Two O’Clock in the Afternoon

Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
“Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
Give her the reward she has earned,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
Proverbs 31:28-31

  1. “Her children will arise and call her blessed.” Can any mother ask for more? You and Traci and Blake have certainly done that.

    My heart aches for you. I am glad that your mom did not suffer long–my own mother spent about 18 months dying, and it was agonizing. But it did give us time to get used to the idea of her being away from us. This all happened so fast for y’all, and I know that your head must still be spinning.

    There really is comfort in knowing that your separation is not forever, isn’t there? How else could we make it? As a dear friend of mine used to say, “Thank God for Jesus.”

    Bless you.

  2. I want you to know that your family is in my prayers. Your mom has really touched my life as I have read about her on your blog and your sisters blog. I can’t wait to meet her one day in heaven. She really seems like such a phenominal woman. Thank you for sharing her with us. You all are in my prayers.

  3. Hi Cyndi,
    I’ve just read back through your last several posts. I just recently found your sister’s blog, as well. What a precious tribute to your Mom. The love you and your family have for her is so incredibly evident in everything you’ve spoken. What a gift God gave to you in that treasured woman. No doubt all of you carry much of her in who you are. Know that I am lifting all of you in prayer. I rejoice with you that she is now healed and whole, but for those left behind, that Good-bye is so hard. You will no doubt miss her greatly.

    Love & prayers to you,
    Tracy

  4. I am praying for you too. May the God of all peace and comfort continue to surround you with His great love and comfort.

  5. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family today. What a beautiful mother you are blessed with. She will never be far from you as your memories will comfort you.

    One of my most precious memories from my dad’s service (besides listening to the stories people shared during the service) was after everybody left and it was just family.

    We all sat around and talked and laughed and shared some of our childhood memories. One memory led to another and to another.

    It was very comforting and loving just to talk about dad together.

    Just rest today in the love of our Lord and the comfort of your family.

  6. Cyndi,

    I have a feeling that your mom’s celebration of life service will be amazing. It has to be — she sounds like she was amazing.

    I hope one day our paths cross in heaven — no doubt, as her Celebration of Life commences, she will already be having the time of her life — for eternity.

    So thinking of you all today…

    Ruth

  7. Cyndi~
    What a HEARTFELT tribute to your Mom, an amazing woman who’s life, talk, actions, word and deeds model an amazing example of Christ.

    Please know that I’m continuing to pray, and I’ll be praying specifically at 2pm your time today. Praying for God’s strength, and peace, during your time of lose.

    Sending heartfelt HUGS…from Minnesota…to you!!!

    Kim~

  8. My prayers are with you and your family this day. From what I know of your mom through blogging the above verse suits her perfectly!!

  9. She is in Heaven – no more aches, pains or Cancer. Let this truly be a celebration of life and how she touched the lives of others.
