31 Days of Winter Fashion-Day 13

It’s Day 13 of my 31 Days of Winter Fashion and I’m styling my favorite tan sweater.

There are certain basic wardrobe pieces that help you create different outfits. One of the basic wardrobe pieces for fall/winter, is a tan or beige sweater. There are so many ways to wear this sweater.

Today I styled my tan sweater with my olive green pants but you could easily dress it up and wear it with a black pencil skirt.

I’m running errands today and getting my HAIR CUT (I’m over due for a cut and color!) so this is a perfect outfit that’s comfortable and stylish.

The sweater is from Old Navy and my scarf is from Target.

These are tan sweaters with great reviews!

Several of you have emailed me about my lip color. Well, when I find a color I like, I stick with it! I’ve been using Maybelline ColorSensational Lipcolor for quite a while.

I’ve spent hours in Sephora trying to find a color I liked better but I always go back to this. I use a gloss over it and right now it’s Bobbi Brown but I can’t find the color I’m using online, it’s Cosmic Pink.

I don’t like dark lipocolor on me at all. I like a little color and one of the things they say ages women over 40 is dark lipcolor. Just something to think about!! 🙂

What’s your favorite lipcolor? I’d love to know!

If you’re new around here, I’d love for you to subscribe to my blog through email. You can also follow me on social media. I’m on FacebookInstagram and Pinterest!

Beauty For the Heart~~I put on lipcolor several times a day. I try to think of Proverbs 16:24 when I’m putting it on, “Kind words are like honey–sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.”

Let’s strive to let kind words come out of our mouths!

Have a blessed day!

  1. Thanks to all for lipstick hints. I small lips and have “never” been able to find a lipstick that looks good or stays for very long. Will try these listed

  2. Sometime last fall I stumbled on your recommendation for the Warm Me Up lip color and bought it. It’s a good one to add just a touch of color to your lips, especially since I’ve noticed that as I age my lips seem to be fading into my face. I also like that the color stays put. My 22 year old daughter borrowed it and liked it so well that she bought her own, so it’s a good one for all ages.

  3. Cute outfit – as usual! Pictures of your haircut please! My stylist sees your picture every time I go in. Trying to work up the courage to go with bangs again. It took me forever to grow them out and have kept them for a few years now but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your hairstyle!

  4. Cyndi,
I wondered what kind of skinny jeans you get? I get skinny jeans all the time but they never look that skinny on me…do you get super skinny or jeggings, maybe? I’m only 5’2″ and a size 6 so maybe that makes a difference? Thanks for your blog…I am loving the fashion for us normal 40ish women and I feel a kinship in Jesus with you 🙂
    Amie

    1. Hey Annie,
Hope Cyndi doesn’t mind me answering your question but I’m 5’2 also and the secret to skinny jeans is a super skinny in some brands for sure! If you haven’t tried the Loft skinny ankle jeans they work great for us short gals. The Wit and Wisdom denim jeggins from Nordstrom that Cyndi talked about last week are a winner but be sure and order down a size. They are too long for me but I tucked them in my tall boots today and will roll up with my booties. Im sure Cyndi has even better tips for you. Good luck!

    2. Hey Amie, I think a lot of mine are super skinny. The LOFT ones are definitely one of my favorites and I just got my Nordstrom jeans and I’ll be sharing them tomorrow.
      Thanks for stopping by!!
      Cyndi

  5. Cute outfit as usual!
Speaking of lip color, I’m currently in a quandary about it. I love Chapstick true shimmer but they’ve stopped making it and I am on my last stick (I bought about 6 of them when they started getting hard to find.). I use a Bobbi Brown sheer lip color in pink brown or something like that when I want a little more color and a chubby lip pencil when I want even more. I had those chapsticks everywhere- car, coat pockets, purses etc and would put it on all the time- just a little color and shine. Now that it’s been discontinued, I don’t know what’s going to replace it!

  6. I like Clinique chubby sticks. Melon is a favorite. Or all heart by Clinique. Goes with everything. You are right about too dark on older people.

  7. Hi Cyndi~ a while back you did a post about knowing which colors look good on you or not and whether you are a summer, spring, winter or fall person..remember?? I knew already that I am a winter, so “tan” is very blah on me. I guess the key is in the scarf then?? any other tips when wearing tan/neutrals to balance out the “blahness” 😉 I like the neutral sweater, but again, it just doesn’t look good on me 🙁
God bless, Have a fantastic afternoon!

  8. Just love your blog and thank you for sharing what your middle initial “L” stood for a few days back. Regarding makeup, have you ever had yours done at Macy’s?

    1. Hey Colleen, Yes I have had my makeup done at Macy’s many times. I like Bobbi Brown and Mac. I’ve also had it done at Sephora.
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  9. Thanks for the lip color name. I have read too that dark color ages you, so have tried to go lighter. Right now my lip color is from L’oreal # 610. (Eva’s Nude). Also just purchased Burts Bees lip stain in Fig and really like that. Keep up the good work! Love reading you:)

  10. Hi…love getting your updates everyday. I notice that you don’t seem to get snow where you are. I would love to see some of your ideas for winter outfits that include coats. I love trying some of your outfit ideas but in the winter I have to think of getting a coat over it. If I’m just going from one place to the next, who cares, the coat comes off as soon as I get there. But if I’m volunteering in the morning and then running errands all afternoon I’d like to have something that works better. And we get snow…and it can get really cold! Thanks :).

  11. Thanks for sharing this outfit! 1 I have that exact sweater and scarf, and olive jeans–pretty sure I’ll be copying this one. And a BIG thank you for the lipstick info! One of my January to-do items is to find a new, lighter lipstick and this helps.
