31 Days of Winter Fashion-Day 9

Happy Friday friends! It’s day 9 of my 31 days of Winter Fashion. Today I’m styling white jeans, yes you can wear white jeans in the winter.

I was recently asked this question by Dee…..

“Hi Cyndi, was wondering if you might do a winter outfit with white jean? I’ve been seeing it on younger women but wanted to see how you might style them. Thanks.”

So here’s the thing, younger women will wear them because they don’t have the “no white after Labor Day” rule stuck in their head!

Some of us grew up with that rule and it’s hard for us to get use to wearing white in winter. White is actually in style this winter and I would love to incorporate it in my wardrobe a little more often.

Anyway, I knew the outfit I had in mind because let’s say it together, I saw it on Pinterest. Ha! (Not sure the source of this pin??)

I was going to wear my tan sweater from Old Navy but I was shopping at Macy’s and found this cape and well let’s just say a bright light starting shining right on it and I heard someone singing “Hallelujah”. Okay just kidding!

I didn’t know my right sleeve was cuffed until after I took these pictures. Oops!

I think I have a thing for capes and ponchos this winter. I can’t get enough of them!

  1. Hi! I live in the COLD north and need to find a shoe, not a boot, that I can wear with SOCKS! I am sometimes outdoors at work and cannot go without socks. ANy ideas? THANKS

  2. Hey Cyndi,
Just love those colors together, and cape is just gorgeous! I’m originaly from Chicago and always raised where you dont wear white after Labor day,,,(by the way who made that up?) Anyways, now living in Arizona and weather is summer and spring all year round Im enjoying my whites all year round. 😉

  3. Recently retired I find myself being very frugal. I found a sweater similar to your inspiration at JcPenney’s on sale and with my rewards I got it for barely over $3. I had the other pieces. Thanks for this inspiration!

  4. The lady in this outfit just looks pretty and lovely…brown color in winters gives an warm look which gives an good and warm feeling. The scarf with the cheetah print is stunning.

  5. Thanks for sharing this. I wore my white jeans with tan boots underneath and a green sweater today (I hadn’t thought to pull out the white pants lately).

  6. You absolutely pulled the white in winter off to oerfection! Love it with the tan boots and that cape is to die for! The scarf and your beautiful smile just tops it all off! My fave outfit so far too!

  7. Well, bless my soul…who knew you could wear white pants in the winter? But why in the world not when everything else is iced in white! Love this outfit, Cyndi. Going to try it myself. Thanks for being an inspiration.

  8. I follow you most every day. I think this outfit is beautiful on you!!!! This is my favorite outfit on you for the last couple of months. GEORGEOUS! Now, let’s see if I can pull it off.

  9. I love this outfit! And it looks really good on YOU!! I love your hair style today as well. (Must not be windy!;-)
I hope I can pull this off, too! Many Blessings!!

  10. Such a great combination of colors for you! Camel is not flattering on many people but you glow in it. I am a high school teacher and I wore some winter white jeans with taupe boots, chambray shirt and an infinity scarf that matched those soft shades and got a LOT of compliments from students. It may be a youthful approach but I do like a little brightening in the winter time. Dark clothes are lovely too but I thrive on variety!

  11. I do winter white after Labor Day, which is really a cream color, but I don’t wear summer bright white after Labor Day…can’t help it…my mom raised me that way! But your outfit looks great:) !

  12. Cyndi,
You look lovely in this outfit. One of the best Ive seen on you. I think that camel beige color is your color!! Thanks for all you do each day to brighten my e-mail messages!!!!!

  13. LOVE the white jeans, cape, scarf, and boots! I totally have the “no white” stuck in my head. S i g h ……………

  14. We bought this exact cape (but in black) for my MIL for Christmas. She is petite and all the other ponchos just swallowed her frame. When we saw this at Macy’s we knew it was the PERFECT one. I was right as both of you are such stylish ladies 🙂 It looks gorgeous on you, now I wish I had bought one for myself!

  15. Really love this outfit Cyndi. The camel cape and tan boot look so stylish, the leopard print scarf just pulls it all together. This is a style steal for me. More please. Have.a wonderful weekend.

  16. Love it!! Must agree have a slight issue with white after Labor Day too but trying to push through that idea. And I agree the mistaken cuffed sleeve makes you look like the rest of us.

  17. Love this look! Would, love to see your fur vest styled again. I picked up a gray one the other day and would love to see some other styling options! Love your blog and how it all goes back to Him.

  18. You have taken the cake with this outfit! You look fabulous Cyndi! White after Labor Day makes perfect sense as long as one isn’t wearing thin white, unlined fabric of some kind. White denim is as heavy duty as blue jean denim and just as winter-worthy. Love that cape, just love it and with the animal print scarf it frames your face beautifully. The boots of course are the finishing touch. I can tell you how much I enjoy this outfit, especially for winter!

  19. I LOVE this look! I always thought “winter white” was OK for what is referred as “cruise wear”. It’s lightly softer than bright white. Anyway, I don’t the the shoes and handbags after LD either, but the pants, coats, etc rock.

  20. I have some white corduroy pants so they’re definitely fall and winter wear. I have some white cropped jeans that I hardly wear, but with boot socks and boots, no one would know they’re cropped. I live in Florida, so ice and snow are not a problem, although we did have flurries yesterday! People were soooo excited! Thanks for your posts, love them all!

  21. Hahaha! So glad to hear that someone else has the bright light and Hallelujah on those special finds and must-haves! Still not sure I like the poncho/cape look for me. Love the white and tan look… Thanks!!

  22. I love the tan with white! But from Oct – March that rule is stuck in my head. I love you had the cuff up by mistake. Just means you are like us- not perfect but real. Cyndi, I need help with jeans that don’t stretch out after wearing a few hours. Any suggestion from you & readers. And don’t want to pay a fortune for them. Love your blog.

  23. This looks so cute. I do have a hangup about white in winter but they way you styled it looks so great, I’m going to have to give it a try! On a day when there is not slush and snow all over!
    Thanks for the inspiration!

  24. Cindi, you look great, and that cape is wonderful…..I love Macy’s and their sales and now I’ll be heading over there myself. The white jeans are fabulous! God bless.

  25. I asked on day 7 but didn’t get a reply. What should you carry as a purse with a poncho or cape? A clutch? A shoulder bag would not look right. I don’t like a clutch as it doesn’t provide enough room for all the junk I carry around. Just curious what Cyndi and you others ladies on the blog would do.

    1. Christine I carry the bag I shared in yesterday’s post. I don’t put it on my shoulder, just carry it by my side. I hope that helps!!
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  26. well that is really a terrific outfit. slick and clean lines.
for white after Labor Day it is only the shoes and purses that still bother me . BUT I have to admit I do not care for them the rest of the year. They always remind me of Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck..

  27. I only started wearing white jeans in the fall and winter because you and pinterest showed us cute ways to do it! Now I do it all the time! haha – Love it! I love looking on your site for different ways to wear what I already have, also joined stitch fix and love it! Thanks!
