Fashionable Christmas-Dresses

Hi friends! I’ve struggled writing this post. My heart is still so heavy over the loss of life. Funerals will begin today for the children and adults at Sandy Hook. I will continue to pray, and to beg for healing not only for the community of Sandy Hook but also for our nation.

Over the last week, I’ve been sharing ideas for a more Fashionable Christmas. Today is Day 8 and I’m sharing about my love of dresses.

12 Day To A More Fashionable Christmas

It seems these days that “casual” is fashionable and don’t get me wrong, I love dressing casual. But I like to dress up too!

Fashionable Christmas-dresses

My little black dress was purchased at TJ Maxx a couple of years ago and my red and black dress is Simply Vera Vera Wang that I also purchased a couple of years ago from Kohl’s.

I love classic dresses and this Houndstooth Dress is a classic.

This dress is trendy and I love the short boots. I’m hoping to add a pair of these boots to my winter wardrobe.

Cobalt blue is a fashionable color this season and wrap dresses are flattering for almost all figures.

  1. SO pretty, Cyndi. I just love dresses, even though I don’t love my legs.

That houndstooth dress is absolutely adorable. Now, question–the photo shows it with a natural leg and black heels. I think it looks great. Would it be better with black opaque tights? I love all your advice!

  2. Judith I’m sure you would look great in a dress. I do have to try on a lot of dresses before finding one that looks right on me. They’re tricky.
I still can’t wrap my head around all the deaths. My heart is still heavy and I continue to pray for the families and the community of Sandy Hook.
    Merry Christmas,
    Cyndi

  3. I think dresses are beautiful. Having said that, honest to goodness, I cannot remember the last time I wore a dress. In fact, I believe I do not OWN a single dress! I love that Vera Wang dress on you Cyndi and with the boots, it looks so fashionable. As Gina said, I think dresses don’t like me. I never seem to find a style I like. In the past and I’m talking REALLY past, I also tended toward belted dresses in extremely neutral colors, maybe that was the problem.
We must pray for the strength to press on. We need to press on to help the survivors deal with their pain. I know that the children were caught as angels unaware, but during my prayer time last night, I could see all of them at Christ’s knees and on his lap and I was heartened that they were safe, so very happy, and they would never know or remember the concept of evil.

  4. I do love to wear dresses. I usually wear a dress to church or on special occasions. I would like to work on wearing more casual, everyday dresses. I just found your blog a few days ago on Pinterest. I love it! I love your style and the fact you shop at the same stores I do.

  5. I do love dresses, but I don’t think they look all that great on me. I love the current trendy look of dresses over leggings/tights with short boots and/or knee boots. I’m thinking of giving it a try in the next couple of days. Thanks for sharing Cyndi. You look beautiful in your black dress and red scarf combo!

  6. Funny, I am wearing a Houndstooth dress with tights and riding boots today! I really like the blue color as well.

I personally feel that it is good to see positive “pretty” things in a world so full of evil so we are reminded that there is still good in the world. I do think these times call for simpler posts with an acknowledgement of what is going on in Connecticut by sharing our sorrow. When we continue on immediately after without a thought about the tragedy on our blogs, it seems kind of shallow. In a way, I feel we have a responsibility as “public” spokespersons.

With that said, I so appreciate your words and your great taste in dresses!

  7. I love to wear dresses. I spend a lot of time in jeans and T-shirts since my hobby is woodworking so I love it when I put on a dress and feel like a girl.
My heart is breaking. My daughter is a first grade teacher and having a tough time with all this. She lives in Arizona and we live in California. Can’t wait until next weekend when she will come home so I can give her a long, tight hug.
    God Bless

  8. I love dresses and in fact posted my holiday party outfit today on my blog. I love the black with red you have here. The price on that is great today! You look fabulous in your two dresses… And yes, praying for the families and friends of all those affected by the tragedy while still trying to wrap my brain around this kind of evil…
