Fashion Over 40-What I Wore

Well, the weather finally cleared and we had no snow for a few days. But it was short lived because we have more snow today. Ugh!

Last week we talked about the in-between season. I’m never sure what to wear but I always have a jacket with me. I recently purchased this military style jacket from JC Penny and I’ll be wearing it a lot as the weather turns milder.

I shared this outfit a few weeks ago but I wore it this past week to the Casting Crowns concert.

Another piece of clothing I wear a lot during the in-between season is my denim jacket. It’s a great piece to have especially for women over 40. It’s one of the basic pieces we talk about.

I love a wedge heel. They’re much more comfortable than regular heels don’t you think?

Stylish jackets are a must for me during the in-between season. Do you wear jackets? Do you have a denim jacket?

Beauty For the Heart~~Several weeks ago someone left a comment about wanting to instruct their grown children. They didn’t want to come off as being “preachy”. But they wanted to guide them.

I had to laugh a little when I read that because if you were to ask my grown children, they would definitely call me “preachy”. To be honest, I take it as a compliment. I’m their Mom. Someone needs instruct them in the “right” ways. The world we live in certainly does not do that!

Two scriptures come to my mind. Proverbs 31:26She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. Deuteronomy 11:19, Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

These both tell us to teach our children. It doesn’t say they have to be young. We as Moms, need to share truth with our children, no matter their age.

Have a blessed day!

  1. I absolutely LOVE your website, blog, etc. I actually borrowed a bible verse this morning to send to my son. It was perfect.
You are an inspiration, not only in your dress, but in spirit. Thanks for helping us “50 year old gals” dress appropriately. 😀

  2. I’ve been a silent follower of your blog for a while now. I’m happy to find a quality blog for the over 40 crowd! Love your messages

  3. I love my jean jacket. I wear it so much. I also have a couple of military type jackets. I am definitely a jacket person. I agree about speaking truth to our children even when they are grown. There is no one else who loves and cares about them as much as we do. We also know them better than anyone.

  4. I almost bought the jc penney coat, but did not have my size. However, might have to order;-) I love the wedge heels! Been wanting some of those too! Love your outfits..I wish I could wear those to work!

  5. I like that utility jacket and I don’t think they ever go out of style, just like a denim jacket. I have two regular jean jackets that I wear, a white denim one and a tan fabric one. I guess I am a fan.

I admit, I know I sometimes get too “preachy” with my kids too. But we love them and want to protect them. My daughter has a one year old son now and I am the first one she calls when she needs parenting advice, so I guess us moms being “preachy” has been ok!

  6. Hi Cyndi.

I have a black jacket like your JCP jacket. I have a denim jacket too. 🙂

I have to tell you that I love your look with the skinnies and wedge hills. You look to modern, youthful and on trend. 🙂

  7. You look fabulous Cyndi!! Love my jacket too, especially for the in-between season 🙂 I think a Mom that shares her wisdom and guides her children is truly showing she cares. Sometimes we young ones think we know so much more, but I try to remember my sweet Mom has much, much more experience than I do!

  8. I have and wear a lot of jackets, but I really want a denim vest. I like that cargo jacket…from Penney’s no less. I’ll have to check it out, but I’m still bundled up in a down coat. It has to be WARM for me to go without socks. You look very cute in your outfits this week.

  9. Just found your blog recently and am thoroughly enjoying it! I have a khaki utility jacket from Coldwater Creek as well as one that is olive from Talbots… I’ve had them for years. They are both workhorses and are terrific “between seasons”!

  10. Hi Cyndi,
I know what you mean by those in-between clothes. I enjoy wearing light weight jakets and cardigans during this time. Not to metion my flats. I have a St Johns Bay Jean Jacket that I purchased from JC Penney a few years back. I really enjoy wearing it. Love your flats too.

  11. Hi Cyndi! I’m visiting from The Pleated Poppy link-up. You are adorable! The in-between seasons are my favorite, because I really enjoy wearing jackets and cardigans and not fussing with a heavy coat. 🙂
    Blessings ~ Jenni

  12. Cyndi, you are so adorable! The jean jacket looks great on you – a favorite of mine as well. It pairs so easily with dresses, capris and skinny jeans! Thanks for sharing your cute outfits and your beautiful smile and words of wisdom! You bring a smile to my day! 🙂

  13. I have a green jacket from JCP just like your tan one. We’ve had some in between weather lately, so I’ve been wearing that one. I also have a denim jacket that I love. 🙂

  14. Love your Beauty For The Heart. Our children are never too old for our guidance! I know I never was, and wish my mom was still here to listen and guide. I depended on her and always valued her opinion. We never “outgrow” our moms!

  15. Hi Cyndi – love your blog! How would you say the JCPenney jacket runs? I am between L-XL – short arms and busty! so I can’t decide on the size to order. thanks!

  16. LOVE the jacket. I just picked one up from Nordstrom in Navy that looks just like that! Unfortunately, our weather hasn’t warmed up enough to wear it though…. we are still bundled up. 🙂 PS ~ LOVE the shoes.

  17. I love jackets and think both of these are great examples for our age group…. The denim is such a classic while the utility jacket is more modern. I have a pink utility jacket I bought recently… I am in amazed that you are wearing wedges as mine don’t get used until temps reach the 60’s… I need socks! Two really great outfits with neutrals!
