Take An Outfit From Summer To Fall

I know it’s still summer but usually about this time of the year, I start transitioning some of my outfits to a more fall look. There’s nothing fancy about this outfit but it’s something I wear when I’m running errands. Here’s how I take an outfit from summer to fall.

Take An Outfit From Summer To FallI’ve had this navy blue top from Old Navy for several years and you probably have something like it in your closet. As fall nears, instead of wearing it with white pants, I like to wear these green pants I recently purchased from The Limited.

Take An Outfit From Summer To FallI obviously have no problem carrying a big handbag! I usually have my ipad in my purse so it’s nice to have something this size.

When do you start transitioning your outfits to fall?

Beauty For the Heart~~My heart is so heavy this morning for the family that lost their journalist son to a beheading by ISIS. Can you even imagine if that were your child?? Today would you join me in praying for this family and all those that are suffering in Iraq.

Hear my prayer, Lord, listen to my cry for help; do not be deaf to my weeping. I dwell with you as a foreigner, a stranger, as all my ancestors were. Psalm 39:12

Have a blessed day!

  1. Cyndi, I am fairly new to following your blog, but want to say I love you and how you dress! I appreciate your flowy tops:), and think you always look nice. I LOVE your Beauty for the Heart part daily also! God Bless you!!! Karen S.

  2. Cindy, First, I love your blog and check it every day! I love getting the email updates! Your style is perfect! I also have that navy top from Old Navy and a pair of olive green skinnies. I just usually pair those olive pants with white or orange, but the navy looks great! I don’t have any flats, they hurt my feet, but I do have a pair of slightly leopard Sperry’s which should work. This is an easy going outfit I really like for running errands or carpooling my kids or going to their athletic games. Now to change this up just a little when it gets cooler, I might wear a white T and my denim jacket and a statement necklace or scarf.

I can’t for the life of me understand why someone feels it appropriate to be critical of the outfit you choose to post. We all have different comfort levels as far as how fitted we want our clothing. You are quite gracious in your response.
quote from Ellen. another writer that said it better than I could. Too bad the previous writer did not heed her own advice about not saying anything. obviously by her own comment she is not someone that has read all your dailies.
It is so difficult to get ones head around the evil we are seeing so much of. This makes blogs like yours that much more important. your attention to our inner spiritual beauty is so timely. THANK YOU

  4. I can’t for the life of me understand why someone feels it appropriate to be critical of the outfit you choose to post. We all have different comfort levels as far as how fitted we want our clothing. You are quite gracious in your response.

  5. I thoroughly enjoy reading your blog and seeing all of the styles you put together, period. Your styles show a variety of outfits for everyday life and ways to interchange the clothes we have in our closets. You are awesome and incredibly kind not only in your spirit but in your reply to Cindy.
It is heartbreaking what that family is going through. We all suffer heartbreak in our lives but the loss of a child, no matter their age, is diffficult to ever recover.

  6. Dear Cindi, The more I follow your blog the more I admire you! The heart of your blog reads, “Walking in Grace and Beauty, Inspiring women to be beautiful from the inside out.” You offer fashion ideas but you live grace, and that’s what makes you beautiful from the inside out! The fashion industry does it’s best to conform us to their image but each of us should follow our own style conscience. You handled a ‘difference of opinion’ comment very maturely and that is woman of grace first, and beauty second!

My heart aches for this family who lost their son to such evil brutality. I pray for God’s love and comfort to cradle their broken hearts.

  7. I typically do not weigh in in the comment section, but, tonight I just want to say how much I appreciate showing us simplicity in everyday wear! Please don’t stop. Secondly, I appreciate your modesty and do not feel at all that the majority of your tops are too loose. I think they are cute and appropriate. I think you have such good taste and find it “real” when we see outfits that aren’t always too dressy. You do a really good job showing all styles of clothing. I’ve had a lot of fun sprucing up my wardrobe from your blog! So, now I’ve commented! God bless!

  8. Cyndi, thank you for taking time out of your day to give much needed ideas and simple changes that have really helped me but not only in fashion sense but in your openess to talk about The Lord, what an awesome opportunity to spread the word and I applaud you. It’s been a joy to follow you thank you so much!

  9. I liked the post, Cyndi. I wore white pants today and was already thinking that I would put them away for next summer (it’s time!). Also, I have been so upset about the beheadding. Thank you for sharing your feelings with us.

    Susan

  10. I LOVE your transition outfit !!!!!! It was nice to see how you changed just a few items to reflect the coming Autumn . We don’t always need to go out a buy new things ( even tho that’s fun , sometimes that’s a weight on the budget ! ) . I like the flow and color of the top you are wearing . Very flattering on you and would be on many others as well .
Thank you for keeping our awareness up about the situation in Iraq . Praying for those living in it and the many others affected by this horrible mess .
Keep showing outfits you love and feel great in – you inspire me !

  11. Thanks for the transitional ideas! I’m definitely ready to change up my summer wardrobe and start adding some fall pieces! I have the same bag. I bought it in June and have been trying to wait for fall. I gave up last weekend and started carrying it and I love it!

  12. Love your ideas and your style. I always enjoy seeing what you put together. I tend to have a summer and winter wardrobe and probably could mix up the pieces more than I do. I will take a closer look at that. And Cindi, I am horrified as all of us should be by the senseless cruelty to our journalist. We need to keep families of all our soldiers and men overseas in our prayers.

  13. Hi Cyndi,
Reading your blog is one of the highlights of my day 🙂 I think you have a great sense of style and I have learned soo much.
There is a vulnerability in blogging, you share yourself, family. You have such a gentle, loving way about you and what you write. A comment was left about having freedom to voice criticism, maybe we could all agree not to do that here.
    You are loved Cyndi 🙂

  14. Yes these were small changes you have shared…but thats the whole point. Its small changes that help with the transition. It would not be appropriate at this point to wear a entire fall outfit. It’s still 85 degrees and hot up here in NJ anyway. This transition was nice Cyndi 🙂 your kind heart and love for The Lord is the best part about your posts. 🙂 thx for always being an example for Jesus! God bless .

  15. Cyndi, I get your outfit! I live in Savannah, GA & that is perfect for here as a transition outfit to run errands in. Thanks for being “real”! And, Cindy, we all have opinions but sometimes we should keep them to ourselves. We all love Cyndi & feel protective of her for all the suggestions she gives us. That being said, our prayers are with the family of the journalist that was killed in such a horrific way.

  16. Hi Cyndi….I will say it again, I think we all have to dress in what we feel comfortable in and if that is not a form fitting top, then so be it because that is where I’m at. I am a small frame, but because of being bigger around my middle, form fitting just doesn’t do me justice. What really helps me too is the colors that you put together. I am not good with piecing items together and your post show me that you don’t have to be matchy, matchy, and gives me ideas of different color combinations that I alone would not have thought of. Thank you for all your inspiration and ….if only I looked as good as you do for running errands !!

  17. Amen…..Judy! Cyndi you are NEVER a waste of time and I enjoy each and every post! I need some reminding that I should give running errands a bit more time and effort! Love both looks………..and how easy it is to make tiny changes and get a more seasonally appropriate look! Thanks !!!!!

  18. Hi Cyndi, I like how you’ve transitioned this outfit from summery to Fall. The darker pant, those darling flats and the substantial handbag don’t scream Fall, but certainly give a nod that a transition is upon us. Just yesterday, I was going through some of my things and wondering how I could “Fall” them up a bit.

I must tell you when I read of the beheading of the young journalist, I was horrified. I wondered what kind of evil must exist in an individual to commit such an ugly and gruesome murder . If that was my child, I would be helplessly on my knees asking God to strike that overwhelming thought from my head, so I could remember my dear one in prayerful peace rather than in such violence. I join you in heartfelt prayer for the family of that young man and hope that our Lord hurries peace, grace and courage upon them

  19. Dearest Cyndi, You are NEVER a waste of my time and I just want you to know how much I love this site(blog) and how I always find daily encouragement. I appreciate that you don’t run errands in sweats. I think you always look really nice. I am so frustrated here in California seeing people wearing t-shirts, shorts & flip flops to go out to dinner in. (And I’m talking about a nice steak house!) I love your style but I especially love your heart. Thanks for the prayer request today and thanks for sharing songs and all of the other loving things you do.❤️

  20. I would like to see you in more form-fitting tops also. However, you may have the same problem I have; mediums are too loose while smalls are clingy. That is not even considering that the size will change after washing! Today’s post was so worth it, if for no other reason than to remind us all that we need to pray for the family of the journalist killed! When it comes right down to it, fashion is really not all that important….but a great diversion! Thanks for taking us to a good place, if only for a few minutes

  21. Cindy I completely understand and you are right. I’m listening to what my readers are saying and looking for tops that are not so loose and I’ve started buying smalls instead of mediums. I always have room for improvement!! This is an older top.
Thank you for stopping by my blog, I know there are a lot of blogs that you can read and I’m honored that you stop here.
    Blessings friend,
    Cyndi

  22. Cyndi, Upon rereading my comment it sounds harsh when my intention was not to insult but to encourage you to step outside your comfort zone. Many of your dresses show your adorable figure but tops seem to trend toward blousy/boxy. I get frustrated that women over 40 (or 50 – ahem) are made to feel that we must hide or camouflage our bodies because they are not as they once were. It is possible to wear figure flattering, fashionable clothes that are still modest, not skin tight or skin baring. We are looking to you for inspiration in remaining fashion forward without looking like mutton dressed as lamb! P.S. I live in So Cal where fall transition is wearing short sleeves instead of tank tops – LOL.

  23. In addition to your polite reply, I liked the post. What is obvious to some isn’t to others. Just think how many people you’ve seen wearing sandals in the cold winter. This is especially relevant to those who live in very hot climates as it’s really more colour than style that signifies Autumn. (Although, I’m definitely not done with Summer yet!) I don’t mind criticism if there’s a point and hopefully we can feel free to voice it. Carry on with what you’re doing. I appreciate the everyday outfits.

  24. I so appreciate your blog. I think you have figured out the secret to successful blogging: posts that are just the right length (not too long and not too short) and always an uplifting thought for us to read.

It’s clever how the subtle changes you made to this outfit do indeed lend a more autumnal feeling to it.

  25. I don’t think you need to apologize Cyndi but you are very gracious to do so. When I see something like this, I think how nice of her to take the time to help someone who wouldn’t have thought of transitioning pieces. I agree with “if you don’t have something to say…” but to me that means stop! God bless you for your ministry to many!

  26. Viewing this was definitely not a waste of my time. I love seeing how you can make minor changes to move into the new season. And I love the casual look. It’s why I follow your blog. You are us, not made up like a model (although you could be), not wearing expensive, high end fashions. You wear styles like I wear only yours are put together much better. You have given me great ideas and my look has improved significantly since I’ve been following you. Keep doing what you’re doing Cyndi!!

  27. Thanks for your opinion Cindy. This is an outfit that I wear to run errands in, maybe I shouldn’t share these type of outfits. The transition is for early fall as the weather is still very mild.
So sorry it was a waste of your time.
    Blessings,
    Cyndi

  28. I really try to adhere to the adage “if you don’t have something nice to say . . . ” so I hope this is taken as constructive criticism. I think you are adorable and obviously I follow your blog (loosely) but this post is pretty much a waste of time. I do not see much of a transition here at all; you changed the color of the pants and swapped the sandals for flats. Also, the top looks like scrubs. As noted in previous comments something more body-conscious (no alleys or valleys) wouldbe more flattering for your petite figure. A scarf, vest or ankle boots would made a huge difference.

  29. Hello from the deep south! Florida checking in here, and ha ha! Also known as August is so hot and humid you will melt outside at 6am! I bought some cypress green crops after seeing them on you in the pantone post, I will be rocking them for my transitional look!
