31 Days Of Winter Fashion-Day 2

Welcome to Day 2 of my 31 Days of Winter Fashion. Today it’s all about basic pieces in my wardrobe.

One of the things I talk about is basic wardrobe pieces such as boot cut jeans, a cardigan, and a black long sleeve top. When you have some basic pieces in your wardrobe, you can mix and match and create different outfits.

I recently got this Leah paisley print scarf in my stitch fix box. You all know I’m a sucker for a scarf so this was definitely a keeper.

I paired this scarf with items I already had in my wardrobe. Gap is one of my favorite places to buy a cardigan. Old Navy’s cardigans are good but Gap’s last longer.

Some of you emailed me and asked about boot cut jeans. I don’t wear them often but I do have them. Boot cut jeans are still in style and are flattering on most body types. I’ve just had a thing this fall/winter for skinny jeans and booties!

I recently purchased a Michael Kors watch and I love it! 🙂

Do you use basic pieces in your wardrobe to create different outfits?

Alison, from Get Your Pretty On, and I did a Wardrobe Basic challenge and although it’s over, you can still get the pieces plus 21 days of outfits using those pieces. Go here if you’re interested.

Beauty For the Heart~~I’m studying Romans 5:12-19 this week. I love the contrast in this passage between Adam and Christ. Adam brought sin and death. Christ brings righteousness and life!

Here’s Romans 5:18-19 from The Message, “Here it is in a nutshell: Just as one person did it wrong and got us in all this trouble with sin and death, another person did it right and got us out of it. But more than just getting us out of trouble, he got us into life! One man said no to God and put many people in the wrong; one man said yes to God and put many in the right.”

Have a blessed day!

  1. Great outfit! I love cardigans. Have you ever put together an outfit with Lularoe leggings and tunics? (I don’t sell them-FYI) Just would love to see you put together an outfit with them, they have really cute patterned leggings and nice tunics.

  2. I love this outfit! It is one that I would wear, without a doubt. I’m a little top heavy, so skinny jeans and booties would make me seem even more so. I love a good pair of boot cuts though– they definitely help balance me out!

  3. I use to only wear boot cut jeans. Since I lost some weight last year I started wearing skinny jeans and find they are more flattering to my body type and height. I still wear my boot cut but now I feel I look better in skinny. I hope that style stays for a long time.
Love that dress and new scarf.

  4. I’m so to have found your blog! You are such an inspiration & I love your “from the heart” You look amazing in everything you wear…wish I could take you shopping with me 🙂 Have a Blessed & happy year!

    1. Do you have a TJ Maxx in your area? They usually have MK watches at better prices. Thought I wanted a MK watch, but they are heavy, got a really pretty simple Coach watch instead at TJ Maxx. Also, if you have a Fossil outlet store near you, they carry MK watches.

    2. Penny,
There’s always great and stylish watches for less at stores like Forever21, H&M, Altr’d State and Target! Try there!
      Blessings,

  5. Hi, Cyndi-
I love how your scarf really pulls together your outfit- it is so pretty and flattering. I have to admit I have scarf paralysis. I have a couple, but I find that I dislike having them hanging around my neck and interfering when I am doing dishes, laundry, playing with kids. Anytime I bend over- flop. There is the scarf in the way.

Is there an easy solution for this? Do you wear your scarfs as you go about your daily household routine or do you only wear them out of the house?

Thank you- I am a 40-something, fashion impaired mom of 2 who is learning a lot from your blog!

    1. Hi Jennifer,
I don’t think there is a solution but I do think you get use to it.
If I’m going to clean or do laundry I usually just take it off.
I’m probably not a lot of help!! ha!
      Thanks for stopping by,
      Cyndi

  6. Like the outfit showing bootcut jeans. I don’t care for skinny jeans and prefer straight leg or boot cut. I am hoping the skinny jeans go out of style.

  7. I like and wear skinnies often but I have to agree with you that boot-cut jeans look good and flattering on most everybody where skinnies do not. Personally I think boot-cut jeans balance out an outfit on most people’s physic and in my opinion, they’re more comfortable too. I’m happy the fashion world hasn’t “cut out” our boot-cuts! I have lots of basics in my closet and am a firm believer to not skimp on quality when it come to purchasing a basic piece. They are our staple pieces to wear over and over with endless wardrobe possibilities! Love your outfit Cindi…you look very comfortable and well put together! I’d love to see more outfits with boot-cut jeans on your blog!

  8. Cyndi– would love to see a list of what you consider the wardrobe basics. I appreciate your blog and your ideas- thanks. Happy new year!

  9. I have boot cut jeans but these look a little flared to me. Maybe mine are just straight cut. Love basics. Can’t go wrong with that look. You have great ideas.

  10. I just read that boot-cuts were really back in! Yippie……cuz Skinny jeans are not for me nor can they hide my ankle/lower leg splint……but with boot-cuts I can almost pull it off! Don’t get me wrong if I could wear booties and skinnies, I would…….but thankfully boot-cuts are no longer a no-no. 😉

    1. That’s a perfect start to the New Year! Be sure and tag a post on social media so we can all see your re-found boot cut jean style!
