Simply Sunday…The Lifter of My Head

The last few days have been a whirlwind and I’ve finally had a

few moments to sit and really soak it all in.

In case you have not heard by now or if this is the first time

you’re visiting my blog, we have a new member to our family!

Let me introduce you to Colt Allen Rogers, my grandson……..

(Allen is my Mom’s maiden name)

I am beyond in love!! and I can’t get enough of that heavenly scent!

My emotions this morning are a mess and of course a verse

from scripture keeps popping in my head, Psalm 3:3,

“But you, LORD, are a shield around me,

my glory, the One who lifts my head high.”

You see, two years ago today my heart was so heavy

I could hardly lift my head……..my sweet Mom

was dying from gastric cancer and we were celebrating

my Dad’s birthday knowing it was Mom’s last birthday with Dad.

The Lord was very much present with us during this time but oh the pain

of knowing we were losing Mom was almost unbearable.

But here’s what I’m continuing to learn……..sometimes going through

the pain makes the blessings in life so much sweeter.

I don’t take for granted the small stuff and I certainly don’t take

for granted the birth of a baby.

I can hear Mom saying, “Cyndi you’re going to be a great CiCi

and Colt Allen is a blessing and I told you to look for blessings

because their everywhere and make sure you tell Colt Allen

that Jesus loves him!” (okay I can hardly type through my tears)

Today as we celebrate my Dad’s 70th birthday and I go back to the

hospital and love on Colt Allen I will give all the glory to the

One who lifts my head high.

Here’s a few more pictures of our blessing…….

Thank you for stopping by and letting me share my heart!

  1. Congratulations!! You wrote you could hardly write this blog for the tears, I could hardly read it for my tears. Grandchildren are truly God’s Blessings (we have two blessings). Colt is so beautiful and what a head of hair (both of our grandchildren didn’t have much hair when they were born). You can’t begin to imagine how wonderful your life is going to be now that he is here. Be sure to spoil him each and every day. God Bless you and your whole famiily.

  2. He is just beautiful and you feel free to share your heart and plenty pictures as often as you like. I never get tired of seeing a precious gift from above. Enjoy that sweet sweet baby~

  4. Cyndi, he is sooooo beautiful! Congratulations! I hopped over from Traci’s blog and just put in my email address to subscribe and it worked! Woo hoo! You’re coming to my inbox now! : )

  5. Oh, Cyndi. Isn’t he beautiful? And doesn’t Courtney look absolutely smitten with her little one?

God is so good! You know, your capacity to feel joy is greater now than it used to be–the same heart that has experienced such pain can now experience joy in greater measure than you could have before 2009. I am so sorry for all the pain that you’ve gone through in losing your mom, but I am so glad that you’re able to feel so much immense joy!

God bless you all! Colt Allen, you are one precious boy!

  6. Oh so sweet! It’s hard to walk though seasons of pain, but after having gone through it, we are so much stronger. Your mama is smiling, beaming with JOY over this precious new life.

  7. Oh so precious, congratulations to you all! Love what you wrote, “sometimes going through the pain makes the blessings in life so much sweeter.”

Enjoy your sweet, wonderful blessing straight from God’s Hands.

  8. I thought of you and your family Friday as we were pulled over on the side of the road in who-knows-where Crimea making PB & J sandwiches for the kids- said a prayer and it looks like it was answered! 🙂 I appreciate the thougt you shared about how the trials make the blessings so much sweeter- so true! Congratulations!!!

  9. Congratulations! What a precious moment in your life, meeting your precious grandson. I have always been so blessed by the way you honor your mom. You have given us all such a clear and beautiful picture of the woman that she is. So precious that in your heart, you know that she is taking this all in with you and celebrating in glory! She’s right … what a wonderful Granny you are going to be to this sweet little boy! Biggest hugs xxx Janine

  10. Beautiful!! He is a handsome little man, so blessed to be born to your family. You will be amazed with each new day with him. I am so envious (but in a good way) that he is so close to you guys and you are going to be able to see all the wonderful things first hand that he will be learning and doing. Lots of love and hugs to you and Wayne.
