Sunday Encouragement-Life Is Short

It seems I begin many of my Sunday posts with, life is short. I had a stark reminder of this on Tuesday.

Sunday Encouragement-Life Is Short

Wayne and I lost our nephew, Tim Spivey, this past Tuesday in a horrific car accident. Tim hit a tractor trailer head on and was killed instantly. As you can imagine we’ve been in shock for the last few days.

Tim was my husband’s nephew but he had been more like a brother to him. (Wayne’s brother (Tim’s Dad) is 17 years older then Wayne.)

Tim leaves behind a wife and three children and one unborn son that is due March 2015. We are all devastated.

I have comfort in knowing Tim was a believer. Scripture says, “For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.”

While we mourn the fact that we won’t see him on this side of heaven, we know that we will see him again one day.

So because none of us know what tomorrow holds, let’s hug those around us a little tighter, enjoy the simple moments and if we’re holding any bitterness or anger towards someone, let it go, because life really is short.

I’ve played this song by Mandissa before, but it’s perfect for today’s post.

Lastly, I committed to 31 days of fall fashion so I’m sharing a dress from The Limited.

31 days of fall fashion
The temperatures have dropped this morning and there was some frost on the grass. Yikes!

31 days of fall fashion
I paired this dress with tights and these shoes from Rack Room Shoes. They’re so comfortable and perfect for this time of the year.

Have a blessed day!

***Rack Room shoes was kind enough to give me these shoes but all opinions are my own.

  1. I am praying for all of you. May God wrap his heavenly arms around you and give you some sort of peace and strength that only he can give. So sorry for your loss. Praying for
his precious wife and kids. There are no words for this pain but knowing he is in the arms of the Lord gives us all comfort.

  2. Losing some you love is never easy, but it is such a relief to know that He is in the arms of his precious Savior! God bless you all as you walk through this difficult time.
I also wanted to mention that you look stunning in that dress and I love it when you wear a belt…very flattering! 🙂

  3. So sorry for your families sudden loss, God is with your families but you still must grieve, praying for Tim’s young family as well as his extended family.

  4. I am behind in my blog reading and trying to catch up this evening. I am so sorry to learn of your loss. You are so right in saying that life is too short. We truly never know what day might be our last. Praying that God brings comfort to you and your nephew’s family. May the birth of his unborn baby help ease your broken hearts.

  5. I, too lost a nephew due to a head on collsion… May Tim’s memory be eternal!

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

    1 Thessalonians 4:13-17

So deeply sorry for your loss. Will continue to pray for Tim’s family as they grieve the loss of a very special loved one. May God continue to comfort you & Wayne through the days ahead.

  10. I’m so sorry for your loss! We are never really prepared for a death but one so tragic and sudden is shocking. You and your family. Amy

  11. So sorry for your family tragedy — for you, his wife and children. I don’t know how you got through the week and continued your blog. It’s amazing how we can do what we have to do in impossible circumstances. Prayers going out for you all.

  12. I’m so sorry for your loss. We too have experience the sudden death of someone young and close. It’s been almost a month and is still so painful. They same time heals. I only know that it’s just so very hard to understand. My prayers are with you and your family.

    Love the outfit!

  13. I am so sorry Cindi. My heart is sad for your whole family, but especially for Tim’s wife. My husband died suddenly seven years ago and it’s not anything you can ever get over. I’ve learned how to live with the pain. But I also have hope because I know I will see him again some day! Romans 8: 18

  14. I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my sister in the same kind of accident. My prayers are with your family. Faith is what brings us through these difficult times. May God bless you all with His comfort and love.

  15. Cyndi,my family went through the same thing last week. We lost a very dear friend last week to a massive heart attack. It was so devastating. Life is truly so short. Praying for you and your family.

  16. So sorry to hear of this tragedy. May your family feel God’s presence at this time as never before.

On a separate note, very cute outfit! I love wrap dresses.

  17. No doubt you and your husband have “walked this valley” many times with other people who have suffered a loss, but now it’s your own… and the pain and loss must be so overwhelming… I take comfort in knowing that our loving Heavenly Father is holding you close during this time of pain and loss… much love and many prayers are coming your way from all over, from so many who have been touched by you. May God continue to keep you wrapped in His arms and surrounded by His peace and love.

  18. separate comment. wanted to know if the dress came with a belt and how the crossover look is accomplished. is it a faux type so you do not have to be concerned about it opening or slipping >>>????

    1. Hey Brenda,
I added the belt. The dress is a faux wrap dress. The top doesn’t open up at all so I don’t even have to wear a tank under it.
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  19. I am so sorry for your loss. praying for lots of helpful friends and family to surround you with His love and comfort.

  20. Oh Cyndi…how I pray that the God of all comfort will comfort your entire family with His deep, profound comfort. May you all find rest in the shelter of His arms.

  21. So sorry for your loss. Praying for you and your family. You are such an example to me of faithfully serving and loving God every day.

  22. Cyndi
Im am so sorry for your loss, love and prayers to you and your family at this very difficult time. God Bless you all

  23. Cyndi,
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of family member. Praying for the entire family at this time. And yes, life is very short and we all need to be reminded to live each day fully for Him.

  24. I a so sorry for your loss. It is at time’s like these that God’s love manifests itself most powerfully. My prayers are with you and your nephew’s family.

  25. Oh, how very true that quote is and you are so right, we never know what tomorrow will hold. One of my oldest friends just lost her 15 year old son in a car accident Friday night (he was born just two days after my oldest son…we were in the hospital at the same time). Another 15 year old boy in the car also lost his life (I go to church with his grandparents). My friend’s daughter and three other kids were also in the car. Praise be to God, they all survived.

I lost my first husband, father of my two boys, in an accident when they were just 4 years old and 5 months old so I know all too well what your nephew’s young family is going through and will continue to go though in the days ahead.

    Prayers for all.

  26. I, too, am so sorry for your loss. God Bless you all! Thank you for the reminder to cherish each “normal” day with our families.
