Winter Work Clothes For Women Over 40

One of the great things about after Christmas, is all the sales on winter clothes. Courtney (my daughter) and I spent some quality time together and did some shopping.

After reading through your comments from the survey many of you wanted to see some clothes that you could wear to work. Jeans are not an option.

I work two days outside the home and my work clothes consist of scrubs (I’m a dental hygienist). But I do like to dress up and so I’m going to be more consistent in showing you those outfits.

This time of year I love a turtleneck because our weather is cold. This is a simple but classic winter outfit.

I love the ankle pant and I thought these pants could be worn well into spring with a different blouse.

I also styled this outfit with short black boots.

Last week, I saw another fashion blogger wearing a gold top, brown pants and leopard print shoes. I knew I had similar items in my closet so I put them together.

So there’s some winter work clothes for women over 40! Of course this week the temperatures are brutally cold so I’m going to be bundled up from head to toe.

  1. I just discovered you today on Pinterest while looking for fashion over 40! You look fabulous in everything! I’m inspired. Thank you.
(May I ask what size do you wear? Can you offer any tips for apple shaped women and how to hide the tummy?) I know you don’t have that problem 🙂

  2. Cyndi, I am so glad I found your blog! I’ve been looking for outfits for over 40 that were still youthful and you’ve done it! Can’t wait to start putting your tips to good use. I tend to wear t_shirts and jeans that don’t quite fit well.I’m also 5’1″. How tall are you? Thanks!

  3. I love the blue sweater with the pattered pants and the flats.

All the out fits are so pulled together, that has always been my problem

is that I just don’t seem to have that gene.So I wear a lot of dresses.

I love your sense of fashion.

  4. Cyndi, love all the cute looks you pull off so well! Especially the gold sweater. You really have a talent for putting just the right things together to make a great look. I am going to try to do the same. Thanks for the inspiration!

  5. I love your site and visit it frequently. You have such good taste and i try to recreate a lot of your looks for myself. I work as an HR manager in a large manufacturing facility and am always looking for classic stylish looks

  6. Thanks for your beauty for the heart today, Cyndi! I just started back to work part time after years (15) of being at home. Frustration ensued as I realized many things just don’t fit the way they used to. I needed the reminder that no matter what, God sees me as beautiful!

  7. So cute!!! THANK YOU for posting these pretty looks! I’m a teacher, and this is EXACTLY the kind of fashion help I need! God bless you!

  8. Giiirrl, you are stylin’!! Just love your looks, such a great sense of what works! Now with your new series on body types, maybe I can learn what will work on this old 55 yr. old!!

  9. I love all the outfits, especially the ankle pants. I’m so glad to see some trendy ideas for those of us who work outside of the home. Thanks for sharing!!

  10. These are all such great outfits. I agree about the after Christmas sale. I am so big on getting things on sale, sadly, this year I haven’t had much luck. Although, Im pretty thrifty, I prefer 70% off or more!

  11. Hi Cyndi! I love all the looks! I work in accounting and all the looks would be quite appropriate! Thanks for sharing

  12. Love the first look! I work in a conservative trendy office, will try this look tomorrow! I asked for a B.R. turtleneck for Christmas, and thankfully Santa pulled through. 🙂 God Bless!

  13. Love your ideas! I work where it is too cold to dress up even a bit, but when I go anywhere or out shopping I love to dress cute! Thank you for the ideas! Have a great one!

  14. I love the pattern on the pants in your second outfit. I am actually going to be going from working to being a SAHM, but I will still be dressing up for church once a week. I enjoy all of your outfits!

  15. Especially love the first two looks! I tend to avoid print pants but those are cute! I never know what to about winter shoes. Flats with bare feet??? My feet get cold and I can’t go bare! I need socks. I wear trouser socks a lot or plain black socks with my flats. They don’t look as stylish but my feet are warmer!

  16. I learned something new about you today, did not know about your job…
I think the best thing for these colder temperatures is fleece lined tights which I would definitely wear with the flats you’ve shown here.
    I love all these looks!

  17. Fiona. I just saw that skirt on the Clearance rack at our Target. Look there. I too love these outfits you have put together. Thanks Cyndi and stay warm.

  18. These are great, Cyndi! I LOVE the leopard skirt but it is no longer available online 🙁 Maybe I’ll try at my local target. Thanks again for your wonderful blog, I enjoy it so much!

  19. I don’t work outside of the home but am always looking for something nice to wear to church. Thanks for sharing the link to Target for the skirt….I just ordered it 🙂

  20. All of these are so cute Cyndi! I don’t work outside of my home but tend to have a more dressy style in general… I just feel better when dressed up a bit. So, I love that you are including this type of styles. I adore your ankle pants with boots. I usually don’t wear ankle pants in the fall and winter. I’m going to try this look… I am a little concerned about it making me look more hippy (you don’t have that problem!) But I’m going to try and see:) Maybe tomorrow I’ll find out for sure. Ha ha! Love your blog as always!! Thanks so much! Krista
