How I Whiten My Teeth (YouTube Video)

How I Whiten My Teeth!

Two words I have for you today are grace and patience. I’m trying to get the hang of vlogging but oh there’s definitely a learning curve! Today I’m talking to you about How I Whiten My Teeth.

Quick Disclaimer: Before doing any whitening treatment I highly recommend you see your dentist first. I am a licensed dental hygienist by profession and I’ve been practicing for quite a few years. The opinions in the video are my own!

Did this help at all? Do you have any other questions about whitening your teeth?

Beauty For the Heart~~Obviously my prayers are with the people in Oklahoma. My heart aches for all the loss of life but oh how it especially aches for the children.

I long for the day when “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:4

Hug those you love a little tighter and lets be thankful for each day we have!

  1. I have used one of the Pinterest recipes for whitening – I believe it called for Baking Soda, peroxide and water and to brush for 2 minutes. At the end of the 2 min my gums had chemical burns! There were white spots on my gums all day and it hurt! I think it did whiten my teeth but I think 2 min was way too long! There are pictures on my blog. People beware!
I would love to do the trays – but they’re the most expensive part. Don’t they sell trays at the store and maybe we could buy just the gel from the dentist?

  2. I’m not sure Jordan but I can’t imagine it working. I wouldn’t think just brushing your teeth would help. It needs to be left on there. Also you don’t want to get it on your gums because it can hurt them.
    Sorry I’m not more help,
    Cyndi

  3. Holy Moly, you’re a natural at this vlogging thing! Great tips! I have to add my recent horror story w/teeth whiting…..(only because it took me almost 4 months to diagnose) apparently I’m allergic to something in the Colgate Optic white brand! It did a great job whiting but I developed a freakish rash (http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/perioral-dermatitis)
Apparently it’s very common…..leave it to me to be allergic to toothpaste of all things! Thankfully it’s all cleared up now….

  4. Ok, cant get over how similar you and Tracy sound 😉 Also I saw a comment up there about vlogging your undereye routine and I totally agree!! I loved your undereye tips…anyway, wanted to ask you (since youre a hygienist) what you think of all the pinterest whitening methods?? (i.e. using hydrogen peroxide & baking soda) Is that safe??!

  5. Nice video! I’m going to give the Whitestrips a try for my daughter. She has these strange little congenital white striations on her teeth that make them look almost like they are made of marble! Her orthodontist said it has nothing to do with her hygiene when she had braces, and that we can use a whitening product to even them out. I hope it works…if not, to the dentist for trays we shall go!

  6. Nice job with the video! I’ve tried the Crest White Strips, but they didn’t work. I’ve heard of someone rubbing whitening toothpaste on their teeth and leaving it on for a few minutes. Another idea I’ve recently seen online for whitening teeth is mixing a small amount of lemon juice with baking soda and putting on teeth for a couple of minutes. I haven’t tried either one. What are your thoughts about these?

  7. Love this video. You answered my questions. Thanks so much. Looking forward to another one soon!!!!

  8. Hi Cyndi- I have used the ” generic” brand or store brand and it has worked great. They are less expensive than the Crest. Lately I have been hearing about these whitening treatments removing the enamel on your teeth. Why do you know about that?

  9. I really enjoyed your posts today. I would love to have whiter teeth. My daughters and I use the crest whitening toothpaste. I agree with you can’t tell if it really helps. Cyndi, I so enjoy reading the scriptures that you post daily and last night as I watched on tv all the devasitation with OK my heart just ached. I was so thankful to be able to hold my precious children. Have a wonderful day.

  10. Great job on the vlog, Cyndi! Very well done. I, too, have sensitive teeth and have used the Crest White Strips. It is quite painful, though, so I don’t use them often. I can see a slight difference after use, though it would probably be more if I could stand to do it more often!

  11. Now that getting the hang of the vlogging – we need to see how you apply your makeup for your undereye issues!! ha ha

Great video today. My teeth are sooo sensitive that I’ve never tried whitening. I would like to but I think it would kill me.

  12. Hi Cyndi.

This is definitely the one “beauty” treatment I wish I could do; however, I have several crowns and it would be pointless, sadly. Years ago, my dentist recommended crowns on my four front teeth, rather than orthodontics. I so wish I had not done that so I would have my natural teeth and could whiten them. When I had the crowns done, very white teeth were not “stylish”, so the dentist recommended against white crowns. I cannot afford to replace them at this point. White teeth are beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

  13. I have heard of people using equal parts baking soda and hydrogen peroxide to make a paste to whiten their teeth. What do you think about this method? Would there be any side effects/or damage to teeth by trying this method? I can’t afford trays and solutions at my dentist office.
    Thanks.

  14. Thank you so much for this. I enjoy your posts/videos so much. SO helpful. You seem to know my interests and blog immediately about them. . .keep blogging!

  15. How much does it cost in your office to have the colgate trays made as well as keeping up the solution? I am interested in doing this.

  16. My daughter and I use the 3-D whitening…and it does work..we use the toothpaste only, no strips. and then I went natural and started using baking soda with a little distilled water into a paste and that has worked wonders in whitening my teeth….but then, I do not smoke or drink any tea or coffee…so I don’t have any stains to worry about removing either. Great editorial on whitening your teeth!!! loved it as always!
