My Search For The Best Eye Concealer

my-search-for-the-best-eye-concealer

I feel like I’m on a mission to find the best eye concealer. Believe me, when I say I’ve tried a lot of eye concealers.

The people at Sephora know me by name. I buy, I try, and then I return the product. It’s getting embarrassing.

Of course it is a worthy mission, right? An eye concealer can make you or break you. 🙂

Well, here is where I am right now. I’ve written about eye concealers before and I’ve thought I found THE ONE. But then I use it for several months and I change my mind (imagine that!).

There’s one product I have consistently used and I love it. This one is a must for me.

Benefit Cosmetics Lemon Aid

My Search For The Best Eye Concealer

I use Lemon Aid to cover up my dark circles. It’s a correcting cream that helps eyes look refreshed.

Next I use NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer . The color I use is called Custard.

My Search For The Best Eye Concealer

Radiant Creamy Concealer is a multi-action formula that instantly obscures imperfections, blurs the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and hides dark circles and signs of fatigue.

This concealer glides on smooth and lasts for most of the day. I usually re-apply at night if I’m going somewhere.

So that’s what I’m using right now. These two products do help cover my dark circles and believe me that’s not an easy job!

What eye concealer are you using? Please let me know, I might try it!

  1. Thank you for sharing. My sister is looking for a concealer that is creamy and won’t dry out in the Fall. I will definitely recommend for her to try this NARS concealer. I’m impressed of how extensive the line is. I’m sure she will find one that she likes!

  2. I too am on a quest to find the perfect moisturizing eye concealer!!! I notice this post was written in 2013 and I am wondering if you still use this today???

  3. I really enjoy your website and love that you share your favorites! I’m always looking for something new to try as well. I will have to try the lemon aid! I was told recently to mix a little eye serum with my concealer to prevent the dry cracking looking thing from happening under my eyes. So, I use a bit of Olay regenerist serum and my favorite concealer of late, which is MAC select cover.

  4. Sometimes, finding the right makeup is simply trial and error… I have been searching for an eye primer that is also a concealer. My eyelids have become “tea stained” as I have gotten past 40, and I find that my eye shadow colors don’t always read true because my discolored lids are showing through. I’m determined to find THE one.
I’ve also been looking for a black cherry or black currant lip gloss. I want the darker tint, but still the “see-through” look of a gloss. I just tried and rejected my 5th one.
Congratulations on finding your perfect combo. Persistence pays off!
    Be blessed Cyndi…

  5. Hi Cyndi- would lemon aid also work for just circles? Mine aren’t dark, but not pretty either ! Does the lemon aid go on first, I assume and the the concealer? Thx and God bless

  6. Hi Cyndi.

I do not use concealer, but maybe I should. My morning routine is so short. I’m done with foundation, eyeliner, shadow, blush, mascara and lip gloss in about 5 minutes. Maybe I’ll look in to some correcting products. I’m sure I could use a lot of correcting and concealing! 🙂

Thanks for sharing. Have a great evening.

    Gina

  7. As far as the puffy eyes, I have found that putting the large ice tea bags on my eyes helps alot. I save the bags after making tea, put them in a baggie in the fridge and the next morning take them out and lay them on my eyes. It helps better than any other thing I have tried. Also, do you apply the concealer b4 or after your foundation?
    Tks much!

  8. Cyndi,
I am in LOVE with all things Arbonne! Their products are AMAZING!!!! Not only are they pure and completely healthy for your skin, they totally work!! Arbonne’s concealer comes in a light shade which is best for most skin types. (It also comes in medium). Their concealer lasts for many months and you just need a small amount per use. I normally apply my concealer with a small brush but when I’m in a hurry, I just use a little and dab it on with my finger.
    Either way works great!
Healthy trends are showing people becoming more aware of the types of food they eat and making better choices in what we consume. However, did you ALSO know that many skin care products and cosmetics in the market today, are full of toxins? ” It takes only 26 SECONDS for these toxins to absorb into the skin and find their way into every organ of your body! ” (Dr.Deanna’s Healing Handbook).
Being beautiful starts on the inside with our love for Jesus, and blossoms over into all other areas of our lives. Our skin should be a radiant, glowing testimony to this! We are meant to be and live beautiful!
I am thrilled to help you choose cosmetics and skin care that really do make a huge difference!

  9. Hi Cyndi,
Have you ever heard of “makeup alley”?
It’s a website where customers review products. They have a huge database! They have a top rated section and sometimes you can filter by age, etc. Please check it out. Maybe there are some recommendations there you would like? Thank you for your heart for the Lord, shared with us!

  10. Dark circles are my biggest issue right now. I’ve been using a Physicians Formula yellow corrector and a MAC concealer. They work OK, but I loved to try the NARS.

  11. I, too, have tried lots of products! For quite some time now I have used Benefit Lemon Aid followed by L’Oreal Visible Life Absolute Concealer. The two together provide great coverage without the “cakey” look that some products leave. I find the L’Oreal concealer to be creamy and long lasting!

  12. Cyndi I am a Benefit girl as well but I use Bo~ing, it is a cover up and brightener. LOVE it! I have horribly dark coloring around my eyes and this stuff lightens and brightens it. Best by far and over the years I have used a ton of concealers. Try it and you can thank me later, LOL!! I did a post on it and so many of my readers tried it and truly they wrote me emails thanking me for the recommendation!

  13. Hi there Cyndi! I love your blog, thanks for sharing with us. After 40, I have found that concealer/corrector is so important. I love Bobbi brown. She is a woman over 40, and she just gets it. If you go to any Bobbi Brown counter, they will color match you and apply it for you. I recommend you wear it for a day to see how you like it before purchasing. It is a little more pricey, but I only use a tiny bit, and the pot lasts me a long time.

  14. I, too, have been searching for the perfect concealer. I just started using MAC pro longwear concealer and so far am really liking it. That girl at the counter applied it with a brush and I was happy with the results. My other favorites are Urban Decay 24/7 and Estee Lauder Ideal Light. It’s more of an illuminator/concealer, so I usually use it along with one of the others. I may need to try the Nars one you like, though! I love all the tips you share! God bless!

  15. Thank you for the valuable info you share. I love your website. Any ideas for puffy eyes. I am finding that as I age, I always have some puffiness under my eyes, making me look tired all of the time. Thanks in advance.

  16. Hi Cyndi! I too try many products from sephora and take them back when I decide they are not “the one”. The best concealer I found through trial and error is korres “quercetin and oak concealer”. I use Clinique under eye firming cream 1st then this concealer. So amazing – it lasts a long time too! Thanks for all your 40 something advice and for the inspiration to find our real beauty inside! God bless you!!!
