Key Pieces To Transition Your Wardrobe From Summer To Fall

The dog days of summer are winding down. Believe it or not, we’ve had several days of 70 degree weather here in Kentucky, and more are expected this weekend.

With cooler weather coming that means we need to add transitional pieces so that we can keep wearing our warm weather wardrobe. I love to use layers to transition my summer wardrobe to a fall wardrobe.

Earlier in the summer I purchased a pair of cobalt pants. I have loved wearing them this summer but now that cobalt is going to be a fashion trend for fall, I want to continue to wear them.

So, to transition my cobalt pants to fall I wore an animal print tank and added a black cardigan. It’s a simple way to transition your wardrobe from summer to fall.

The best way to transition your wardrobe is add some key pieces. Start looking for pieces that you can add to your wardrobe that you can layer with tops you already have. Layering it the easiest way to transition your wardrobe.

Here are several cardigans and blazers from Target that will look great for the upcoming fall season.

Christmas 2011 and Some Fashion

Hey Friends!

Well, Christmas 2011 is now over and I’m not going to lie, I’m kind of glad. Don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas but I’m exhausted!

Christmas morning was super special because of this little guy. He smiles all the time except when we start taking pictures. He seems scared of the camera~he better get over that!

I had Christmas dinner at my house, the day after Christmas. This is my sweet brother and his family.

This is my sister, Traci and her family. They had just locked their keys in their car so they were a little frustrated. They did get it unlocked and thank goodness because I already have a house full!!

A quick picture of my family. Again Colt Allen will not smile. :-)

A picture of our precious Dad with his three amazing children (hehehe).

I am blessed with a wonderful sister and brother that I adore!

We paused to thank Jesus for all the blessings he has given our family. We are especially thankful for His love and His grace!

There’s a lot of eating, talking, and then some rest from eating too much!

Lastly, a little fashion. I’ve told you how much I love leopard print and this leopard print shrug from Banana Republic was perfect for my Christmas dinner. It was on sale, of course!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas too!

Are you glad its over or are you sad to see Christmas 2011 end?

Beauty For the Heart~~And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.  You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.  You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. Deuteronomy 6:6-9

Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!

Can You Mix Fashion and Jesus?

Well, The Relevant weekend had some of this…………...

snow in October. Uggh! Thankfully we were nice and toasty inside and I don’t think we missed a beat!

In case you don’t know, The Relevant Conference, is a women’s conference for bloggers who have a heart for Jesus. Not all of them blog about Him specifically but we all have Him as our common thread.

We eat lots of chocolate and drink lots of coffee…...heaven! All of the speakers were amazing but Tish from Simple Mom said some things that probably spoke to my heart the most. Tish shared about being in your element - that place where your passions and gifts meet on your blog. It doesn’t always mean that we shout Jesus but as christian bloggers his light will shine.

Most of you know, who read my blog regularly, that I’m a pastor’s wife. I love ministry and I love sharing what God is doing in my life. I will always share about Jesus on my blog and encourage women to grow closer to Him.

But something you may not know is I love talking about make up and fashion, great hair products, moisturizers etc. I shop bargains and of course I shop for things that Moms can wear and use in everyday life.

I have always dreamed of doing make-up on women and then sharing with them the most important beauty is on the inside and it begins with Jesus. How cool would that be??

I can’t tell you how many times my Mom let me do her hair and make-up over the years. While she was sick and dying with cancer I would do her make-up and hair for her on the days she felt like it. Such sweet memories!

Truthfully, I kind of feel like an oxymoron…….Pastor’s wife who loves fashion. But Tish reminded us this weekend that God made us and he love us! We all have different passions and hobbies. My sister, Traci loves DIY and she is in the process of adding on to her house, and she just tore her kitchen cabinets down…..she’s in a mess but she loves it! It’s her passion but so is Jesus.

I definitely want to share about Jesus but some people may not come to my blog if they think I only talk about Jesus. But they might come if I share about my favorite moisturizer and then find Jesus on my blog. Does that make sense to anyone?

I’m still doing some soul searching and praying but you might see some changes in the next few months. We’ll see!

I would love to hear from you! What do you think? (I have to admit, I’m a little scared of this question) :-)

Have a great day!!

How To Tie a Scarf

One of the things I love about this time of the year is wearing scarvesScarves can add a splash of color or a layer of texture to any outfit. They are fun to wear and they also keep you warm as the weather starts to get cold (have I told you how I freeze in cold weather?).

I like to find new ways to wear them so I did a search on my computer and found a great site called 37 ways to tie a scarf. Wow!! I love this site. Not only do they show pictures but they do video tutorials and they also write it out step by step. It’s great for slow learners like me :-)

They categorize them into winter scarves, thin scarves, skinny scarves, circle scarves, etc. If you like wearing scarves you have got to check this site out. My new favorite way to wear my scarf is called the layered knot style.

Here’s a picture of me with this style…………

It’s super easy but it’s a great accessory to an otherwise plain gray shirt.

So, what do you think? Do you like to wear scarves?

If you do make sure you go here and find some great ways to wear them!

Beauty For the Heart~~Here’s what you need to keep in mind. You no longer have yesterday. You do not yet have tomorrow. You have only today. This is the day the Lord has made. Live in it. ~Max Lucado
