Fashion Over 40-Winter Fashion

Happy New Year!!! I love the start of a new year, don’t you? Wayne and I rang in the new year with a quiet evening at home. It was perfect!

We did go out to dinner to my favorite Mexican restaurant and then we came home and watched one of my favorite movies, The Notebook. Of course we stayed awake to watch the ball drop!

Well, here’s some of my Fashion over 40-Winter Fashion from this week. I had a lot of last minute shopping to do this past week so this first outfit is a comfy outfit.

I wore this to a funeral. We lost a godly older women (she was 90) in our church right after Christmas. I snapped this picture and didn’t like the boots I had on so I actually wore my high heel black boots but I forget to get another picture.

Fashion Over 40-What I Wore

This is how I wore it to church. It was really cold so the scarf was needed! I also wore boots and a thinner tight with polka dots.

This last picture I’m throwing in, because I didn’t get a picture of my whole outfit. Courtney talked me into wearing a hat and so we snapped a mother/daughter picture for instagram. That’s Colt’s head below us, we couldn’t get him out of the picture. 🙂

I’m so excited about this blog for 2014! I’m doing a lot of organizing and brainstorming for the coming year! Woo hoo!

How did you spend New Year’s Eve? We talked about it on my facebook page and everyone seemed to be staying home.

Beauty For the Heart~~ A great verse to begin the New Year, Romans 12:1-2 from The Message….

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

Have a blessed day!

  1. So excited to find your blog !! I’m 40 something too- my style is very important to me but trying to navigate looking great & appropriate has been a difficult road your inspiration makes me want to get up & get dressed again!

  2. Hi Cyndi and Happy New Year! First of all let me say that I have enjoyed reading your blog in 2013. I discovered your blog in late January 2013. I highly recommend it for other Christian women to read. You look really great in your little black hat. I have one similar to that one. I have thick hair so it is kind of hard to stay on my head.

  3. Happy NewYear! Spent the day talking with my husband on some changes we would like to put into our marriage, and did some organizing ! Cleaned a cabinet and the final result was it was empty ! Yeah! Looking forward to your blog in 2015! Woot woot! God bless!

  4. Thank you Laura for the encouragement!! I know when I see Cyndi’s outfits I think they look so cute but I always worry if I’m dressing age appropriate if I try and copy her outfits. I do know it’s always fun to wear something new and fashionable so I really want to work on this hang up I have of trying new things.

  5. Sandy, I’d like to encourage you to go ahead and try new styles. I turn 57 in two weeks and this past year has been fun. I’ve tried new styles based on ideas from Cyndi’s blog. Also tried new colors (now that I have so much gray hair) and have had fun! And felt more confident than I have in a while. Happy New Year!

  6. Happy New Year! Love the black and white dress! I need to go to Macy’s and shop. Looking forward to what you have to share this year.

  7. Cyndi,
I am loving your blog! I stumbled upon it. My girls say I need more “style” so I’m planning on taking tips from you since I’m “forty-something”:)
    Blessings!

  8. Happy new year Cyndi…love the first outfit! The black and white dress looks nice on you but I know if “I” would try to wear something like that, I would feel it didn’t look right for a 55 year old. This has been my problem…not feeling comfortable in new looks. My hope for 2014 is to step out of my comfort zone and not worry so much about everything fitting just right and trying some “new” styles. I am looking forward to your blog in 2014 for daily inspiration!

  9. Happy New Year Cyndi.

You don’t look a day over 25 in the pic with your daughter! Both of you are beautiful. 🙂

I love the red dress on you, and the black and white dress looks great too.

Looking forward to your blog this year.

    Gina

  10. If you wear boots with the red dress, I think you can wear the thicker tights with no problem (which will be nice if it’s really cold). I think the comments you got about the tights were mostly because of the pairing with the dressy pumps. It looks great with the scarf, too.

I think my fave may be the black patterned dress with the turtleneck and boots. Great look.

Blessings on you and yours in 2014!

  11. Hi Cyndi,
You look so cute in the hat 🙂 The Notebook, what a great movie!
This is amazingly GOD….I read a devotional blog this morning, my own Jesus calling devo and your Beauty for the heart, all three had Rom 12 as the scripture. 🙂 Love it

  12. You two look so good in hats! Not everyone can wear them well. I love the way you styled your red dress too! Yes, I pray that I too can be a living sacrifice for the Lord this year. Love a blog where I feel comfortable talking about Jesus! Happy new year to you Cyndi and your beautiful family!
