Favorite Drugstore Makeup Finds

Good morning!

It’s Monday and it’s raining here, which would be great if I could stay

home all day, but unfortunately I have to head out to work.

Today I wanted to share three products I’ve recently tried. I purchased all of them

at our local CVS Pharmacy. They are easy to find and inexpensive. Yeah!

The great thing about purchasing them at CVS is, if I don’t like something,

I can return it and get my money back. Perfect!

  • Revlon Colorstay gel eyeliner.

I use brown and I love this product, because of the container.

The brush is stored in the top. It’s a great idea, because you don’t have to spend time

looking for your eyeliner brush each time you use it.

  • Maybelline New York Expert Wear Eyeshadow Duos in Browntones.

As we age, neutral colors look the best on us. I want my eyes to look good but I don’t

want to wear colors that are glittery or are going to show off my lines and wrinkles.

This is a beautiful neutral color. I use an off white eyeshadow over my entire lid

and then add both of these colors. It’s a very soft and natural look. Perfect for my age.

  • Maybelline New York Lash Discovery Washable Mascara in black.

This mascara is great for adding length to your lashes and the brush is small

for hard to reach lashes, like mine. I have short eyelashes and I don’t want to

wear mascara that will make them look clumpy. Love this mascara!

If you have a great drugstore find, please share it with us!

Beauty for the Heart~~“I could not help but think that somewhere along the way

we had missed what was radical about our faith and replaced it with

what is comfortable.” ~David Platt

I love that quote, I want to be radical with my faith, Jesus says in Luke 9:23,

“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take

up their cross daily and follow me.”

Let’s pick up our crosses and follow Jesus today!

  1. I have that same gel eyeliner but find that though I like it, I struggle with it getting on my eyelids before it’s dry. Have you experienced that at all?

  2. Hey Marilyn!
That was a great story! I love getting free make overs!! and it’s always good to see how they would do my makeup. I love makeup but I’m finding as I age, I need to make sure I don’t overdo it.
Oh the joys of aging! 🙂
I’m so glad you stopped by!! Have a great weekend!

  3. I just had to come back and comment on this post AFTER a trip to a department store last night for re-stocking. Now, I do love me some drug store cosmetics as well, but there are a couple of things that I use that can only be found in those department store. The one comment that struck me that you made was: “As we age, neutral colors look the best on us.”

Well the ladies at the department store asked if I was in a hurry, and would I like a free makeover. Now, who in their right mind is gonna pass up on “Free”? I already knew I was spending some money at this counter, so I wasn’t worried about high pressured sales. And frankly, I have never encountered that tactic at this particular place either, which I truly appreciate. So, I just let those two ladies just remove all my makeup and experiment with some products. Now you are never going to know if you like something unless you tried it, right? Anyway, I was really interested in my skin products that I was there to buy and they used those in addition to some new color for my skin (I am very fair) Then comes the eyeshadow…………………

The minute they were through and I looked in the mirror, all I could here in my head was your comment: “As we age, neutral colors look the best on us.” I was thinking Cindy is sooooo RIGHT! The girls at the cosmetic counter were sweet and great. I told them that it was not something I would wear, but that I did appreciate them experimenting. They were not offended in the least bit. They were so sweet and removed that eyeshadow and we toned it down A LOT! Because I did purchase a couple of items and probably because I was such a good sport about it and set there letting them experiment, I ended up with a handfull of samples! It was a fun few minutes and a free mini facial/makeover!

I just had to share that story about your comment. Love your blog and started following you and your sister!
    Have a super day!

  4. Good Morning, Cyndi,
I use both of these Maybelline products and love them both, too. The mascara is perfect for those tiny lashes in the corners. I am not very good at using liquid/gel liners, but I like that packaging! I may have to give it another try.
Have a wonderful, blessed day at work!

  5. I just started using the gel eyeliner and love it! I don’t wear eye shadow anymore and hardly ever wear mascara, although I should, but with my allergies I rub my eyes a lot so I’d end up looking like a raccoon!

    xoxo,
