Let’s Talk Hair Today!

Good morning!

You guys are too sweet! You were so kind to me in your comments of my first hair style video tutorial.

Most of you even liked my “mid-life crisis” blond streak{wink}. I am going to keep it right now.

Many of you had questions that I didn’t think to tell you in my video. I was also trying to keep it as short as possible.

My attention span is short so I’m assuming most of you are like me, and time is an issue.

I’m going to do my best to answer your questions so if there’s something else you would like to know, just leave me a comment.

Here’s what I do and the products I use on my hair:

  • I do wash my hair every day. I use enough product in my hair that it looks better if I wash it. My hair is course and tends to be dry so I condition a lot. I wish I didn’t have to wash it everyday, but I do.
  • I get my hair cut and colored every 4-5 weeks. Because I blow dry and use a flat iron every day my hair usually needs a trim and I have enough gray hair {ahem} that I need the color.
  • I change my hair products at times but right now I’m using L’Oreal EverPure shampoo and conditioner. I’m using the smooth shampoo and conditioner.
  • I’m also using Paul Mitchell strength. It’s a Super Strong Liquid Treatment that strengthens and repairs and I need it. I spray it on my hair after I’ve washed and conditioned it. If you have dry hair and color your hair this stuff is great!
  • Aquage uplifting foam~this is what gives my hair lift. I started using it after I read The Small Things Blog and I love it! I can’t find it in my area, so I order it from ebay or Amazon. I’ve ordered from both. If you want volume this stuff really works!
  • Lastly, I use Kenra volume spray ( I have a thing for volume, have you noticed?). It holds your style but you can brush through it if you need to. It is good!

I hope this helps and again let me know if you have any other questions.

I would love to hear from you, what products do you use and really like?

Beauty For the Heart~~This month I’m teaching from Colossians in my Sunday School class. I love the book of Colossians and I praise the Lord for verses like Colossians 2:13,

“You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins.  He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross.”

Oh ladies our sins have been nailed to the cross! Let’s not live defeated lives because of Jesus Christ we can live victoriously!

  1. Hi Cyndi,
Could you please do a short video or give an explanation on how you style your bangs? That’s my biggest challenge in styling my hair.

    Blessings,
    Nancy

  2. Hey Lee Ann!
I got my flat iron at Wal-mart. It’s the Remington S9951 Ceramic Flat Iron, 1 inch. It has really good reviews and for the price I think it works great (I paid somewhere betwee 40 and 60 dollars, I can’t remember). I didn’t want to pay $100 or more for a Chi flat iron. The Remington has different heat settings like the Chi and heats up in 30 seconds. I use the 410 degrees.
    I hope that helps!

  3. I really like the Aquage but my daughter isn’t crazy about it. She doesn’t use any product in her hair except hairspray so she’s not use to it.
Looking forward to meeting you at BlissDom.

  4. Luckily, I don’t have any problems with my hair like I do my eye makeup! I don’t really have any MUST have products either. I finally got my hair colored two weeks ago for the first time in like 8 months…and a hair cut for the first time since thanksgiving. I just can’t find the time to get in to have it done. MY problem is finding a hairstyle that works with my super fine, pin straight hair.

  5. I wash my hair every other day, and still I deal with dry hair. My hair dresser told me it was the hot water. What? You mean I have to resort to taking luke warm showers? I don’t think I can. And I love the way Kenra products smell!

  6. Cyndi,
Wonderful video. I could also use a video on how you style your bangs – hint, hint… I am using all the products listed above, except the Paul Mitchell. I’ll give that a try as well. Thank you.

  7. Girl, you are such a beauty. I watched your video–every minute of it! I love the way you’re secure enough to spend the time taking care of yourself. Jack loves for me to care for myself and to make myself look nice; he never begrudges time or money spent in this way. But I tend to feel guilty about it. This is an area in which I need to grow. I need to remember that caring for myself is not selfishness; it’s taking care of me so that I can then be at my best to work for God! You know, you and I should do a seminar together. . .we’re a couple of pretty nice-looking middle-aged women (gasp!). Our stories are very different in some ways but in other ways very similar; mostly we both know how reliant we are on God’s grace! 🙂

    Love you!
