Valentine’s Day Style Challenge with J.Jill

I’m excited to be joining Audrey McClelland, Jo-Lynne Shane and Kristin Swenson for a Valentine’s Day Style Challenge. We’re styling a casual outfit today and on Wednesday, we’ll style a dressier Valentine’s Day outfit.

Believe it or not Valentine’s Day is this weekend and if you’re looking for a casual outfit, J.Jill has you covered. Truthfully, I had never been to a J.Jill store until last week and I was pleasantly surprised.

J.Jill has stylish, casual clothing in a wide range of sizes, plus accessories & shoes. I wore this outfit from J.Jill when I traveled to Nashville this past week.

For Valentine’s Day I wanted to wear some color and these slim boyfriend jeans were the perfect color. The weather is still cold here so I added booties but when the weather warms up, I’ll wear a cute pair of wedge heels.

I also added a paisley & floral scarf and their canyon metal hoop earrings which are a mixed metal of gold and silver.

This outfit is a fun casual outfit that would be a perfect casual date night outfit. For size references, my pants are a 4 petite and my top is an x small.

Beauty for the Heart~~Since we’re talking about Valentine’s Day, I thought a scripture on love would be good.

Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Romans 12:9

Have a blessed day!

  1. I think J Jill carries a very nice line of clothing but I too find them to run very large and long. Unfortunately for me, the cuts seem to be out of proportion as well and I end up looking frumpy. We can’t all shop at every store and though I like some of their clothes, they just don’t fit. ;-(

    1. Their online store carries most styles in petite sizes. I found one store in Tampa that carries the petite sizes, however the online has more selection.

  2. I love those red jeans! I have a pair and haven’t been inspired to do anything but a black turtleneck and black boots. Thanks for the inspiration. We have a J.Jill in my a area (Kansas City) and I DIDNT KNOW IT!

  3. You look adorable. It scares me when you post your sizes, though. I might look really fat in the clothes that you style since I am more a curvy size 14. Still I love your blog!!

    1. Hi Paula,
Some people want me to post sizes, I’m not comfortable doing it. I usually will if it’s a company I haven’t styled before.
J.Jill runs big so you would wear a size 12 or maybe a 10 in their clothes. 🙂
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

    2. Paula – I love J.Jill and I’m curvy too. I usually wear a 12 petite everywhere and I wear 12 in side zip pants here and usually a 10 in front zip ones. If you have one nearby, the salesladies are very helpful in tops – I’ve bought everything from XS to Medium on their suggestions and they fit great, I have to drive 1 1/2 hours, but I do at least once a season to check out sizes, cuts. etc. Hope this helps too.

  4. Curious; do they run large? This sounds like you perhaps ordered smaller than your normal size, is it because of the boyfriend style? I typically get help from your size references and this seems smaller. I don’t have a J Jill store so would have to order on line so any help would be appreciated 🙂

    1. HI Susie, see my comment below, I’ve been buying J Jill for a number of years, and I think they’re tops do run large. Buy one size down.

  5. Hi Cyndi…I know this has been discussed before but would you please comment on what kind of socks/no socks/ etc you wear with your booties and ankle pants that just meet the top of the bootie. I struggle with this! I have several pairs of booties..all with different shaft(????) height. It feels so chilly to wear no socks but that appears to be the look right now. I’m tall so when I sit down I have exposed ankles in the cold!! Comments please?

    1. I’ve tried wearing low-cut socks but in the pair of booties I have, they seem to run down at the heels and that isn’t comfortable. I suppose I just need better socks? I wouldn’t be comfortable barefoot in them, I don’t think. Cyndi, what do you do?

  6. Hi Cyndi,
Cute look for winter. I love J Jill, I’ve been wearing their pieces for about 5 years now. I think the quality is much higher than most of the “mall” stores, they are usually pretty classic in style as well. My favorite pair of skinny jeans is from them, and I’ve worn them and worn them, love them even more than the craze Wit & Wisdom jeans. They’ve been my go to skinnies for 3 years. Glad you finally styled a few things from them. I do find that their sizes in tops are a big larger, so i just purchase accordingly. Happy Monday.
