Sunday Encouragement from New York

Happy Sunday friends! I hope you’re enjoying your Memorial Day weekend. Wayne and I are in New York City! We’re excited to be going to The Brooklyn Tabernacle today and getting to meet with Jim Cymbala, the pastor.

Wayne and I visited The Brooklyn Tabernacle several years ago and couldn’t wait to come back!

Jim Cymbala has written several books but one of our favorites is Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire. This is one of those life changing books. If you haven’t read it, you might want to add it to your summer reading list. You can find it here.

Of course we’re also going to do some sight seeing, and shopping. There’s so much to do! I’m sure I’ll be sharing a lot of pictures on Instagram.

What are your plans for this Memorial Day weekend?

I’ve been listening to this song all week. Have you ever gone through a difficult time in your life and as you looked back, you realized you were never alone? God was with you the whole time!

Have a blessed Sunday!

  1. I love “Fresh Wind Fresh Fire” It’s been years since I read it though. I think I will read it again after your reminder that I have it.

  2. Cyndi, thanks for sharing this. Thanks for being transparent and sharing some of your family’s struggles. My husband is a pastor and lost his job nearly a year ago, because the higher-ups chose to believe some lies about my 43-year-old husband, that had supposedly happened 30 years previously. I’ve been really struggling for the last year. We lost our home, and main source of income, and our friends in ministry– they knew the truth, but are afraid of losing their positions if they come to the aid of my husband.

I only say all of this because in sharing your struggles, though they are not the same, you help me. I pray all is well in your world, and that the struggles that you referred to are in the past and no longer a problem anymore.

I read each and every one of your posts, and I love that your heart is for the Lord, and that you give excellent fashion tips for all of the over 40 crowd. 🙂 Thanks!

  3. Blessed Sunday! How fun to be in NYC and going to church at the Tabernacle…so fun to attend different churches when you visit places 🙂 . I have never shopped in NYC, but I am sure it has EVERYTHING and more, so ENJOY! Since we finally have three days in a row without rain here in southwestern PA, this farm family is mowing hay and chopping it for the silos…YAY! But I am sure we will still grill out and eat some strawberry shortcake…hooray for sunshine!

  4. Good Lord’s Day to you Cyndi! I’m so happy for you to get to be there with your husband! And I’m a little jealous (blush) I’ve never been there. Thanks for sharing the book. I’ll try to get it to read. You’re so sweet to share with us as you’re on your month sabbatical. Sounds like you’re getting all you can from it. Bravo! Be safe. Hugs to you.
