8 Ways To Hide That Muffin Top-Part 2

8 Ways To Hide That Muffin Top

Yesterday, I shared four of the 8 Ways To Hide That Muffin Top. We all have parts of our bodies that we don’t quite like. The key is learning to dress in a way to accentuate our positive areas. Muffin tops are not a positive area. 🙂

So here are four more ways to hide that muffin top~

5. Select items that float away from the waistline~There are so many cute tops that don’t cling to our bodies and these are the styles you want to wear! You’ll notice a lot of the time I wear tops that are not clinging to my waistline.

6. Wear dresses~I love dresses, they’re feminine and can hide many a flaw! Pick dresses that are flowy or have an empire waist.

7. Shapewear is our friend~No pictures of me in shapewearbut we’ve talked about shapewear before. Long gone are the “girdles” of the past. Shapewear is more comfortable and works better than ever, so invest in good shapewear.

8. Wear statement earrings or a necklace~This is a great idea, focus the attention away from your waistline to a cute pair of earrings or a statement necklace.

We know it’s important to accessorize but who knew it could camouflage that waistline? So pull out your bubble necklaces and your statement earrings and have fun!

Beauty For the Heart~~Since it’s Valentine’s week, I have love on my mind. Not just love for my husband (although I adore him!) but I’m reminded of how important it is to love like Christ loves.

To love like Christ loves is to love the people in our life that are not always easy to love. But that’s what we’re called to do. I want to see people through His eyes.

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. John 13:34-35

Have a blessed day!

  1. I enjoy all your encouragement and style advice and how you remind us to balance outward beauty with our inward beauty which comes from our Lord and Savior.

  2. Love your website. I also want to love as Christ loves, and to live my whole life for Him. That includes the way I dress. I especially appreciate seeing clothing that looks good and at the same time isn’t too revealing. Thanks.

  3. Hi Judith – I exercise daily as well and eat healthy and I also received the “gift” of a muffin top at menopause, much to my dismay! And it doesn’t want to leave either. 🙁

  4. Great suggestions. I’m almost 50 and have been wearing shapewear for quite some time now (sadly I went from a size 6 to a 14 after some health issues and can’t get the weight back off). So I’m wondering if I’m buying my shapewear too big cuz I don’t struggle getting my shapewear on and it doesn’t really “suck” me in! Your tips are great. I have one more suggestion… add a long necklace to your statement piece. Long necklaces draw the eyes up and down and help to make the body look slimmer. Thanks for the post.

  5. Yes, it is an issue with me. I am a size 6, only weight 129 and have a muffin top. I sure never considered it a gift though ☺ But menopause does have that effect on so many of us.

  6. I’m not quite 40 yet, but after 3 kids, my stomach is not quite the same. If I would exercise more, I’m sure that would help. No low rise jeans for me! I realized a long time ago that it wasn’t a good look for me. 🙂 I tend to wear bicycle shorts under skirts & dresses- more for my hips than my waist though. I do layer camisoles or tank tops over just about everything, and I like to have a structured jacket with a colorful scarf when it is cold enough. The other thing I realized is that I really need to try things on and look at them in the mirror as I move around a little. I need to work on adding a statement necklace or something similar. Thanks for the tips.

  7. I have had Shapewear and Spanx pantyhose. But I found one item that worked better for me and my bladder (it can be a challenge to ‘go’ in a hurry!) I found one that is sort if like a corset, that just goes around the middle. Leave it in place for the ladies’ room and it is actually more comfortable for me!

  8. Thank you so much for the tips!! I’m attending my brothers wedding this weekend and had to find a dress today and because of your tips I was able to find one just like the one in tip# 6 on the left. Same style, just different color/pattern:) It looks great and I feel comfortable in it;)

  9. Funny you mention shapewear! My son got married last year and of course after being thin all my life he waits until I hit menopause and gain weight to decide to propose. While shopping for my dress the first thing I looked for was something to “hold everything in…. The very first thing I tried was Spanx. After 10 minutes and a thorough full on sweat I got it on. I have never been so exhausted in my life. LOL I am still wondering whatever happened to the younger girl in the dressing room next to me! I hope she made it out of there ok because her Spanx was only one size bigger than mine and she out weighed me by 60 pounds…. Just a funny story I had to share.

  10. I am a fan of Spanx and if you wear higher rise jeans, I think this would do the trick. My sister got a muffin top as a gift with menopause. She is in great shape otherwise, exercises, watches what she eats, she’s really a good girl! In spite of her efforts, her muffin top is here to stay. I wonder if that is an issue for many other women?

  11. Thanks for sharing Cyndi! I exercise about 5-7 times a week; however, I am starting to notice the “middle age middle” just recently. Flowing tops it is! Thanks for the tips.

    Gina

P.S. A note about exercise. As we get “older” is is as important if not more important the quality of food we eat. We cannot exercise away a bad diet! I am proof of that. If you want to eat something, remember that it will show up on your body somewhere! LOL

  12. A couple of things:
Regarding #2 – I’ve always worn mid-rise, they don’t emphasis a muffin top, but don’t hide it either. Since high-rise jeans are coming back, I think I’m going to give those a try. They top should meet right at my muffin top 🙂
Also, Dorothy, Spanx makes a shape wear that comes up really high. I have a pair and they are surprisingly comfortable. (Don’t wear them too much, but glad I have them.)

Flowy tops and exercise are my favorites. Thanks for the tips, as always.

  13. It seems that I never heard of a muffin top until I had one! Good ideas as always. I am afraid of the shapewear because I think that everything you are trying to hide will “escape” out of the top and bottom of it and look worse.

    1. Shape wear is the best, you should try it! This comes from a 5’5 125 pounds extremely insecure girl who is addicted to it 😊
