Fashion Over 40-Elephants and Tassels

Hey ladies! Before we talk about elephants and tassels, I wanted to say thank you for stopping by my blog. So many bloggers say their readers don’t leave comments any more. I want to say, come to my blog!! My readers are talkers! 🙂

You all are such a great community of women and I’m so thankful for you!! You don’t just talk to me, but you talk to each other and I love that. I love your opinions about fashion, and I love that God made each of us unique.

I want to have a “gathering” so that we can meet face to face. I’m not sure what that’s going to look like but it is something I’m thinking and praying about.

Anyway, I have something planned for June and I’m hoping it will help us connect a little more. June begins my 26 Days of Summer Fashion. I can’t believe it’s almost here!! Plus, I’m hoping to have my new blog design in June.

Now to my fashion over 40 post. I have said several times that I love printed tops and shorts. This is another printed blouse from Stitch Fix and the brand is Pixley.

The blouse has elephants on it and I love everything about it. I love the sleeve length, it’s comfortable and the material doesn’t wrinkle. Perfection.

Can we talk about these tassel wedges. This is a perfect height for a wedge and I have been wanting some tassels on my shoes. I’m in love. They are from Yellow Box and they have a lot of shoes to choose from!

  1. Hi Cyndi,
I just joined your blog and really enjoy it! I bought the Yellowbox shoes after seeing them on you…thanks for the inspiration!

  2. I love this top and the shoes are fabulous!

I’m also excited about your June series. I look forward to hearing what you have to say about shorts. I’m a (fairly young :)) minister’s wife and shorts are something I am very cautious about (in fact, I don’t wear them very often at all since there are not many longer options out there, and even when there are, because I am very petite, the longer lengths do not usually look good on me). I would rather forego something cute, though, than to offend; you know? I look forward to seeing how you approach shorts 🙂

Thanks for your blog and standing on truth. You’re always an inspiration!

  3. I LOVE your elephant top! Thank you for finding a similar one not provided through stitch fix. I just can’t afford to try it 🙁 But I can save up to get the top from ModCloth!

  4. Always love your blogs, Cyndi !!
This spring and summers traveling won’t keep me from scrolling back and hunting your blogs that I missed for a couple days…. here and there. You can count on me to stop in and comment… LOL
    I love your elephants and tassels… 🙂
You always look very chic in each style you pick to model for us!!
Can’t wait to see your summer collection! I will be in Ohio the Fri-Tues of June 5-9th for our daughters graduation… but will keep in touch. One day I would love to meet you in person!

  5. I’m one of the ones that never comments, however, I do really like your posts and appreciate the mix of topics and faith.
I just started following your site in the last couple of weeks. I finally found someone who I share similar style. Thanks!!

  6. So a few weeks ago we were talking about shorts. I tried a pair of nydj brand and absolutely loved the look and fit. I must add that my husband thought I was crazy for spending that much on shorts, but I patiently explained that I would rather have 2 pair of awesome fitting shorts than 6 pair that don’t make me feel good.

  7. I LOVE your blog! I’m new to the party, but I’m having a blast reading back through all your past posts!!

  8. Totally cute outfit and looks fantastic on you. It’s trendy but still age appropriate. Good job and thanks for sharing!

  9. Cyndi, just look at the amount of women who take time to comment on your fun day to day outfits. You have such a following and it is because you are a woman of God who has some spunk! I have followed other fashion blogs, but yours is the only one I still read faithfully. You really are speaking to so many women who want fashion that reflects godly values. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your ministry to women over 40! I love your elephants.

  10. I love your blog. Im 47 and have lost 50 pounds I love the tips because they help me stay fashionable still at my age. By the way how do you order the top?

  11. Hi Cyndi!
Love, love the outfit! I’m ordering the top, it’ll be a great addition to my wardrobe.
Your blog is wonderful, I love seeing it in my inbox. God has richly blessed you with many gifts and thank you for honoring Him by blessing us. I follow you on IG too (jennminus1n)
    Looking forward to tomorrow’s post!
    Jen

  12. Meet face to face with everyone would be amazing! What a great party that would be.
Your hair looks really great today. Love the top and I have to get those shoes.

  13. This is an easy one to comment on because I love, love, love your whole outfit! So chic and stylish. You look amazing!

I also appreciate the support and beauty for the heart encouragement that you provide on your blog. I look forward to your Sunday inspiration and your daily posts. I love your upbeat, sunny personality and you encourage me to keep trying. I also have been the recipient of some very kind comments from you and from other readers here and I am very thankful to have found your blog. Keep up the good work and thank you.

  14. Cyndi,
Just want you to know how much I look forward to opening up my email and finding your blog. You have most definitely been an inspiration to me, and I also love trying to put together similar outfits you wear with pieces of clothing I have. Thanks for sharing things in your life that are both difficult, precious and personal, because as we all know, life is a gift!

  15. Hi Cyndi,
Like many of the comments left, I too think your blog is a blessing. It’s a great balance of style, health, the LORD and sharing things about your personal life. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into your blog. You are a special lady 🙂

psst…remember the post about Victoria Secrets P.J.’s?? 😉
    xxoo

  16. Hey Cyndi,

You look great as always. I’ve got to ask if you’re using the 21 day fix containers to measure your food and following the meal plan? I have the program but haven’t started yet. Do you like the program?

Thank you for sharing your life with us. I look forward to your blog every day.

    Tammy

  17. I would love to meet up with you! I live in the Middle Tennessee area just a “skip and a hop”. What fun we could have!

  18. Cyndi, this is my first post, but not my first time on your site. I look forward to your posts every day. I have purchased so many things that you have styled! I love all the elements to this outfit, but especially your nail polish! Do you know the brand/shade name?

  19. I love your outfit here but as soon as the humidity returns here to Kentucky it would be too stifling for me…but perfect for today as we will hardly get to 70 up here in northern Kentucky. I wouldn’t have described your shoes as tasseled…I would call that fringe…both are similar but tassels are gathered…but love the shoes anyway…did they come directly from Yellow Box Shoes?

  20. Hi Cyndi! I agree with the other commenters…your interaction with us is one thing that keeps me coming back each day. I follow only about 3 bloggers. And funny thing about elephants and tassels (one trend that I actually like and can wear): I wore my elephant tee yesterday, and I am sporting a tassel necklace and bracelet today (all from LOFT). Check out my #ootd on Instagram: Anitamrobinson. BTW your hair looks especially good today! I am liking the longer length!

  21. I just love seeing new outfits to create that I can usually emulate out of clothes I already have. You are a daily inspiration and quick and easy to read. I love it that a pastor’s wife is brave enough to do a blog about fashion and allows God’s word to integrate into it daily. You shine bright!

    1. Thank you Joy!! I still can’t believe God can use a pastor’s wife on a fashion blog. I did pray about it before I started it and I still pray I will honor Him above all.
      Thanks for stopping by!
      Cyndi

  22. I am guilty of not responding very much. I do look forward to your blogs everyday. I have used your ideas so much since I started following you in November. I had a Stella & Dot a trunk show a couple of weeks ago. I have loved the jewelry. The first thing I bought was the rebel pendant. I do love it! Thanks for all of your advice. Please continue to do what you do for us everyday.

    1. Oh Amy you don’t have to comment, there are a lot of women who stop by and don’t comment, Thank you though for stopping by!!
I’m so glad you like the rebel pendant, I obviously wear it all the time!
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  23. Cyndi, I, too, have seen several bloggers talk about the lack of comments on blogs these days. One thing I think keeps people commenting on your posts is the fact that you engage with readers in the comments. So many bloggers never reply to comments–so you don’t really know whether they even read them. So what’s the point of commenting if you’re just throwing it into a well? And why do they end the post with a question–soliciting comments–if they have no intention of engaging in the ensuing conversation? And you even go one better:: your next post often starts out with “I started a firestorm yesterday,” or “wow, you all have plenty of opinions about pantyhose,” which lets everyone know that at least you read the comments. in short you show appreciation for the fact people take the time to reply to your posts.

    1. I agree, Bonnie. I have asked questions, etc. on other blogs & feel like my comments just go into the great unknown.

  24. Any shoe looks good on you because of your cute little feet! Although I am in my seventies, I look forward to your blog everyday. My new goal is to find joy in every day because I think God wants that from us. We need to recognize the gifts He has given to us so we might share with others. You share your gift with us each day and we are blessed with your grace and beauty.

    1. Thank you Peggy. Yes! Choose joy, life is short and we need to enjoy the gifts God has given us. Thank you for stopping by!
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  25. Cyndi, I love your style and you have inspired me so much! Thank you for all you do to enrich our lives in countless ways. I love the idea of a get together! I look forward to your posts each day. Thanks, Cathy

  26. I don’t leave a lot of comments but visit your blog daily. A gathering would be great for me bc I live here in the bluegrass. My fashion obsession lately are wardrobe capsules on Pinterest. Maybe something like that would be fun in person or on your blog.

    1. Hi Debbie!!
We live close don’t we?? I love those capsules too, I’ve got to figure out how to do them.
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  27. Hi Cyndi.

I love your outfit. You look amazing. Those shoes are pretty cute. 🙂 I’ll bet Courtney loves living with you and maybe being able to borrow some of your cute clothes. Thanks for inspiring and helping all of us. I love your blog and look forward to the email each day.

Hope to meet you some day. 🙂

    1. Yes Courtney does love wearing my clothes and jewelry. We don’t wear the same size shoe though, her foots a little smaller.
I hope we get to meet someday too!!
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  28. Love this casual outfit! Perfect for Spring!! I love this “gathering” daily! It is my go-to as I drink my coffee in the mornings! So looking forward to your summer wardrobe! I’m needing new things for summer so I’m anxious to see what you have to share with us 40-somethings!!

    1. I love what you said Gina. We have a daily “gathering” or meeting place here. Love it!!
      Thanks for stopping by!
      Cyndi

  29. Love the sandals!! The elephant shirt looks really comfortable, and the fact that it does not wrinkle is enough to sell me on it, too. I love your blog- you share great clothing ideas and you allow all of us a peak at your life and family. Keep up the great work; if you figure out how to do the group thing ( don’t even know if Skype could handle that one) let me know; I would definitely be interested.

  30. Hi Cyndi,
I love following your blog all the way over here in the UK. The fashion over here is pretty much
The same with tasells being very on trend for Spring/Summer, there are a lot of boho design tops and flared jeans which I’m still getting my head around having worn them as a teenager. You are lucky your weather is playing ball as over here it is still very cold with frost and SNOW high on the mountains brrrr. It’s a bit far for me to join in your gathering, but will be with you in my own little way. Have a great day.
    Nicky ?

    1. Nicky thank you following all the way from the UK!! It’s amazing how small the world is with the internet.
I hope your weather warms up soon!
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  31. I’m with the other ladies and would love to see some cute summer outfits with sleeves. Not long sleeves of course but maybe sheer or lightweight elbow length or even short sleeves. I love maxi dresses I just don’t know how to style them since they’re all the sleeveless type.

On another note thank you for everything you do with your blog Cyndi. I believe this is your ministry and I not only appreciate your wonderful fashion sense but you sharing the Lord with all of us.

    1. Rebecca I do think this blog is my ministry. I would have never imagined this being a ministry but God can use anything and anyone.
I will not do all sleeveless with my summer fashion, I promise. I like sleeveless but I freeze in the air condition. 🙂
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  32. I love opening my email and seeing the link to your blog. Love your clothes and thanks for the daily blessing.

  33. You look fantastic! I’m gravitating more & more to clothes that don’t wrinkle 🙂 Can’t wait for your summer style! I would love a get together…I live NE of Knoxville so I’m not to far from you! My husband & I are actually planning a trip sometime this summer to Shaker Villiage, which I learned about thru your blog 🙂
    Have a blessed day

      1. I will for sure! It would be great to meet & visit with you! You are a true blessing to all of us that “gather” on your blog 🙂

  34. So looking forward to your June summer fashions! I have been following you for several months and feel like you are my personal stylist. Thanks for what you do! Cannot wait to hear about the “gathering”.

    Joni

  35. Love the top Cyndi. My daughter loves elephants. I might request that top for her in my next stitch fix box. I too love a wedge. We started state testing today and I wore my wedge sandals because I knew I would be on my feet all morning. Mine are Franco Sarto from DSW and I just love them. No fringe on mine though. Have a blessed day. Thanks for sharing with us everyday.

    1. I love Franco Sarto shoes!! They are a great shoe and usually comfortable. Perfect for a day of testing. 🙂
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  36. A “gathering” sounds interesting! My neighbor had me over to show me her Stitch Fix box purchased by her daughters for her. They didn’t know she had heard of it through your blog. I may have to sign up

    1. How sweet that here daughters did that for her!! It is pretty fun even to just treat yourself every once in a while!
I keep thinking i might do a video of me opening it up and showing how they package it with the note etc.
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  37. I Love the idea of a Gathering !!!!!!
You may be surprised…. (Sometimes I will go out and buy the exact same outfit you are wearing)…Half of us might show up at the gathering looking like your “Fashion Twins”
    🙂
You have taught me so much! And taught me that getting ready for work can be FUN instead of a chore ! Your blog has definitely been a game changer in my world.
I Loved the pink and white yesterday – You look Great in everything you wear !! Thanks for showing the different options and “looks” that are achieved with small changes like shoes, scarves or jewelery.

    1. Thank you Kate!! I’m so glad my blog has helped, it’s fun to add accessories and try different options. It does make getting dressed more fun.
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  38. Thank you for sharing outfits and ideas on your blog. I am over 40 and was recently looking at my wardrobe thinking that I am still dressing like a 20 year year old – t-shirts and jeans. I said to my husband that I needed an updated wardrobe and went to look for ideas. Your blog was the one that keep coming up for fashion for women over 40. It really has help me in knowing what to look for and also some ideas on making some of my clothes work that I have. I also love that you look at things from a Christian perspective.

    1. Thank you Shannon, I’m so glad it has helped. It’s fun to update a wardrobe! 🙂
      Thanks for stopping by!
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  39. Hi Cyndi- I always wondered how much time it must take you to respond to all the comments? I can imagine you just can’t! It would take you all day at times! HA! Anyway, I live elephants. They are actually my favorite of all of Gods creatures.. So beautiful! I love the style of the top too. I never saw/ thought about tassels on wedges..so cute! Looking forward to your June series. Thanks for all you do!

    1. Lisa it sometimes takes a while for me to answer some comments. I did get your email about think dirty app. Thank you!! I’m glad to know it’s a good one. I have been using it, but some of my products aren’t on there. I’m going to keep looking for good “clean” products. If I find them I’ll definitely share them.
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

    1. Roxanne I wear a 7 1/2 which is what I usually wear but I think I could have wore a 7. I would probably go down 1/2 size if I ordered again.
      Hope that helps!
      Cyndi

  40. Hi — I’ve been following you for about a year I guess. I really enjoy and use your fashion tips! You are tasteful, with age appropriate modesty and show us some great trends without being too young-trendy. I have definitely benefited and appreciate your heart as you share. You have a great ministry AND You are a blessing to many!I feel like we are friends, and I guess we are 🙂 THANKS SO MUCH. Layne

  41. Cuttteeeee wedges! I also have a lil thing for elephants (they remind me of the old saying “how do you eat an elephant? -one bite at a time). That saying gets me through times when I am feeling very overwhelmed and God reminds me to slow down and take things “one minute, hour, day, ect. at a time. I had an elephant key chain on my backpack the entire time I was in college to keep me breathing when the anxiety would try to set in (I am a visual person so seeing the funny lil “ele” helped a lot- I am fifty-five years old and just graduated last December “Cum Laude” with my Bachelors degree in “Family Studies”. That was a prayer coming to fruition after 27 years-GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME (: Would love to take part in a group experience Cyndi, I feel like God has brought you in to my life “for such a time as this” and thank him daily for your ministry. Blessings my friend,

    1. Candy, I really liked your comment. I’m one year younger than you – 54. I’m not that crazy over elephants, but I do suffer from anxiety, and I thought your visual exercise was very interesting. Congratulations on your college degree – a wonderful accomplishment and proof that God really does give us the desires of our heart when we trust in Him.

CINDY – THOSE SANDLES LOOK TOTALLY FAB ON YOU!!! I could never wear them, with my swollen ankles and arthritis issues, but I had to tell you how pretty you look 🙂 Thank you for the daily dose of fashion, faith, and friendship – things we all need! You are a jewel.

      1. Thank you for the sweet comments Cindy (: I will be praying for your challenges with anxiety, I know what a battle that can be as God has really done a work in me regarding that, and I believe as God’s grace is bestowed on us it is our responsibility and privilege to share it with others. You are walking the walk with a new friend now, blessings to you my friend,

    2. Candy that was a great visualization about the elephant! I will use that at some point. I’m going to be on the look out for elephant keychains etc.
Congratulations on graduating, what an accomplishment!!!
      Thanks for stopping by!!
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  42. As a blogger, I appreciate comments so much – that is what keeps me blogging! I try to comment when I can because I appreciate the work the blogger has put into it.

I’m excited for your upcoming series, too, and I’m like Amy Robertson-Smith in that I don’t do sleeveless. I hope you have some options for us girls who do not like bare arms.

    1. I promise I’m not going to do all sleeveless. I don’t wear sleeveless all the time. I get cold in the air condition. 🙂
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  43. Wow Cyndi, it never occurred to me that you would have time to read comments. I love everything about your blog, but it was the fashions that got me started. I am at an age where it is too easy to put on clothes and have my mother looking back at me from the mirror (I love my mother to peices but don’t want to look 30 years older) or have it look like I am trying to be my daughter, which I am not. Your look is perfect for me, even though I am more than a few years over 40. It’s easier for me to shop in stores now also, I try and picture you in what I am considering and have a good idea if it’s right for me or not. Thanks for your help with fashions, and the uplifting things you post as well.

    1. Hi Martha!! Of course I read all the comments! I can’t always respond to all of them, which kills me. I want to have conversation with everyone.
I’m so glad my blog has helped and thank you for stopping by.
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

    1. Hi Cyndi! I have to say you are the most gorgeous woman & I love the way you dress, but more importantly, all of your Godly, cheerful, uplifting help! And your hair is “to die for”! Yes, it’s a fine line between being too old to dress like a teenager & not wanting to look 20 yrs. older than we are!

  44. I have been searching for a pair of cognac colored wedges and I love these! I have never heard of Yellow Box but will be checking them out today! Great top and yippee for no ironing(: Susan

  45. Good Morning Cyndi,
Interesting comment about blogs and comments. I comment sometimes, but it seems like really a black hole often that even the blogger doesn’t read or have time to respond to. Maybe that’s the issue? I also think on some blogs it’s impossible to get through all of their “junk” to get to comments, ads, connections, etc, etc. If i have to work too hard it’s just not worth it.

Anyway, I like the top a lot. I’ve been reading so much about women and sleeve lengths for summer. Kind of confusing. Frankly, sleeveless isn’t appropriate for much of my life (work/church), and then i struggle with what looks cute then for summer wear? I’m so anxious for your summer series to start so I can get some ideas.

Regarding a face to face join up, i would just love that. I’m in Cincinnati, not too terribly far, and to meet with other women that love fashion and the Lord sounds like a lot of fun.

Tassels and sandals, probably not for me, I just find myself wanting to pare down a lot of my “stuff”, even shoes and clothing, and I think tassel styles are cute but not mixable enough. Have a great day!

    1. I’m in NKY (a few miles from Cincinnati) and would love a meet up as well! I feel like I have no clue how to put an outfit together so you’re blog helps a lot (I actually rely on the blog more now than Pinterest!). I’ve also been wanting to try Stitchfix so am interested when you post what you have received.

      1. Thank you Robin!! We live pretty close and I do get up that way some because my son lives in Covington.
        Thanks for stopping by!
        Cyndi

    2. Amy I hope it doesn’t feel like a black hole here!! I do read every comment and I try my best to answer questions. I’m with you if I have to jump hoops to write a comment, forget it!!
      Blessings,
      Cyndi
