26 Days of Summer Fashion (Day 3)

Welcome to Day 3 of my 26 Days of Summer Fashion! Today I’m styling a t-shirt dress from Gap with a summer scarf.

This past spring when I did my spring fashion series I started it with a foot of snow and I froze to death. On Monday, when I started my summer fashion, the high was in the 50s. What??

So far, everything I’ve styled for summer I can’t wear because it has been too cold. This is some crazy summer weather! I need warm hot weather.

This t-shirt dress is perfect for hot weather and of course you can ditch the scarf and add a cute necklace for those of you who can’t do a scarf. Once it gets really hot, I can’t do the scarf either. But so far, I need a scarf!

26 Days of Summer Fashion (Day 3)
Let’s talk about my Old Navy sandals. I purchased them in early spring and I know I say I love all my sandals, but these really are in my top 3 favorite sandals.

I love that they have a slight heel, they are comfortable, and they have great reviews. They come in whole sizes and I’m wearing the 7 ( I usually wear a 7 1/2).

26 Days of Summer Fashion (Day 3)
I wore my Stella & Dot cleopatra stud earrings because when I’m wearing a scarf, I don’t like my earrings to get caught in my scarf.

26 Days of Summer Fashion (Day 3)
I couldn’t find this exact dress online at Gap to link to but I did find a similar one and it was cheaper.

Beauty for the Heart~~When I started sharing about fashion & beauty on my blog, I wanted to make sure that women knew that inner beauty was the most important part. Specifically because I’m a believer, I wanted to share about my relationship with Christ.

I wanted women to know there is more to life than fashion, and makeup, and money, and jobs etc. That’s why I decided to include the Beauty For the Heart everyday.

I had no idea that God would use these words that I share here and minister to so many women. Truthfully, I sometimes feel pressure. I want these words to speak truth and bring light to a sometimes dark world.

When I feel that way, I always go to scripture because His words are full of hope and encouragement. Today I want you to know how much you are loved by God. Some of you may go through days or even weeks and not be reminded that you are loved!

“When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.” Ephesians 3:14-21 (NLT)

Have a blessed day!

  1. I love these shoes!! They are my new summer go to sandal!! I so wished old navy would have also made them in black too.

  2. Thank you for demonstrating how great a dress is for summer wear . Particularly with a scarf in this crazy weather! And I love scarves. Here in Missouri (close to Kansas City) we have had rain for what seems like an eternity. We only had four days in May that it didn’t rain! And temps lower than usual. Needless to say deciding what to wear each day has been a challenge. Your blog is always helpful!

  3. Hi Cyndi,
Just wanted to say that I love the Beauty For The Heart! Eph. was a book that we memorized a lot of during high school. I attended a Christian private school and that was one of the highlights of each month was memorization of the Holy Bible (KJV) This scripture is very dear to me. Thank you! The first verse starting at vrs 13 is sooo important but sadly not seen in America as much any more…. vrs13 “Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:” The unity of our faith is fading in the younger generations. Beautiful scripture! Love the Lord with all my heart! <3

  4. Hi Cyndi,
I love the T-shirt dress. You are cute in this outfit, love the color of the dress and also agree with the stud earrings when wearing a scarf. However, you know from my previous posts, I’ve never been a fan of anything poofy around my neck, LOL I would prefer a colored jeweled necklace instead, to give the dress that “pop-of-color”. Yep, this weather is wild ! Love the cute sandals~don’t freeze your little piggies! 🙂

  5. I am really enjoying and appreciating your blog. I was invited to be on the worship team for our recent church sisterhood retreat and I planned my wardrobe using some of the outfits you have showcased here. I got lots of compliments and felt stylish and confident while spending the weekend in front of so many sisters. I even got some compliments from my teen daughters! Thank you!

  6. The Word of God is living and active and will not return void… always a good choice. I also enjoy the NLT version for plain talk :-).

We are already in full summer here in central FL. Sunset is gorgeous as I type this at 8:30 pm, but it is still in the mid 80’s, so we are scarfless here, but loving your outfit and completely agree on those sandals. Perf!

  7. I love the dress Cyndi! I love the scripture you shared even more. Finding your blog has already been a true blessing. I look forward to what God has in store for us.

    God Bless!

  8. I like the simplicity of the dress but would rather see it with a necklace. I don’t like scarfs in warm weather. It’s too big and bulky around your neck. A scarf screams cold weather to me.

  9. I want to thank you for that very uplifting, timely blog & scripture! I am single & some days I just wonder if anyone would even notice if I were gone. Other days God’s love is so bright in my life that I feel so special, so prized & so redeemed! So thank you for cheering up my day! And I love your style & especially your hair! In fact, I’ve decided to get mine cut like yours! I only hope mine looks half as good! Do you blow dry yours upside down? Or use a curling iron?

  10. I do pray that He will help me to be secure in His love for me. My trials and life challenges cause me to doubt His love sometimes. I struggle with guilt and fear of punishment. I have to remind myself of His grace. Thank you for sharing these verses and especially about His love which I desperately needed to hear this week.

        1. Keep looking UP and bask in His unfailing, eternal love for you Beth! Cyber hugs from a fellow Sister-in-Christ!

    1. Hey Beth! I will be praying for you too. We all struggle with guilt. I know I do! Keep trusting His promise of true love no matter what! He’s our Father!

      1. Thank you so much Terri for your prayers. I am grateful for you and the others who have been so kind to take time to read my comment and show such kindness. I am so thankful for this blog. I never thought I would find such love and support on a fashion blog. Thanks to Cyndi and praise the Lord!

  11. Love the beauty for the heart today – just keep doing what you do Cyndi, God uses us all to accomplish his work.
I like the dress – on you. Whenever I try one, because I really want one, I feel “dumpy” and it doesn’t feel flattering. I have one in black that I wear spring, summer and fall and I love it.

  12. Thank you dear Cyndi for your ministry through your Blog! You are reaching women all across this country! I have been encouraged and/or blessed by your Beauty for the Heart every day! I pray you don’t feel pressure because God will use His truths to touch hearts individually. Isaiah 55:11 says, “God’s Word will not return void but will accomplish what He desires and will achieve the purpose for which He sends it.” Have a blessed day sweet Sister-in-Christ, you radiate with Christ’s love inside and out! 🙂

  13. Cyndi you look just adorable ( and comfy ) ! That light teal is just beautiful . I wear scarfs in the summer too .
I would LOVE to have you share this post on Wearing with Wisdom at kingmakerblog.com .
The link-up party is available now and every Wednesday .
    Blessings , Leticia

  14. It is 86 degrees in south Louisiana today and will be in the 90s this week-end! No scarves for us, but the dress is so cute.Good advice to just wear a necklace.

  15. You look great as always friend! We went from 21 days of rain last month to hot and dry and mosquitos galore!
We always have crazy weather in Oklahoma but I love it here.

  16. Tee shirt dresses are so comfortable in the summer! You can dress them up or down. I really like this one from Gap. The shoes from Old Navy do look comfy! I hope you get your hot weather soon!!

  17. Thank you for quoting the scripture passage in Ephesians. We cannot fathom the depth of God’s love for us. It felt like a blanket of comfort was wrapped around me, just reading those verses. Cyndi, thank you for bringing God’s love, peace & joy to your readers. We are blessed.

  18. Cyndi~ Your Beauty for the Heart is always awesome! I’m so glad that you use this blog as a platform to share your faith!! You go girl!! 😉 Your dress color is coming across my screen as an aqua blue…i love that color!! The length is perfect as well. Thx for always keeping Christ at the center of your blog 🙂 God bless and have a great day!!

  19. Confession – sometimes I skip the fashion post and just read Beauty for the Heart. 🙂

I am tired of blogs that say “Christian” in the “About Me” section, but they only talk about their $1,000 new shoes or handbags, and post photos of immodest clothing……hmmm…..

I don’t say that to be mean – Just that I appreciate the fact that you are open about your Christianity and it is evident you put that first. I appreciate your encouraging words; some days it’s like they were written just for me.

  20. I really needed to hear “Beauty for the Heart” today! I really like the t-shirt dress, wish I could find a mint green dress and wear the scarf from Target you styled earlier in the spring, thank you for your hard work, you are a true blessing! Have a great afternoon! 🙂

    1. Love the dress too. But it is also too short for my ugly legs. Would love if you could find a dress a little below the knee for those of us who do not have beautiful legs which you do! Also, your skin tans lovely as well! I have been looking a long time for longer lengths. Then when I find one it is way too long for my 5′ 2″ height! I just keep looking!

      1. Pam, Maybe the one at Talbots would work for you? In my comment, I meant that the dress in Cyndi’s link looked too short for me. (She said that the one she is wearing from Gap is no longer available but provided a link to a similar dress, but the one from her link looks really short for me.) The Talbots t-shirt dress is a great length, but just a little pricier than I like to pay for a t-shirt dress. Best of luck! If you find another option…please share! 🙂

  21. Cindi, your words from the heart and the quote from Scripture today were the BEST part of the blog! Thank you for being such a faith-filled woman who is eager to share Christ with others.

  22. We are freezing in WV this week. Monday, I wore a summer dress with a light sweater and had the heat on in my office. Yesterday, I wore a skirt and blazer and still had the heat on, Today I am in tan slacks and a black sweater from my winter closet? Where oh where is Mr. Sunshine and Mrs. Summer?

You look stunning in this aqua dress! I have a silk shirt and lots of jewelry in this color! Very cool and beachy looking.
