26 Days of Summer Fashion (Day 5)

Happy Friday! It’s Day 5 of my 26 Days of Summer Fashion and I feel like this month is going to go by fast. I want it to slow down!

Last night Wayne and I went to dinner in Lexington. We ate a “new to us” place called Josies. Wow, did we love it! It might be our new favorite spot. The food is delicious and it has great atmosphere. That’s a win win for me!

I posted a picture of my salad on Instagram, yum!

Speaking of Instagram, some of my blogger friends and I are giving a $250 Nordstrom gift card away on Instagram. The giveaway starts on Monday night, so if you’re not on Instagram this might be the time to jump in.

I grabbed my camera on the way out the door last night so we stopped at Shaker Village on the way home and snapped these pictures.

26 Days of Summer Fashion (Day 5)
This dress from Target is comfortable and it doesn’t wrinkle which means no ironing. I think it would have been cute if I had added a belt but I got ready in a hurry.

I didn’t add a lot of jewelry, just some silver hoop earrings and some bracelets. FYI, 2 days ago I accidentally got my eye cream in my left eye. I woke up the next morning with a very infected eye. So I haven’t been able to wear my contacts. It is getting better but I have to wear sunglasses to take my pictures.

I asked Wayne if I could take my sunglasses off for my pictures but he said my eye still looked a little funny, leave the glasses on. Only me! 🙂

Beauty for the Heart~~Don’t worry about the wicked or envy those who do wrong. For like grass, they soon fade away. Like spring flowers, they soon wither. Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires. Psalm 37:1-4

Have a blessed day!

  1. I bought this dress today- thank you! Just hope it looks as good on me as it does on you.
Had to go to 3 targets but it was worth it, as I can wear it to work with wedges and a colorful sweater over it or wear more casual with flats. Love it!

  2. I love the background in your pictures today. Last week when you modeled the gold Malu sandals from Marshalls, I went right over to Marshalls and was so happy to find them!

  3. Hi,
This dress looks so comfortable and pretty. Did they have other colors? I so look forward to ready your blog. It always brightens my day.

  4. Another great Beauty for the Heart, need alot of inspiration from The Lord these days! Your dress is so cute, Shaker Village looks so nice! I did want to mention Gretchen Scott dresses to you, I have 1, love it! I think they would look really cute on you, several styles with collars which I thought you mentioned you prefer! Have a great night 🙂

  5. Cyndi, I am following your blog from my vacation in Paris and Normandy France. I would like to tell you , I have been eyeing the french women to size up their fashion sense. I thought I would share this with you! First, trench coats. Everywhere, on every one. Khaki colored or black. (I took a navy one but was sure glad it was a trench). In Paris I saw so many pixie hair cuts and they looked so good. Red lipstick, especially if they have black hair. Scarves around the neck. Basic black. And you can always tell we tourists by our comfy shoes — the French women wet pretty ones!

  6. I loved this dress and also purchased it at my local target!! I plan to wear it to work this summer with a short sleeved cardi. I seem to be drawn to a lot of black and white for my career clothes.

I have purchased several cute summer dresses at Maurice’s and Cato that are very affordable.

    So enjoy reading your blogs.

  7. I love this dress and just ordered it. Hope it looks as good on me as it looks as cute on you.

  8. Hi Cyndi
I love your blog and your outfits are spot on to my style. I eyed this dress yesterday at Target but I tried on the red print version and was too tight in the bust. The next size would be too large everywhere else. This is the problem I have finding summer dresses in addition to it needing to be bra friendly and not spaghetti straps. I usually opt for skirts for that reason. I am soon-to-be 50 and petite and trying to find something to fit my body as well as age appropriate is challenging. I did go home with a couple of the swingy jersey knit skirts from Target 🙂

  9. What a cute dress! I found a navy and white dress at Old Navy. Unfortunately it wrinkles…a lot.
Hope your eye is all better soon. Have a great weekend Cyndi!

  10. I will be going to Target today, looking for that dress. I have a short black sweater with 3/4 sleeves to wear with it to church since they keep the building sort of chilly. I have a colorful cute summer dress I ordered from Zulily. There’s lots of colors in it, but the tent is on the softer side. I am really enjoying your blog, Cyndi. I hope your eye feels better real soon! Have a blessed weekend.

  11. Cyndi, I get too hung up on not wearing sleeveless but you are giving me confidence. I just bought a sleeveless navy linen dress at TJ Maxx but for this way over 40 lady it is longer than yours. 🙂

  12. I went to Loft yesterday to get a pair of the Riviera shorts and the blouse Cyndi had on yesterday. They had a dress almost exactly like this one. They also had several other dresses and the sales lady indicated they might be going on sale if anyone is interested ????. It seems like their sizes definitely run big. I bought the blouse in a small and I usually take a medium. Love the shorts too. At 5’8″ with longer legs, I need the 6 inch inseam. The size 4’s are more like size 6’s. I love all the flat sandals I’m seeing but just can’t get used to wearing anything without a bit of a heel. Would love something like this with a slight heel if anyone know of any. Also I wear a pair of silver hoops like this all the time and one a size smaller too. I have a lot of hair and wear it up all the time and they actually show. I think having hoops in several sizes is sooo versatile. Loving this blog Cyndi and all the ladies’ input.

  13. Off the wall question. What brand/color is your nail color? I’m not sure if it’s the picture or what, but it looks like a light purple and I love it! I know you say fashion for women over 40, but I’m 27 and always try to mimic your outfits. Classy, sassy, and cute! Love your blog!

    1. My daughter-in-law gave me some CND polish that is about the color Cyndi is wearing. We love CND polish as it stays on regular nails for a week plus with no touchups. My daughter-in-law is an avid tennis player and won’t use any other polish. You have to put a special top coat on after the polish. Use regular nail remover. You can get on amazon too. The color is Beckoning Begonia #189 and the top coat is CND Vinylux. Beckoning Begonia even has a little sparkle and I love it. Used on my toes too for a light summer look. Have received compliments.

      1. Thank you Teresa! I actually just looked it up and love that color as well. I get shellac manicures, but I’m going to purchase this one and take with me!! 🙂

    2. Callie I need to do a whole blog post on my nails! Ha! I’ve done so many different things, I could write a book.
Right now a sweet lady does my nails. She has a small salon in her home. She talked me into doing acrylic. I don’t do tips, just an acrylic overlay. She does very little damage if any to my natural nail.
She does a custom color for me. It’s a soft white/pink color.
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  14. Good morning Cyndi, I follow your blog daily but, I never take the time to stop and write a comment. I appreciate your blog and your bible verses each day. I look forward to see what is in your heart and how you are sharing it. I love your outfits. I do not live to far away from Glamor Farms. I hope to visit there soon. God Bless you and your ministry.

    1. Aww thanks for introducing yourself. I wish I lived close to Glamour Farms!! I want to take a road trip there soon. 🙂
      Thanks for stopping by!

  15. Hi Cyndi. I saw the sandals at Target the other day in lots of colors. Are they comfortable, or do they hurt your little toe? Wondering? Hope your eye is well soon. Have a blessed weekend.

  16. I saw that dress the other day at Target and they didn’t have my size! I’ll have to check another Target after seeing how cute it is on you. Have a great weekend girl!

  17. Good morning, Cyndi! I love it – I think I may try wearing a cute dress for date night too! I don’t get to dress up at work, so all the more reason I think this is a great idea! Love your scripture this morning too! Have a great weekend!

  18. I’ve seen lots of cute summer dresses at TJ Maxx and Steinmart in Nashville. As always, you look great in what you’re wearing today, Cyndi! Have a good weekend.

  19. Good morning Cyndi! I love your dress! so cute and looks very comfortable ! I like your early morning emails! Have a blessed day 😉
