Summer Fashion-For Women Over 40

I’m glad to be back home but as you can imagine, I’m exhausted! I also didn’t get to snap a picture yesterday so I’m cheating, and sharing some summer fashion from last summer.

I realized I haven’t worn any of these outfits this summer so I need to wear them before the season is over.

Beauty For the Heart~~This past week, Jen and I were talking about Elisabeth Elliot. She’s a christian writer and author. I’ve been looking up some things about her. I read one of her books year ago.

Here’s a quote by Elisabeth Elliot that’s so true of us as women, “One reason we are so harried and hurried is that we make yesterday and tomorrow our business, when all that legitimately concerns us is today. If we really have too much to do, there are some items on the agenda which God did not put there. Let us submit the list to Him and ask Him to indicate which items we must delete. There is always time to do the will of God. If we are too busy to do that, we are too busy.”

Let’s focus on today! Because each day is a gift and before we know it, it will be gone.

 Have a blessed day!

  1. I love that striped dress Cyndi! So cute and comfy looking too! I love Elisabeth Elliot as well – what a woman of faith!

  2. I love this idea and am totally going to try it. I feel like sometimes I look in my closet and say, “I have nothing to wear” when in fact I have so many things. It’s time to wear them or donate them to someone who can use them. Thanks for the tip.

  3. Be ruthless. If it doesn’t fit and you know you are never going to lose -or gain – the weight, then toss it. If you truly believe you can and will lose the weight, then pack it into a tote or bag and write down a goal date for it to fit by. If that day comes and you still don’t fit it (with no progress made on your goal) then toss it. Reevaluate your goal if you are on track and close but no cigar.

If it is something that doesn’t flatter you let it go. Have a good – and honest – friend or two help with this if you need it.

  4. I hang my hangers backwards at the beginning of the season. As I use them, I turn the hangers around. Then, at the end of the season, all the backward hangers are items I have not worn so, unless there is a dire reason to keep them, it gets donated!

  5. I wish I had that willpower to purge like you ladies do, I’m trying! I just went thru my closet and need to be strict about it as I’m moving soon! But, it is hard for me!! Any tips, anyone?

  6. I wear everything in my closet. If I find I haven’t worn something in a season, out it goes to someone who can use it and appreciate more than I evidently do.
I keep a bag in my closet for Goodwill, to purge as I find items no longer working for me;)

  7. All of the outfits are cute – I really like your sandals in last picture! I have been trying to wear some of my older summer things to see if there is a reason to keep hanging on to them. Most of them seem to be just stuffed in my closet while I tend to wear out the newer things! It is a discipline to purge!! Blessings on you <3
