Tie It Together Thursday-Adding Accessories

I’m excited about my new feature, Tie It Together Thursday! This is where you send me a picture of an outfit and I add the accessories.

I’m NOT a professional stylist. Just a girl who loves to accessorize! It’s fun to take an ordinary outfit and make it pop!

Krista, sent me this Ann Taylor dress~~It. is. adorable! She only paid $25 for it! But I do think it needs some accessories to make it pop. I love the square neckline and the silver zipper.

So here’s how I styled it. Black & white is on trend so I went with that color scheme. When wearing a square neckline, I like to stay with a choker style necklace. This neckline definitely draws your eye straight to the neck.

I love these Enzo Angiolini’s pumps. They are the perfect mix. They combine the comfortable height of a mid-heel with the trendiness of a cap toe. Macy’s $130 (I know a little expensive but they looked so good with this dress).

Krista had mentioned wearing a black boot to take this look into fall. Here I paired the outfit with a  Nine West Metra Bootie. Its sleek and sassy style will dress up your look in no time. DSW (Designer Shoe Warehouse) $74.95

Okay so let’s be honest, most of us are NOT going to spend this much money on the accessories. But these are just ideas. You certainly can look at them and then try to find them cheaper.

It takes me quite a while to put these looks together so I don’t alway have the time to find the cheapest alternatives.

If it were me, I might spend my money on the the shoes in the first picture and then add accessories I already have in my closet. First, I would try to find the same shoes but at a cheaper price.

So what do you think? How would you style this dress?

  1. I’m with the ladies that asked how to wear booties with a dress. When that sweet clerk at Ann Taylor mentioned it, I played with idea. I love love love the pumps and that is really more me…. but sometimes it’s fun to venture out. So questions: Is this a look that is too young? I’m short and curvy… Would the bootie/dress look make my legs look short and stubby? If a girl were to wear this look, should it be done with tights? Should the tights match the boots or the dress?
In the mean time I’m splurging on the pumps! Ha! Thank you again Cyndi for “Tying it Together” for me. I have a few other dresses I would love for you to accessorize for me but will let other ladies have a turn! Blessings Krista

  2. Looks beautiful! I agree with some of the other posters…tell us more about booties with dresses. Do you wear opaque tights? Bare legs? What style of dress works best? Wearing booties with a dress would be a stretch for me, but I might do it if I knew how!

  3. What a fun, new addition to your blog! You took this seemingly plain, albeit very classy white dress and created a great, on trend “clothing vignette”. I really enjoy you mix of jewelry pieces from the classic hoops to the very geometric bracelet. The icing is that adorable clutch! You have talent girl, you ARE a professional stylist!

  4. Hi Cyndi.

First of all, I love today’s quote. 🙂

I love the dress, the model’s haircut, the shoes, etc. I generally do not like to wear a lot of bold accessories at one time. For me, I would keep the dress more simple and classic, but would definitely add the shoes and silver earrings! The accessories you picked out are awesome. Thanks for showing us the dress and style ideas.

  5. Cindy, I really like this new idea of yours! I’m not sure about booties with this dress for Fall. Tell us a little more about wearing booties with a dress like that. Would you also wear opaque tights?

  6. Awesome dress, what a deal! I think you are spot on with the accessories, Cyndi. A little pricey, maybe, but one can always look for the same item at a discount store or with coupon. I just returned from a short vacation in New York City with my husband and saw the booties with dresses, skirts and shorts everywhere! Even in the 90 degree temps with 90 percent humidity:) Not sure if it’s a look I can pull off but it’s certainly in fashion.

  7. Oh Cyndi, This is too cute! Thank you so much!!! I love everything! I actually have a very similar necklace and earrings. I’m going to get the bracelet and the handbag and look for a little less pricey version of the shoes. I think I may be able to do it as I just received a coupon for $20 off at DSW. I love the boots too… As I mentioned that was the girl at the shops idea… I’m not sure if short boots with a dress is too young for me… I may try it though:) I can afford to spend a bit more on accessories because I got such a great deal on the dress. The look you’ve put together is so classy. Thank you again! Blessings Krista

  8. I need to go find this dress as it’s me in a nutshell. Love your choices although I also covet the sandals shown in the first pic. A two-tone chunky choker would also look great. I adore this neckline and wear it all the time with chokers! Yeah, I dun good. Chocolate brown would also look snazzy and a pair of spectator sling-backs would rock.

  9. I think all of the accessories are so versatile and although most of us may not run out and buy them all at once we could acquire them over time. I am always on the hunt for accessories at great prices so whenever I see something on sale if I like it I buy it knowing full well I will eventually use it. You’ve done a great job and I look forward to seeing what you do next week!

  10. Wonderful, Cyndi! I do love black and white; hard to go wrong with that look!

Thanks for the tips about what to wear with a square neckline. Now, I have a question. With the zipper front of this dress, it seems to me you’d be fine without a necklace at all. Is that right?

    Love the new series!

  11. I love this new feature!!! I also love the way you styled the dress. You can’t go wrong with black and white. Even though the pumps are a little pricey, just think how many things you could wear them with! I am all about price per wear!

  12. I love accessorizing…in fact, it takes me longer to accessorize than it does to get dressed! I’ve always loved black and white, so I’m really loving this look. Like most everyone else, I definitely don’t have the $$ to spend on all these accessories, but just seeing the ideas helps. I love the tip about what to pair with a square neckline; I hope you will continue to feature ideas about what to pair with certain necklines or certain prints, etc. Very helpful! Love all you stuff!
