Happy Memorial Day! I hope your day consists of some outdoor summer fun! But I hope you also take time to reflect on the sacrifices that have been made for us by our military.
I’m so thankful for the men and women who have fought and died for our freedoms. They are heroes!
This is one of those long overdue posts. Several months ago, I purchased the IIID foundation from Maskcara. Many of you asked for my opinion.
The IIID foundation comes with the contouring foundation and highlighting concealer duo.
I put off reviewing it, because when I ordered the foundation, I ordered the medium shade and it’s too light for my complexion. Most people need the medium shade but my olive skin needs the dark.
So….I was going to order the dark but Cara is making changes to the foundation. She’s adding more colors and changing the consistency.
It should be out in a few months, so I’m going to wait and try the new line.
For me, the foundation was too light so it’s hard for me to say if I like it, or I don’t like it. I loved the feel of the foundation.
I also love the concealer and use it now to highlight with but it doesn’t cover my dark circles enough to use under my eyes.
Here are some things I will say, Cara is one of the sweetest bloggers out there and I love following her. She’s also one of the best makeup artists I’ve ever seen.
She knows what she’s doing! The IIID foundation is not for everyone but I have no doubt it’s a great product.
When the new product is tweaked and is ready for purchase I’m going to give it another try. Hopefully, I can get the right shade and show you how it looks.
I’ve recently switched my foundation and I’ll share with you what I’m using tomorrow!

I tried the first generation IIID contouring kit last year and had mixed feelings about it too.
BUT….the new generation is totally different! The consistency, colors and quality is much better. I encourage you to try again!
And, yes, Cara IS so sweet, sincere and talented 🙂

I tried it and I don’t think it’s for me. Without powder my face would be an oil slick, and with it you lose all the luminosity Cara seemed to be going for. I love her blog, though.
I had to stop to check out your review. I too am waiting for a new formula. I ordered the medium too as soon as it came out (I was so happy to get it before she ran out of the first round). I am not of a dark complexion or olive tone, but it was impossible to contour with as it was too light. I have thought of ordering the dark, but will be waiting for the new formula. There was just no coverage. Cara is amazing and has taught me so much through her videos and blog. I will be waiting for her new formula before giving up.
I have tried it! I do really like the foundation. It makes conturing really very easy and quick. I have already ordered my second one, but like you, I switched to the dark as the medium was ok for winter time, but I will definitely need more color for the Fall. The only negative thing I can say about it is that the packaging is pretty cheap. I’m sure this is done to keep the cost down for us, but my compact broke in several places making it difficult to use. Maybe I’m just too hard on my make up! But it’s a great product, and I absolutely purchased it again.
