Fashion Over 40-Adding Color

Good Monday morning ladies! It’s still cold and snowy but I’m trying to beat the winter blahs by adding color.

I love adding color to my wardrobe especially this time of the year. This Long-Form V-Neck tunic is from Anthropologie and it’s versatile enough to wear now but I can also style it in the spring with leggings and a pair of flats or sandals. I think these leopard flats would look great with it.

I wore this outfit to church yesterday so I didn’t wear leggings, I wore it with my black ponte pants and this colorful infinity scarf I received in my Stitch Fix box a few months ago.

On the bright side, it might be cold but at least it’s sunny!!

Beauty For the Heart~~What is victorious living for us as christian women? Can we live victoriously? Absolutely!! Victorious living is taking one day at a time. Every morning there are new mercies (Lamentations 3:23).

“A daily recommitment is not to ensure that we’ll never fail, but to help us develop the mentality that every single day is a new day. A new chance to follow Christ. Obedience to God is not some diet we suddenly blow. It is something to which we recommit every single day, no matter how we blew it the day before. Victorious living is not an instant arrival. It is the pursuit of one victorious day at a time until the sun sets on enough to begin forming victorious habits.” -Beth Moore

Have a Victorious Day!

  1. I love that color blue – I have a shirt in the same color. Might have to look for a versatile scarf like yours to go with it! I am also adding color today I am wearing a coral colored cardigan! Makes me happier! Thanks for the inspiration!

  2. You look great in that color and the scarf is so cute! I like your hair pulled back as well – it looks cute! Stay warm and look forward to spring!

  3. I love the colors in the scarf with that blue! At least the sun is shining and hopefully the snow will soon be gone!! We’ve just arrived in Orlando and its 78 degrees here. I’m looking forward to wearing shorts to the theme parks tomorrow!!

  4. Your color looks great! I’m wearing jeans and a white top today. I’ve jut been home but headed out shortly. I was going for my white scarf but you inspired me to grab a more colorful one!! 🙂 thx for your daily inspiration too 🙂

  5. Hi Cyndi, your outfit looks great and so does your hair. Just wondering how long are you wanting your hair to grow out? My hair is very similar to yours and about the same length. Just wondering what you want your “new style” to look like. I have a hair appointment Thursday and need some inspiration! Thanks!!! 🙂

    1. That’s a good question and I have no idea right now. I’m just letting it grow. I do need to have a plan!! Ha!
      Thanks for stopping by!

  6. Once again, thank your Inspirational scripture & quote.! And of course, your pop of color style. Love the contrast of the royal blue against the white of the snow. Decided to add my own pop of color this morning. Like everyone else across the country, we are tired of the weather up here in Northeast PA. So to brighten up myself for our little trip to Dunkin Donuts for coffee, I wore my hot pink lightweight down jacket from Coldwater Creek purchased a few years ago. Sadly I had to wear it with drab gray jeans & turtle neck. Too much sloppy snow (when it actually melts a little) to wear anything remotely light colored. I even added a little pink lipstick!

  7. Thanks, I needed that reminder this morning as I sit here at my desk clothed head to toe in shades of black and grey with only a silver chain for interest…..color I need color! 😉

  8. Good Morning Cyndi,
Yes, that is a very versatile scarf… I love it with each outfit you have styled it with!
Your long, blue, blouse however, is one that I don’t ever look very stylish in. A blouse hanging longer then my hips, makes me look too big in that area and I can’t have that. LOL
I have heard that a person with the hourglass figure(as I have) is not to wear a continuous garment from shoulders to below hips because of accentuation the curves in that area. Not sure if this is a true fashion statement…. but I know my own body looks larger when I wear a blouse of this nature.
You have a very slim body and this blouse really gives your body more curves and looks great!!! You are a fashion guru!! 🙂 Keep on styling for us. I get useful tips for myself with each fashion. 🙂

  9. Hello,

I just love your blog. I enjoy the great tips you share. I’ve started using a couple of the hair products you’ve mentioned and they have made a difference. My hair seems fuller and looks better already!

Thanks for sharing your clothing and beauty ideas as well as your inspirational quotes.

  10. I have been feeling the need to add some color lately. Somehow I fell into the habit of wearing black/gray/red (or burgundy) almost exclusively lately. Today I’m still wearing gray but am wearing a gray and yellow striped sweater I picked up at the LOFT outlet a few weeks ago. It’s a nice change!
