I purchased these shoes at Macy’s about a month ago. The brand is Alfani, and I can’t find the exact pair online but they are at Macy’s.

Teresa you are absolutely right!! We are to serve the body but it doesn’t stop there. As a pastor’s wife it’s “comfortable” for me to serve the saved. But I want to step out of my comfort zone. There are lost people who need to know the good news!

Susan I love your opinion!! and you’re right, our western churches do a lot.
But I also wonder some times if we (I) could do more.
Our church does all of these things too, but the vast majority of us (me) are still very “comfortable”.
I’m asking this of myself more than I am anyone else.

Very cute. Definitely one of my favorites of all that you have posted. I see where you are “in love”. Feminine and sexy! Although I would not have done a black camisole…just me. Ok…for the church comment. I think maybe Jen Hatmaker meant that church is a place where it is EASY to stay “Off Mission”….not that everyone (or the church) does stay off mission . Although there are churches out there that are “OFF” Mission. I was involved with a church like this. Only caring for the people within….which, of course, we should do too. We need to purpose to serve people outside the church. And, yes, there are lots of churches doing this. Thanks for all your posts Cyndi.

They (the world) will know you are Christians by your love! Ministering to our Brothers and Sister so God will receive the Glory!
Also, in regards to the church serving the saved…that is something we are DEFINITELY supposed to be doing as well. Loving our brethren includes serving each other. Jesus also set the example for that with the washing of feet. And there are many scriptures that address our love and care for each other…particularly orphans and widows.
I think our churches do a wonderful job of meeting the physical concerns of our communities. However, our calling is the Great Commission bringing spiritual souls to meet Jesus Christ and this is where I wonder if the body of Christ could do better, myself included. We come to Christ individually and our personal obedience to Christ’s calling is individual as well. I know many of us long to hear Him say one day, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”. Reading Cindi’s Blog and her readers comments for several weeks now, I can tell their are some wonderful Sisters-in-Christ whom I would love to meet! Blessings all around!

Teresa: Sometimes it is frustrating when I hear the worldwide criticism of the western church…yes…we can all do more, but the western church does so much in this country and around the world…it is always better to ENCOURAGE rather than discourage one another…after all, Jesus was the perfect example of ENCOURAGEMENT…Happy Friday, everyone! 🙂
Susan, Thank you for speaking up on that. I know our local churches do likewise. It all comes down to the individual participating and doing their part in/ through church as called/ gifted. Those little members working their part in one spiritual body. It’s too easy for people to jump on the negative and what better way for Satan to accomplish his goal of causing division in The Lords body than through negativity and criticism. We need to encourage one another and build each other up not tear each other down.
I have to respectfully disagree with Miss Hatmaker’s quote. I think the western church does so much more than most think: in our small county in southwestern PA, the churches are the ones who feed the hungry through daily lunches and food pantries; who clothe the needy through monthly free clothing drives; who supplement basic health care by free clinic days 4 times throughout the year; and assist with basic housing through spear-heading the Habitat for Humanity projects, all from the pockets and sweat of its members. In our community, the churches are the first groups to respond to natural disasters, not just in our state but throughout the country (our county’s churches aided during Hurricane Katrinia, 9/11, Oklahoma tornadoes, and monthly blood drives). I live in the poorest county in the state but our churches LIVE the example of Jesus Christ by helping, serving, and preaching the gospel in action. Of course, we can always do more to reach out in Christian faith, but I am convinced the western church does, indeed, seek to reach those forgotten by the larger community. Just one girl’s opinion over here in PA! 🙂
