Here In The Love Of Christ I Stand

Today, I was going to share a little bit about gratitude with you because I’m teaching about it in Sunday School this morning.

But last night as I was scanning Pinterest (imagine that!) this phrase popped out at me~

I was reminded of a song that I absolutely love!

Songs bring back memories of what you were doing or where you were when you first heard them.

This song is special because I played it over and over, after my Mom passed away.

It reminds me of Mom and how her hope was in Christ!

One of the phrases says,

No guilt in life, no fear in death, This is the power of Christ in me.

From life’s first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny.

My Mom lived that out! She had no fear in death because she knew Christ was in control.

I’ve never shared Mom’s final moments on my blog, but it was such a privilege to be sitting,

holding Mom’s hand, while she took her final breath.

My sister and I were singing hymns and reading scripture.

She left us peacefully and entered into eternity with Christ!

Is your hope in Christ alone?

So beautiful. While she wasn’t my mother, my mother-in-law died in my care, we became very close, and I was sitting there singing to her when she died. She loved hymns, so I sung them to her whenever we were doing something difficult…cleaning her, changing her bedding, etc. What a privilege to be with someone you love when they pass. It stays with you always….the blessing and the perspective. Thanks for the reminder this morning! Lisa~

I had a similar experience when my father-in-law passed away. God used him in a might way to speak into people lives as they came to visit him on his death bed. We knew we were walking on holy ground, entering the thin places. Nice to meet you through Fresh Brewed Sundays.

That is my all-time favorite song. I pray it will be my life’s message to others. I also had the privilege of being with my mom as she was ushered into the presence of Jesus~so thankful I could share that moment with her.

Oh my heart. This is my FAVORITE hymn of all time. The first time that I heard it I cried – right there in church (and our congregation is a pretty stoic bunch, so emoting is NOT common). This song shares the core of faith, as well as our hope and confidence and change because of Christ! Happy Sunday!

When my grandmother was nearing her final days, she called for me to come one day. I sat by her bedside, praying with her, making sure she knew Christ in her heart (as my unsaved family looked on). It was a beautiful moment. I will always treasure those times God used me to be with her and speak words of comfort as she neared her final days. I was not there when she passed, but am so thankful for the imprint I was able to leave in her heart.

Oh Cyndi that is a great song. ~~No guilt in life. No fear in death.~~ That is my favorite line. I think I will be humming it now for the rest of the day. :) Thank you for sharing about your Mom. I’m sure that was difficult for you. I imagine that is the best way to enter into heavens gate–having loved ones reading scripture and singing hymns. What a cherished memory for you.

Cyndi, our “Fresh Fire” singing group will be singing this song next Sunday at church. I’ll think of you and your sweet mom as we perform it!
