Spring 2013 Nail Color

Spring 2013 Nail Color

I thought I’d share some Spring 2013 Nail Color with you since it’s pedicure time. A few weeks ago I went in for a pedicure and a manicure. Of course the first thing they told me to do was pick out a color.

I thought about the spring colors I had seen, and I knew neutrals and pastels were in so I picked a light pink for my nails (I can’t remember the color I used). I usually go darker for my toes, so I went with a coral color.

Last fall, I shared some tips for women over 40 about nail color. Here’s a few reminders:

  • No nail art, and avoid excessive glitter! (This makes you look like you’re trying too hard to look young!)
  • Save your fun colors for your toes. On fingernails a pretty, sheer pink or beige will take you anywhere. Light colors elongate the look of your fingers.
  • Dark nail polish makes you look older. If your hands are aging dark colors accentuate it.

Thankfully, neutral and pastel nail color is very popular this year! Of course on the other side, dark blues and purples along with metallics are popular too.

Here are some of the spring colors from OPI you might want to use~~

  1. Thank you for this great post. I love the colors and the explanations about what is “best” for us 40 somethings. 🙂 I have an 18 year old daughter and it is so hard to resist some of those fun bright and sparkly shades that she and her friends wear. These colors are great ideas and I am going to look into getting some of them and separating colors that are just for my daughter from my nail color supply. 🙂 I haven’t ever commented but I LOVE YOUR BLOG!!

  2. Hi Cyndi.

I love OPI polish, and have used it for years. I always go back to the shades of red. I hope the reds are still in! 🙂 I will sometimes switch to a coral with red tones. Thanks for keeping us up on the latest for nails. I love your posts. Hope you have an amazing week.

    Gina

  3. I seldom have the same color on my fingernails and toenails I have been wearing lighter colors on my fingernails but yesterday I used Commander in Chic (finally) and like it.

I so wish I could get my cuticles and the rough skin up at the sides of my tips to do like the manicurists are able to achieve. If anyone can share, please do. Manicures and pedicures aren’t something I can justify from a time or money standpoint, but I do wish I could get a more professional look with my home jobs.

OPI polish is my favorite. I have an embarrassing stash of lots of brands, but OPI is my fave.

  4. I have loved OPI’s Senorita Rose-alita for years. I only use it on my toes. I love a light pink on my nails because I keep them fairly short. A few years ago I started using OPI and threw out all my other nail colors. It last so much longer than the cheap ones.

  5. Well, I just assume if I’m wondering what colors to wear for spring and summer then other women are too! I hate going to the nail place and not knowing what to pick. So glad it helped!!
    Blessings,
    Cyndi

  6. Hey Shari, I do still get the SNS. I love having them, but the problem is they only last 2 to 2 1/2 weeks on me. I think I’m hard on my nails. So I’ll do it for a while and then I stop because I feel I’m spending to much money on them, If I had the time and plenty of money, I would keep them year round!
    I hope that helps,
    Cyndi

  7. I just found this super cute robin’s egg color that I LOVE. It is a new brand at walmart. I was nervous about how long it would last but I had it on for four days without any chips or anything!

  8. Cyndi – you must have your ESP turned on! I was thinking about this very issue just this morning, wondering what spring colors you might recommend. You recommended “Commander in Chic” and I’ve been wearing it all winter — I’ve gotten so many compliments on it! I looked at the OPI Great and Powerful Oz collection and think I’ll go with When Monkeys Fly this spring. Thanks so much for the post!

  9. I actually just bought I Theodora You and topped it off with Witch is which (glitter). It’s so subtle but I love the little bling at my fingertips. My nails are where I tend to “let go” a little as my clothing is pretty understated. 🙂 I love OPI’s liquid sand as well. All the colors are dark at this point but I heard more muted tones are coming out this summer.

  10. Hi Cyndi, the new spring colors are super! I love to try new nail colors (and lip gloss colors, too) I’m wondering if you still get the SNS on your nails…I remember a blog some time back where you reviewed that process. Did you like the SNS and continue it, or move on to something else? Thanks for any tips, and have a great day!!
