Spring Fashion Trends You Can Wear

Spring-fashion-trends-you-can-wear

It’s 4 degrees here this morning but for some reason, I have spring fashion trends on my mind. I love to look ahead and see what we’ll be wearing in a few short months!

They say that fashion is cyclical and everything eventually comes back in fashion. It looks like the nineties are back in full swing this runway season.

Here’s a preview of the Pantone Fashion Color Report for Spring 2014.  It’s a pairing of soft pastels with vivid brights to create a colorful equilibrium.

Remember, just because something is on trend, it doesn’t mean we have to wear it. It’s important to know what looks best on you and then add a few of those trends to your wardrobe.

One of the trends coming back this spring is the crop top. Ugh! This is one of those trends that  a lot of people seem to wear even when they don’t have a flat stomach. This is not a trend that I’m going to be wearing. Imagine that!

Pleated skirts are coming back and they’re wearing them below the knee. I know a lot of women will like this longer length. Maxi skirts will still be stylish this spring.

The shirt dress is a cute trend. It’s comfortable and will be perfect for warmer weather.

A lot of you have asked about floral. It’s going to be popular this spring. I think it’s one of those patterns you have to be careful wearing. It can make you look older.

Collared shirts are popular for spring and of course I love this trend.

Pastels will be everywhere. Although I like a more vivid color, I’m sure I’ll add some pastels to my wardrobe.

So what do you think of the spring fashion trends? Are you a fan of any of them?

I’ll be adding spring clothes to my Spring/Summer Pinterest board if you want to follow along!

  1. Had to get out of the cold and see what Spring will bring! I am loving wearing my leggings in winter with long sweaters or tunics. I am planning on buying some tunic blouses in pastel for spring and wear them with my leggings until it warms up! I can wear my long cardigans opened up and flats instead of boots.

  2. Hi Cyndi girl…long time since I’ve been around to say “hi”. I have to tell you I’m kind of excited about the whole pastel trend. I haven’t worn much color of any kind in quite a while (neutrals only), but I’ve always had good luck with pastels; nice, solid, saturated pastel color. I like classic styling with minimal treatment on collars and sleeves. I love that mint green shirt, the color, the fabric, the styling, I would wear it in a minute. Now, let’s talk about those scary crop tops….

  3. Hi Cyndi! Ok I have always loved pastels! I think they are soft and feminine. I have dark hair medium/fair skin and light eyes… pastels work for me. I also really like florals. I’m not a big print fan in general but think certain florals used the right way can be really pretty and again very feminine. Have a great evening! Krista

  4. On a day of sub zero temperatures, what a breath of fresh air to think about Spring! I love the color chart – already about thinking what I have in my closet in those colors =0)
    Thank you for the preview!

  5. I think I may be a little out of “trend” come spring…….lol. I do like the shirt dresses and collared blouses but other than that, I don’t think any of these trends are suited for me. I don’t care for pastels or florals and I think both maxis and pleated skirts look best on runway models (i.e.-tall & skinny). Regardless, I am OVER this winter and look forward to spring, no matter what the styles are. 😉

  6. I like the collared shirts and maybe the longer skirt and shirt dress but pastels don’t do much for me so I usually stay away from them. I’m not a florals person either, I prefer my flowers in a vase or in the garden 🙂 Thanks for sharing.

  7. I don’t really love any of the styles but the colors will be fun. Longer skirts are a good thing for me too. The best thing about spring will be warmer temperatures. I’m over cold and snow which is what we are enduring again tonight.

  8. Hi Cyndi…I had to chuckle at your comment that you wouldn’t be wearing the crop top! Neither will I but I am way too old to even be thinking of something like that ! I too loved collared shirts to help hide my bony neck and shoulders and I think I will try the pastel colors but I wonder if they’ll come in a little darker shade of pastel. That would look better on me with my complexion. I need to look into the skin products that you had on your blog yesterday. Again, thanks for sharing the products that you use and find that they work for you. It gives us a starting place.

  9. I think I’ll try the pastel tops, love the mint green one pictured. I don’t do floral so I know I won’t be using that trend.

I read your last post and i wanted to say that I really started to take care of my skin when I was about 25….it has paid off.

  10. Hi Cyndi.

I am not a fan of pastels or florals. 🙁 I would wear a shirt dress with flip flops at the beach, and I would possibly even wear a crop top with some cute ankle white jeans…at the beach. I do not like the longer skirts, as they make me look “frumpy.” I look best in things that are very fitted and have more saturated colors, such as emerald green, burgundy, blue reds, etc. Of course, I do love black and will wear it throughout the year. 🙂

I love your Beauty for the Heart today. 🙂

We are waiting for the snow here in NC. We are supposed to get 5-10″ tonight. My daughter is excited, but me…not so much. 🙂

Have a great evening. Thanks for sharing.

  11. Well, gee. I’m not overly thrilled with the coming trends. Don’t do crop tops or floral. I don’t do pastels well since I have a pale complexion and pastels wash me out. I do love collared shirts and shirt dresses. I love turquoise and greens, blues, corals…I like the philosophy to dress for your body type and coloring and will have to stick with that.

  12. Our weather has been soo mild, that it has me thinking spring! Which I know, is a big tease! 🙂 I try to appreciate every season, and enjoy each one and most of all, to remember who is the Creator of each one (just my goal in not complaining even about the weather)! I agree with Cassie, the crop top isn’t modest at all.. and love how you always say, just because its in style doesn’t mean we have to wear it! Thanks Cyndi!! Look forward to pastels & maxi skirts too!! Have a great day, Cyndi!

  13. So many of this Spring trends are boxy and shapeless and along with crop tops will not be something I embrace. For anyone wanting to try pastels remember you can get bottoms if they don’t work with your skin tone and wear tops in tones that do work for your skin! I have a boho side, so longer skirts are something I adore.. A shirtdress is something I’d like to get ,as I don’t have one. I too love turquiose and white for spring…

  14. Love these as always….. Great looks Cyndi!
You are on the same idea that I am….I just got in two of my spring runway catalogs and sat on the couch for a couple hours looking at the spring collections!!
Turquoise & White are my favorite summer colors. I always love the B & W together…..anytime of year!
I like your philosophy… in the cold of winter think spring to warm you up!!
What is your favorite summer color to wear, Cyndi?
