How To Wear White Jeans After Labor Day

Welcome to Day 2 of my 31 Days of Fall Fashion!

31 Days of Fall Fashion is coming soon!
Today I’m showing you how to wear white jeans after Labor Day. This past summer I styled my white jeans with a black tank.

Now that the calendar says it’s October, I’ll accessorize my white jeans a little differently. In this outfit, I added my chambray shirt, a leopard print belt and some brown booties.

I changed it up a bit and wore my leopard print flats in this picture.

All of these are basic wardrobe pieces and they help to make it easy when styling a pair of white jeans.

  1. Cyndi, your posts are such an inspiration. You exude beauty from the inside out. Thank you for such wonderful ( classy) fashion posts.
I think that in the first post when you wore the colour blocked sweater it would have looked fabulous with tan khakis. Perhaps the blue jeans were too much colour?
White is a staple colour in the closet. I wear mine year round.
    Looking forward to more posts!
    Blessings.

    1. I looked up “is it okay to wear white after labor day” on Pinterest and came across this post. I’m in my 30’s and was not raised by a fashionable mom up here in MD. It’s still very hot here this week and I really want to wear my white jeans which I only got to break out once this summer! I might give it a go! After all…in thinking about it…it is kinda ridiculous we are saying you can’t wear something after a certain date…don’t you think? Lol

  2. You are looking cute in your white jeans!!! I always love your styles!
I had this type of controversy about “white jeans after labor day ” in my Fashion group a couple weeks ago after the holiday and I had a mixed group of opinions. Some said “never” wear white after Labor Day and others like us said “sure”. I have to say that I used to continue to wear “white jeans” a bit into Fall then put them away also, for Spring. …. this Fall maybe it’s time to keep them out all winter! … maybe. lol

    1. If you noticed the pix I posted in my fashion group, I am wearing my white jeans with my Chambray blouse and tall brown leather boots, last week while in the college library with my daughters. So I am still wearing the white jeans, but thinking of adding them to my spring clothes already tucked in tubs in the closet! 🙂

  3. When I saw the title of this post, “How to Wear White…..” I got excited thinking I could forget my old fashioned fashion etiquette . Then I read all the posts….and I was like…Maybe not. LOL. You look adorable, and as someone else said, thanks for helping us get out of the box. Maybe I will in a year or two.

  4. This southern girl puts her white jeans away on Labor Day. There will be plenty of time to wear them next summer! 🙂

  5. Heck yes on the white after Labor Day, it’s 87 here today, I am a no white after labor day raised girl as well, but I love white jeans, especially with certain colors like navy, or nautical stripes, just think white looks better than denim. White and boots? Maybe not……..but you go girls if you like it~

  6. Who came up with the idea of not wearing white after Labor Day?
I think it is perfectly fine to wear white jeans/slacks at any time.

  7. I can’t do the ankle boots with the cuffed pants or the white jeans after Labor Day. You look great. I just can’t do it.

  8. White after Labor Day is a “yes”, though I do believe the material matters. I love Levi’s winter white ankle jeans, especially with my chambray. If you are smaller on bottom than on top this aids with balancing the figure. I am, however, uncertain about the ankle boots and the tucked shirt. You look beautiful but the cuff and top of the boot chop the leg and the band of the pant broadens your tiny waist. Compare with the first pic with the black top.

  9. I’m seeing a LOT this year about how to style white after Labor Day, and I think it’s GREAT! I’ve loved some of the looks I’ve seen with chunky sweaters and boots… However, I live in SW FL, and am in white denim Bermuda shorts today! It’s still 90 here!
Thanks for the recommendations. I can do a chambray shirt in January!

  10. I also love what used to be called “winterwhite”. i was, and is very popular for cruise wear and looks really good with fall/winter colours. I think the denim flies because it’s already a heavy fabric.

  11. While I’m sure it’s “okay” for most, I was raised by a southern woman (or in her accent…..suuuuhthun) from Savannah, GA who would come back to haunt me if I dared wear white (from the waste down) before Easter or after Labor Day. Just one of many southernisms instilled in me over the years!

  12. I just got into wearing white jeans this summer..and I love them! I want to wear them all year long. Thanks for your fabulous looks!

  13. I think it’s fine to wear white jeans after Labor Day but for some reason I feel differently about white skirts or slacks. Go figure. However, I am usually tired of my white jeans by Labor Day and ready for some fall things. Great job in your styling.

  14. Oh my gosh! I’ve never even thought about wearing white jeans in the Fall. Just this week I wore a French boatneck shirt that I love with white jeans–but I wore it with blue jeans because I thought white jeans in the Fall was a no-no. Thanks for setting me free! 🙂

  15. I wore my white jeans last week with a black scoop neck tee and black sandals. It is still warm here so it was comfortable. I won’t try to get away with it anymore though since it is October. I wish I could wear them year round! I have seen plenty of people style them with a brown sweater and boots and it looked fine.

  16. Yes. Have white ankle jeans & black top on today! Going to cross country meet so wearing sandles but love the leopard flats with your outfit,! Love them all.

  17. I love it! I was at bible study yesterday and myself and another women were wearing white denim jackets! HA! I don’t know if that’s a no -no but we were both laughing about it. The temps up here in NJ have been mild so it’s what we call “Indian Summer”. 🙂

  18. Looks great on you, Cyndi, but I have the same voice in my ear that Rebecca and so many others have…. our Mom’s saying “NO” to wearing white after Labor Day and before Memorial Day. But I agree with Rebecca, you have given many of us ladies more confidence to step out of the box, throw tradition to the wind and be stylish! Thanks, again… I’m stepping out today in my WHITE tennis shoes! 🙂

  19. No, I never wear white after Labor Day, but I do know that it’s “OK”. My three daughters (college age) do and they style it beautifully. I just have my mothers voice in my ear, “never wear white after Labor Day” and she went even further and said, “No white until after Memorial Day”. I would wear white tennis shoes and she would just cringe! I’ve definately broke the rule about wearing white before Memorial Day, how could we not with Easter as early as March some years. I love how you styled your white jeans, you’ve given me the confidence to break this rule!
