The Oversized Cardigan

Happy Thursday friends! I’ve been having so much fun with the 12 Days of holiday outfits! It’s been helping me get ready for all the get togethers that I have coming up.

Last Saturday I shared this oversized cardigan from Marshall’s with you on my What To Wear Black Friday Shopping post. The brand is an Italian brand that isn’t online.

The Oversized Cardigan

I love an oversized cardigan! They’re great on a cold day when you’re going to be running errands and you don’t want to lug a coat around.

Here are some oversized cardigans I found online. #5 is probably the closest to mine but they don’t have it in a tan color.

  1. Dear Cyndi
THanks for the feedback on the long cardigan. I fell in love with it, on you and wanted info.
I tried on a long cardigan at Wal mart and it looked like a hundred year old lady in a sloppy bathrobe. Not to be outdone, one of the ladies in the wardrobe challenge posted a site, I browsed, and found a pretty one. It is a cable, wool and seems more structured than the bathrobe one. Well, I ordered it in a lovely burgundy and hope to get it and love myself in it as much as I loved you and yours!! Anyway, taking a risk as I am short, and have 20 pounds to lose. Thanks for being you and all the great outfit ideas you have given me. God bless you and yours and Happy Thanksgiving.

  2. You look fabulous! I don’t know if I could, as a plus sized woman, pull that off without looking twice as big, but if I were thinner, I could run out and purchase that long cardigan.

  3. I love long cardigans and you look fabulous in yours! Since I am so short, I have to be really careful that they are not too long or too bulky or I look like the sweater is wearing me. About 5 years ago, I found the best fitting long cardigan at Chico’s. It is a large black and tan houndstooth pattern. At first I thought, “ooh, not that pattern” and then I looked at the tag and thought, “Oww! Not that price!” My daughter talked me into buying it and I have to say, it has been one of my greatest purchases ever. It has worn like a charm and looks great with any casual wear and I can still wear it today!

  4. Love the cardigan options you’ve given. I shop Macy’s quite a bit. Have you ever thought of having a rating system, maybe for Friday’s recap of outfits? Readers can rate each look with 5 stars, 4 stars, etc. Love that holiday work party black slacks and burgundy blouse! You look ready to dine in one of San Francisco’s finer restaurants. 5 stars all the way!

  5. I bought my first long cardigan this year – it’s very similar to yours. I wore it yesterday and was feeling really out of my element but was complimented at the grocery store. Isn’t it silly how a compliment can be so affirming? 🙂

  6. I am a petite, 5’4″ and small frame….can I pull a coat cardigan off?….I feel like they would be too overwhelming on me, but love the look with boots. Thanks, Cyndi for your thoughts!

    1. I hope you don’t mind my chiming In here. I have noticed that most women can wear most styles IF the proportion and fit is right for them. I have two daughters – one 5′ 4″ and one 5’10”. The taller one can wear larger patterns, and the shorter one needs to make sure she isn’t overwhelmed in any style, but keeping this in mind, they both look good in many styles!

    2. I often think about that as well. I am 5’5 3/4″ and thought I could pull it off, but a salesperson told me to be careful with the cascading cardigans because they make you look short and dumpy. 🙁 I was trying one on at the time, and she told me no way. I try to stick with one color and no patterns, and that works for me.

  7. Love your posts, Cyndi. I asked a question the other day and I think if got lost in the other comments…should we wear wide leg or straight (more slim) leg dressy pants to parties? I have wide leg and boot cut dress pants. I went shopping the other day to replace them, and all of the dress pants in the store were wide leg. Hmmm…

    1. Yes you did ask this question and for some reason, I thought I answered it but I must have forgot. Ha!!
I do think you can wear wide leg pants and look stylish. In my opinion, they look best with a heel. And I like a pointy toe heel.
      Hope that helps!!
      Cyndi
