How To Stay Healthy This Fall/Winter

It’s a rough world we live in today. The germs, bacteria and respiratory viruses that surround us have never been stronger or more antibiotic-resistant.

I’m sure many of you have heard about the respiratory virus that is affecting children across many states. Having a three year old grandson, I want to be pro-active in protecting him.

It’s also the time of year that we starting talking about colds and flu, and I don’t know about you, but I don’t want them!

That’s why it’s important to take action now to help your family stay healthy. Thieves essential oil is what we use.

Thieves Essential Oil is called “Thieves” literally because it came from a legend about thieves. Back in the 15th century during the plagues in Europe, a band of thieves managed to stay alive all while they were stealing from the dead and dying. When they were finally caught, they were questioned about how they were still alive. In exchange for a lesser sentence, they revealed the combination of herbs and spices that they used. Young Living created the Thieves blend in light of this story.

So, why is Thieves so awesome? According to my Essential Oils Pocket Reference, Thieves is an amazing blend of highly antiviral, antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-infectious essential oils.

The oils that make up Thieves are clove, lemon, cinnamon bark, eucalyptus, and rosemary. This oil smells SO good.

How am I using Thieves to help protect my family? Glad you asked! 🙂

  •  I use Thieves in my diffuser to help ward off germs and airborne bacteria.
  • My husband and I apply it on our feet every night. I keep a bottle in our bathroom so it’s handy and easy to use. (For the bottom of our feet, I don’t dilute it.)

(A 15ml bottle of Thieves oil costs 33.75 wholesale {24% off retail!}. There are about 250 drops in a 15ml bottle, so it comes down to about 0.14 per drop.)

Diluting does not take away any of the effectiveness of the oil but it’s a great way to make your oils last longer and save money!

  1. Very interested in this and have a few questions: Can you use a combination of oils all at once? For instance, can I use thieves, yang yalang, clary sage and joy in combination? Or do I use each one at a different time of the day. I’d like to apply once a day if possible. Otherwise I’m afraid that I’ll forget to apply one! Also do they leave a lingering smell? Would I be able to apply my own perfume afterwards?

    1. Yes you can use them in combination. I use joy over my heart, clary sage on the outside of my foot and ylang ylang on the inside of my foot. I use thieves on the bottom of my feet.
I use other oils depending on what I need for that day.
I hope that helps!! ( You can use your own perfume but not too much, it might mix with the oils.)
      Blessings,

  2. OK…probably a stupid question, but having never used essential oils (and literally knowing nothing about them yet–but I’m trying!) when you put it on your feet, do you have to wait for it to dry or put on socks or wait ’til you’re in bed or what?

  3. I’ve read bits and pieces of your posts on using essential oils, and my question is, do you have to use all of them every day for them to be effective (menopause/stress relief/antiviral etc)? Or do you just use specific ones for specific time periods?

    1. I use some of them everyday. I have them in my bathroom and I put them on in the morning and the evening. I carry joy with me and I use it throughout the day. If I’m having a stressful day I use stress away. I use peace and calming in my diffuser every night.
      Hope that helps!!

  4. What do you do with it for your grandson? I have two little kiddos and I’m scared to death of this new illness!! Especially since my daughter just started preschool this year. I’m starting to get very interested in essential oils. 🙂
