It’s My Birthday And I’ll Cry If I Want To

Well, it is my birthday but I’m not going to cry! I’m thankful for another year of life! My Mom always said not to fret over getting older but to remember, life is a gift, use it wisely.

We celebrated my birthday on Friday night and this sweet fella helped me blow out the candles.

So….I did get some birthday money. Yay! And I’m going to buy a new pair of riding boots. My old ones are worn out! I know what you’re thinking, Why didn’t I buy a pair at the end of the winter season?? Good question. I don’t have a good answer. 🙂

I’d like a cognac color and I don’t want to spend over $200 so Frye boots are out. I just can’t justify $400+ for a pair of boots.

I’m so thankful I didn’t grow up with social media. My heart aches when I see people use social media in a negative way. Let’s remember to honor God with our words!

  5. Ohh sorry they don’t have your size. I just got them and I LOVE them….maybe some place else will have them. I always ask myself when I am debating on buying something…” Would Cyndi Spivey wear this?” You have such great class and style. I also kept going back and forth on whether I should splurge on a pair of Fryes. I ordered a pair from Nordstroms, tried them on and returned. They were nice, not quite the color I was looking for. But most importantly I could find a pair for 1/2 of that price. I love how transparent you are with us…thank you!

  10. Happy, happy birthday! I’m a big fan of boots of all kinds. I do like the riding boot trend a lot and hope it sticks around for a while. I purchased a pair of Isaac Mizrahi last year from QVC. They are nice quality, leather boots and come in several colors, including gray. Price was less than $200. 🙂 Happy shopping!

  15. I bought these exact boots last year in the Banana Bread colour which is cognac. I love them, very comfortable and I wore them a lot! I would highly recommend them.

I was so glad to see the photo of you and your grandson – I was just wondering how he and your daughter are doing this weekend, for some weird reason. I have Bandolino riding boots I bought on sale last year and they are very comfortable, but I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the ones shown here.

    I like the look of pair #2 and pair #5. I just recently purchased a pair of Vince Camuto boots, but they are over the knee riding boots and black. I, too, love the Frye boots, but they are pricey. 🙂

    I can’t wait for fall fashion. It is my favorite.

    Enjoy your birthday. I don’t know how old you are, but you could pass for 35 or under easily!

  26. I loved my Lucky brand riding boots! Unfortunately, my puppy, who never chewed anything………..found these boots! Ugh! I’m on the hunt for new ones but I like a little wider toe box even though my foot is narrow! I hope you’ll report on the choice you make! Happy Birthday!

  29. Happy Birthday!! The riding boots I have are from QVC by Isaac Mizarahi. I have both black and brown and love them. They are so comfortable and gets softer as you wear them. They are under $200.00 and sometimes on Easy Pay.

  30. Happy birthday to you! Thank you for always giving me something to look forward to. I totally agree about the social media thing. My brother & I were just talking about this recently. We can be so careless (& foolish) when we are young. I wonder how so much of this stuff will follow people around for the rest of their lives. It is also a way to “keep a record of wrong” which is not what love is supposed to do. (1 Cor. 13:5❤️ ) As for the boots, let me just say that Bandolino is my favorite. They last FOREVER and they are truly comfortable too. You could really live in them if you wanted to.

    It’s always hard to tell from pictures, but I like the look of the middle top pair — rich color and nice lines. They look expensive =0) so if they aren’t…bonus!
    But it also matters how they feel on, because some boots can really hurt your ankles! Happy boot shopping for your birthday!!!

  36. Yay to new boots! I love riding boots! I wouldn’t go with number one…too light to be versatile. I bought a pair of Sam Edelman last year and love them! Take a look at Nordstrom online at the Sam Edelman Penny boot and see what you think. Free shipping/free returns…love Nordstrom! (Mine were a different pair but I really like these this year)

  38. I have a pair of Clark’s boots as well. They are hard to beat for comfort. To me, a good ole traditional Kentucky horse -riding boot has to have a buckle at the ankle. Not sure if this is true, but that’s what comes to mind! Cognac is a great versatile color too!

    I love riding boots too. I dont have any in cognac but that color really seems popular this year. I have two pair in brown and one in black. I love wearing them with a jean jacket and skirt.

  43. Happy Birthday! I see aging as your mother described it, even more so since my father passed when he was just 42. I feel a strong need not to waste my time and live it well since he couldn’t!
    Cognac riding boots are a great gift for this upcoming season as this trend is going strong. A cognac belt is a must have as well.. No advice on boots, but do love the Anne Klein version here and what a fabulous price! I am a certifiable bootaholic and am not buying any more as I did get some end of last season…

  48. Perfect timing! I am looking for a cognac pair of boots to and want to spend u der $200. I just ordered 2 pairs diff sizes from the Nordstrom sale. I will send link when I get home. Sitting in car waiting for daughters field hockey practice to be over. Rushed to get here by 10am and they are still practicing. Feel like I do a lot of hurry and wait:).   50. Happy Birthday to you! Hope you have a blessed day!! I purchased a pair of Sam Edelman’s last year, reasonably priced and so comfy. I actually asked for a pair in black for Christmas because I liked them so much. I believe the style is called Penny. I purchased them at Nordstrom.
