on the most amazing journey of your life…………..

It’s called Motherhood and I would not have missed it for the world!

“Don’t you see that children are God’s best gift? the fruit of the womb his generous legacy?” Psalm 127:3 The Message

*Courtney has been blogging about being a new wife and soon-to-be mother. You can find her blog here.

  1. Such sweet words, Cyndi and you are SO RIGHT! Being a mother is simply something that is so hard to comprehend and explain – you simply have to experience it!

  2. Cyndi,

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Your daughter is beautiful and will be a wonderful mama to your grandson, just as you were to her and your sweet mother was to you.

    Your Friend,
    Deborah

  3. What a beautiful post!! And everything you say is true!! I can’t believe how fast my kids are growing!! My oldest just turned 4 & my youngest will be a year next month!! I don’t know where the time has gone!! And now that I have two it just goes by even faster!

  4. Hey… thanks for stopping by my blog and linking up with ‘Inspire me’. How exciting for you a grand baby on the way. Looking forward to hearing more about this exciting venture.

  5. April this will be my first grandchild and I have heard it’s an amazing journey for grandparents too! I can’t wait to hold that baby boy!! Thanks for stopping by my blog!
    Blessings,
    Cyndi

  6. I don’t know if this will be your first grandchild, but if it is,according to my mom you are in for a wonderful journey too. People had always told her about how much you love grandchildren. She says there is nothing like it, it is an indescribable love. She has 11, so she knows! I just posted on your daughter’s blog. I have always been very close to my mom, but having kids made us even more close. I am a single mom and I couldn’t raise my kids without her. God bless!

  7. This post brought tears to my eyes! I am 35 weeks along with my 2nd child, myself. And everything you’ve said was beautiful! It made me think of my own Mama, as well as my 19 mos old daughter. What a WONDERFUL journey it is, of that you are correct! (I also have become closer to my mother as a result of becoming a mother myself. It’s amazing how that happens. I never fully understood the love my mother had for me until I held my own daughter in my arms…)
