31 Days of Fall Fashion (Day 6)

It’s day 6 of 31 days of fall fashion! Today I styled a sweater two different ways and to be honest I’m not sure I like either way. Sigh.

The first way I styled my sweater was with these Tommy Hilfiger boots from Rack Room Shoes.

31 Days of Fall Fashion (Day 6)

Something about it I didn’t like. I know I’d like my plain brown boots but I wanted to step outside my box.

Next, I tried my little black booties. Still not sure I’m loving it.

I’m still getting use to the booties too.

So tell me, how would you style this sweater?

Beauty For the Heart~~Thank you all so much for all your prayers. I know many of you know exactly what we’re going through because you have lost loved ones too.

I share about what’s going in my life because I want you to know that behind this blog I’m a real person. My family has struggles and heartache just like you.

More than anything I want you to know that even in the dark days, my hope is in Jesus Christ. He is my rock and I will cling to Him. My prayer is that you will cling to him too!

The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. Psalm 18:2

Have a blessed day!

***Rack Room shoes was kind enough to give me my boots for review.

  1. I followed your link to the pic of your brown boots, and I think these two toned boots would actually be better with that other outfit (plaid shirt and red vest). This outfit would be better with solid black boots, I think. Thanks for the inspiration!

  2. This is one of my favorite outfits of the fall. I like “busy” and pattern mixing. Saw similar sweaters at Loft and loved them but wasn’t sure how to wear them and now I KNOW! Thank you for the fashion and faith inspirations.

  3. Cyndy, I am so very sad to read of the tragedy that your family is facing. I can only imagine the sorrow you all must be feeling. You all are in my thoughts and I send my prayers for comfort and strength as you endure the days ahead. Take care. Laurie

  4. There is a lot going on with the top and scarf so I would keep the bottoms simple, sleek and smooth. Love your blog! Thanks for doing such a great job!

  5. I am crazy about that scarf with that sweater. Don’t change a thing on that! And I like it with jeans. For shoes, I’d try either a wedge bootie with the jeans coming over the top instead of rolled up (so you’d have to do something besides skinnies), a solid flat, or–dig this–a gray snakeskin flat. I love snakeskin!

  6. I think the sweater would be better with grey or winter white dress pants and maybe leopard flats or heels but that’s just my opinion – you always look great!

  7. I’m so sorry to hear about your nephew and will pray for all the family. I’m a “seasoned” nurse but am still struck dumb by each tragedy.

I love the 1st picture. But I’m not crazy about some booties is all. You always look so put together that I’m hard pressed to say an outfit on you doesn’t look good.

    Helaing for your family……

  8. You have such good taste in styling clothes, I am a daily fan, and I love your month long outfit styling feature. I might try an off white or cream jean/pant with cognac, caramel or cream colored shoe. The off white/cream would give an extended vertical line–flattering to any figure.
Keeping your family in my prayers for strength and healing. God Bless.

  9. You look great no matter what you have on! I cuff my skinny jeans with booties too but mine are shorter so my ankles show a tad. I have that scarf and love it! You are a trooper to continue with the 31 days and I certainly appreciate it. Keeping your family in my prayers.

  10. First, let me say, i will keep you and your family in prayer.

I’d like to see this outfit with a pair of cute flats – even though it’s a fall look.

    Blessings,
    Lisa

  11. Since you asked… I think the sweater and scarf would look nice with dark pants that are not jeans– and maybe a chunky heel….But I don’t know! I read your blog because I need to dress cuter, haha.

  12. never too happy with boots that look like one is going to a fire or the barn and the booties look out of proper dimension with the skinny cuffs.
really like the sweater and agree with another writer that white pants with it would create a nice smooth line.

  13. I agree with most. Too much color with the first boot. I like brown boots. There is a lot going on up top so simple on the bottom. But you’re still cute no matter what you wear. 😉

  14. I love the sweater and the scarf together! I like the color-blocking on the sweater and the patter on the scarf!! I think the 1st pair of boots just add too much more color blocking. I like the solid shoe, but I would wear my jeans uncuffed if I were wearing it.

I am very sorry for the loss of your nephew and what your family is going through… Thank you for sharing.

  15. I think the problem is with the sweater. I don’t care for the color blocking on the sleeves. I happen to think the cuff and the booties look good as that seems to be a new style. I am one of those people who thinks you can go overboard with riding boots with every outfit. It looks as though you are going to meet your horse!

  16. I am so sorry to read of your nephew’ s passing….may our gracious Lord cradle you and your family, his wife and children in His loving arms each day giving you all love, strength and His peace. Now, the outfit… . I agree with another reader that it needs the coordination of sweater and slack color with, maybe, gray boots…..the scarf would then compliment the outfit….and of course the most gorgeous is the person wearing the outfit even in great sadness you display such grace and beauty. You are an inspiration to all of us.

  17. I love the sweater. You work it last spring I think and loved it then. I don’t like the first boots and the 2nd ones are fine. I think brown would look good too. I love the scarf but I wear them a lot. You always look beautiful and very put together. I’m sorry for your loss. My brother-in-law died 6 years ago in an airplane crash and left 3 little kids. It seems so hard to go on but things do get better. It was our families faith in Christ that got us through it also. After 5 1/2 years his wonderful wife finally found a wonderful man to help raise her children and heal the pain. He is very loving and supportive of their memory of their dad and late husband and they celebrate all the birthdays and many things. We have also healed as a family because every year we do a run to remember him and the others that were lost and the money goes to scholarships for those who are involved in humanitarian efforts since that is what he was doing in Guatemala when his plane crashed. I wish you and your family the best. Thank you for sharing your real life struggles.

  18. I do like the black booties but uncuff the pants. The cuff adds an additional color. I held my hand up to block the cuff and the rest was really cute, even with the scarf. The scarf and sweater are another example of differnt patterns that work.

  19. I suggest getting rid of the scarf and going with a long necklace. I don’t care for the Tommy boots. Too much color going on with the sweater and boots and scarf. I vote for brown boots. But you look great!

  20. Cyndi-My deepest sympathy to you and your family on your recent loss. I lost my only child who was 32 years old 2 years ago. The only way to face each day with this loss is to believe God’s promises that we will be together again one of these days and I am comforted by God’s promises!…There will be no more pain, no more grieving. God Bless you! You are beautiful and I love your fall outfits!

  21. I do love the sweater (and shopping at JC Penneys). I agree with the ladies above, solid color boots or shoes. So sorry for your precious loss! Gods peace and comfort!

  22. You look great but I know what you mean. I have some colorblock sweaters and I always feel something is a little off. I think mine have looked the best when I wear a jean that matches one of the colors in the sweater. The outfit seems to flow more.

  23. I appear to be in the minority but I like the scarf with the sweater. I also “like” the boots with the outfit but I’d also probably lean toward a solid boot.

  24. I agree that there is probably too much color blocking going on with the tall boots. I like the booties, maybe in brown. I am not a scarf person, so I would wear a necklace instead. I am so sorry for the loss of your husband’s nephew. Heartfelt prayers for you and his family!

  25. I think I’d do a gray shoe…maybe some ankle boots? And possibly a long necklace instead of the scarf. I think the sweater is light and maybe it’s the dark colors conflicting with it? I still like your ideas, though!

  26. You are a trooper maintaining this schedule in that face of such a loss.
I think the issue with the boots is that they are also colour-blocked. Maybe just one cbed item per outfit should be the rule! 🙂 The booties are better, but then the scarf looks a little unbalanced and too big. Go with your gut and wear your brown boots. I guess there are boxes to keep things contained.

  27. I think the trouble is with the sweater, not the boots. The white at the bottom is less than flattering. The boots and scarf look great.

  28. Oh Cyndi, you look good no matter what you wear. 🙂 Love the sweater and scarf… continuing to pray for your family.

  29. Thank you for sharing your life with others. I was so very sorry to hear of your loss. Praise God for the PEACE and HOPE we have in the midst of our loss that we will see our loved ones again who knew the Lord. It is my prayer that everyone know God and the LOVE He so wants to share with us.

Love your sweater as well – you have the fashion eye!

    Blessings
