Over 40 Makeup-Cream Blush

Over 40 Makeup-Cream Blush
One of the things I’ve realized is that the makeup I wore in my 20s and 30s doesn’t always work now that I’m in my 40s. Cream blush is one of the things I’ve added to my makeup routine over the last several years.

When I first started using it, I wasn’t crazy about it. There’s something about using a big powder brush and swooping blush on my cheeks that makes me feel like a true makeup artist (which is what I’ve always wanted to be :-)).

The one thing I read over and over again is that as women over 40 we want to have a dewy look to our skin which=younger looking skin. So believe me I try to look dewy! I’ve seriously thought about keeping a squirt bottle with me and just misting my face all day. Haha!

Cream blush seems to give us a dewy look. It goes on smoothly and can be applied with your fingers, foundation brush or sponge.

To find the perfect color, pinch your cheeks and look at the tone, match your blush color to the color in your cheeks.

When applying cream blush apply the product to the apples of the cheeks and up toward the hairline, then down to soften the edges.

Here are some good ones you might want to try:

1. Mac Cremeblend blush-I use this and the color I use is Ladyblush.

I have used several of these cream blushes, but all of them have good reviews!

Have you tried any cream blushes? What’s your favorite blush?

  1. I tried the Dream Bouncy Blush for the 1st time two days ago. 1st time using a cream blush. It came with no directions. Glad to find out how to use it!

  2. A couple months ago, when regula- Kroger was closing to become super-mega-Kroger (or something like that), all the makeup was majorly discounted. I found a jar of L’Oreal Magic Smooth Sofflé, and decided that the price was finally right. I never really knew what to make of creme blush, but I LOVE it. And a little bit goes a long way! I’ll never go back to powder.

  3. I was wondering if creme blush is OK for all types of skin. I had very oily skin and acne growing up. As an adult (58-way over 40 :)), my skin is not as oily. I would say it’s normal to oily. How do you think creme blushes would work?

  4. you are a mind reader Cyndi! I was having this very conversation with my sister yesterday. She is a year younger than I am. We were discussing some pictures taken of both us together over Christmas. I told her that my face looked dull and her’s did not. What does she do differently? She told me first of all, (just like my sweet Mama does) that I needed new lipstick, not nude lipstick. Then she told me that she uses creme blush. I told her I tried creme blush years ago but it made me oily. I still, at 50 something, have oily to normal skin, I fear looking greasy or breaking out. She uses Mary Kay creme blush blush and loves it. She looks stunning. Is there such a thing as an oil-free creme blush?

  5. I tried Clinique a fews years ago and did not like it. Maybe they sold me the wrong color…it just did not look right on me. It looked ok when applied, but a few hours later it looked like I was having a hot flash….on my face! lol

  6. I haven’t tried cream blush since I used to sneak it from my big sister’s makeup bag when we were in high school. 😉 That was many more years ago than I care to admit, and I’m pretty sure that is was not very expertly applied. I try to forget those awkward days. As a 49+ grandmother, I’m finding that I need to change some things about my makeup application. I love makeup…..always have…..but I want to look classy and not “made-up”. I’m a makeup junkie, so I will definitely be trying it out…..probably the MAC.

  7. I LOVE Mary Kay Creme blush in Sheer Bliss. My friend and MK consultant convinced me to try it and she was totally right, it’s perfect.
