Valentine’s Day Love For Our Face

Lancome Perfecting Makeup Primer
Happy Valentine’s Day! In honor of Valentine’s Day, I thought I’d share some “love” for our face that I recently tried.

Every month, I receive a Birchbox in the mail. Birchbox is full of new grooming, beauty and lifestyle sample products. I get to sample top products from high-end brands, get expert advice, and buy new favorites and then share them with you! Of course, you can get your own Birchbox if you’d like.

This month they sent me a sample of Lancome La Base Pro Travel Size Oil Free Perfecting Makeup Primer. Wow! I can’t believe how much I love this primer!

Here’s a little bit of the technical stuff:

  • Elasto-Smooth™ technology forms a silk‑like network on skin to create a soft‑focus effect, like a filter on a camera lens
  • Contains silicons and emollients that create an even canvas for foundation
  • Oil-free formula feels comfortable on skin and controls shine

I can’t believe how good this makeup primer feels on my face. It really does feel silk-like! In case you’re wondering, it is a little pricey but my guess is that it will last a long time. A little goes a long way!

I like this product so much, I might have to order the full size!

Have any of you tried this product? What’s your favorite makeup primer? I’d love to know!

Beauty For the Heart~~I could talk all day about my love for my husband. He’s an amazing man and I’m blessed to be married to him!

But let me just say that we’ve worked hard to have a great marriage. No one is perfect and no marriage is perfect. We’ve made plenty of mistakes! But here’s the key to our marriage and please don’t miss it~~ we’re both passionate about Jesus Christ. Without Him we’d both be a mess!

We have struggles like everyone; we have bad days, we’ve dealt with cancer, loss, hurts etc. But when it’s all said and done, we cling to Christ and that is what makes us love each other even more.

If you’ve followed my blog for long, you know I love music. My sister shared this song a few weeks ago on her blog and I have fallen in love with it! So sip your coffee a little longer and sit back and enjoy!

Have a blessed Valentine’s Day!

  1. Hey Laura,
I will be happy to do that. I was on the fence too but I usually love at least one of the products they send. It does give me ideas for my blog too. I don’t always buy the full size items and it’s the only box I subscribe to.
Do you want me to just show the items I get? What i like and don’t like etc. ???
    Blessings,
    Cyndi

  2. Cyndi- I truly enjoy your blog, and I appreciate your thoughts on fashion and faith for us over 40. 😉 I would love to see you do a monthly post on your Birch Box. I have been receiving them, but I am on the fence about whether I am loving it or not. Do you buy many of the full size items? Do you subscribe to any of the other monthly boxes?

  3. Oh, I love my husband. We have been married for 33 wonderful years and a lot of those years have been challenging. We were blessed with a premature n baby boy 30 years ago who required long-term hospitalization. (I was all of 23-24 years old) We found out during that time, that our insurance didn’t cover high risk (premature babies) and the mega bills forced us into bankruptcy. The Lord saw us through. Four years later, I was diagnosed with a chronic disease. It’s been a rough road sometimes, but the Lord has seen us through. In the years that followed we raised two children who have both come to be successful in both their careers and in their lives with their God and with their families. Two and a half years ago, my husband’s company downsized and his position as CEO was eliminated. He is still unemployed. He said to me the day he came (totally surprised) that he had been let go and said to me, “God has not given me a spirit of fear but rather of power and love and sound mind.”
(2 Tim. 1:7) I dissolved into tears and thanked God, (yes even on the day my husband lost his job) for blessing me with this incredible husband who has always held me and our family close together through his unfailing love and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

  4. I love that you wrote about the “secret ingredient” of your happy, love-filled marriage. My husband and I also share that Special Ingredient. He truly does make all the difference in the world.

  5. really did enjoy the song and hope I can find it on my new subscription for ITunes (kids gave it to me for Christmas) Still working on it to get used to it. Had major surge which resulted in fried printer, laptop and desktop so that has been my catch up focus. Is tax time the prime time for this sort of thing to occur??
Happy Valentine day to you and your cute husband.

  6. I also receive birchbox and really do enjoy getting the every month. My daughter and I open it together and look through it–kind of our thing to do together I guess..)

Thanks for the Colton Cotton song. Never have heard of him before. Very nice. Made a nice addition to devotion time and coffee time too!!!

  7. Thanks Cyndi! I can not wait for my birchbox to come in ~ hopefully today or tomorrow! It is so much fun waiting to see what is there – yeah!! You and your husband look so cute! Gods Blessing on you today and Happy Valentines Day! I love this song too ~ thanks for sharing!
p.s. I was drinking my coffee already!! 🙂
