28 Days of Spring Fashion (Day 19)

It’s Day 19 of my 28 Days of Spring Fashion and today I’m styling a striped maxi skirt.

I will be honest and tell you I’m not a huge fan of maxi skirts. I love them on other people but for some reason when I wear them, I don’t love them.

I do get emails from you all asking if I would style a maxi skirt so here’s how I styled mine.

I added color with my coral top from LOFT. I feel like I need color right now. I’m pale from winter!!

I puchased these sandals from Old Navy and they’re going to be great for spring/summer. I love that they have a little bit of a heel. They only come in whole sizes. I usually wear a 7 1/2 so I’m wearing an 8 in these.

Next, I decided to style this skirt with my converse sneakers. I see women wearing them with skirts all the time so I decided to give it a try.

I tied my chambray shirt in a knot because it didn’t look good tucked in.

So here you go, one maxi skirt, styled two ways!

1 Maxi Skirt, 2 Ways
How do you style a maxi skirt?

So I realized this morning that I counted the days wrong and my 28 Days of Spring Fashion is going to go into April for a couple of days. This does not surprise me with the way my month has gone! Ha! Can I mess anything else up?

  1. You look cute both ways and you’ve inspired me to go out and buy one tool! Just need to find one for my 5’3″ height. I hate how long they can be…

  2. I agree with most of the women … you look sweet in a maxi skirt but maybe try a flowing blouse instead of tying one at your waist. Just a thought, but I think you look great! I am 5’5″ and think I am too curvy to wear such a long skirt. I do love the maxi dresses… have you ever styled one of them?

  3. Love the chambray shirt, but because I’m thick-waisted, don’t think it would look good on me to knot it in the front. Maxi-skirts are so comfortable, I love wearing them. They go with practically any type of footwear.

Thanks for being such an inspiration! Because of this blog, I have felt truly inspired to be stylish at 41, that I’m not doomed to be frumpy!

  4. I think you might like a maxi skirt better if it was solid and not horizontal strips.
I style my solid gray maxi skirt with a knit top that has a light print. Wearing the top out and belted. Shoes are usually a wedge.
    Love my wedges!
Hope you enjoyed you Sunday off.

  5. I think it could be the stripes, but I do like the skirt with the denim jacket. I’m only 5’3″ and enjoy wearing cute maxi dresses (haven’t tried a skirt yet) being petite, I’m careful with large prints when wearing a maxi and normally wear a heel or wedge with mine for height.

Cyndi, have your tried a maxi with the hi-low hem? I just bought the cutest skirt with the hi-low hem at Steinmart. It gives you the best of both worlds, ha! I plan on styling mine with a denim vest and tee shirt.

  6. Love both styles! I usually wear my maxi skirt with some blingy flip flops and a tee on the hotter days. I like your idea with the tied chambray (or any button-up).

  7. Love the skirt with the denim jacket and coral shirt, very cute. However, I’m 5’3″ tall and have not worn a maxi skirt or long dress. Just feel like I look frumpy in them.

  8. like the maxi for many of the reasons already listed. they seem to be so versatile going from casual to quite dressy with just a couple of changes.
has anyone else noted that they did not receive their newsletter yesterday ??I am wondering if you have some bugs attacking your blog.

  9. I just bought my first maxi a few days ago. I am not a shorts wearer out in public so I thought a long skirt would be cool and comfortable. It’s black and white stripes and the stripes are really thin. And there is a nice wide waist band with shirring at the sides. I can’t wait to wear it!!

  10. You look adorable as always. 😉 My favorite is the coral top and denim jacket too. Looks great!!
sandals are cute too 😉 thanks Cyndi. Have blessed day 😉

  11. I’m with you… I like the maxi on others but not on myself. I am petite and I feel it make me look dumpy. I love both looks on you

  12. I don’t care for the chambray and coverse matchup with the maxi but sure love the other with the denim jacket and sandals. You should know that you look very cute in a maxi! Hope to see you wearing more!
