Maxi Skirt Fashion For Women Over 40

You’ve probably noticed all the maxi skirt fashion for spring and summer. Some of you have emailed me and asked if women over 40 can wear them. Can I just say “Yes!” This is a great trend for women over 40!

The key is knowing how to style them for your body type. If you are thin with slender hips you can wear them with your shirts tucked in or tied at the waist.

But if you’re like me, and you’re curvy in your hip area then it’s better to leave your shirt out (this is my opinion). If I tied a knot at my waist, it would accentuate my hips and they don’t need any accentuating!

You can’t see my shoes but I wore black sandles. I also added my jean jacket because I wore this to church and I felt I needed to cover up a little.

Lastly, if you have some extra weight in your stomach area, you can wear a looser fitting blouse over your maxi skirt.

Have you tried wearing a maxi skirt this spring? How do you wear your skirt?

Mixing Fashion & Faith

Over a year ago I wrote a post titled, Can you Mix Fashion & Jesus? I wasn’t sure how well it would go over but the response was incredibly positive. I decided to start moving my blog in the direction of fashion & faith and it has been quite a journey!

I’ve even gotten a little more specific with sharing tips for women over 40. Blogland is full of young fashion bloggers, but everything they wear and use isn’t always appropriate for my age group.

I love blogging about fashion & faith and this past Friday, I was blessed to get to share with a group of young Moms, called MOPS (mothers of preschoolers) about Fashion & Faith. It was so much fun!

Fashion & Faith

This was the only picture I took and it was of the beginning of my power point presentation. I shared about fashion and makeup tips. We also talked about the spring trends and the spring colors.

These are the colors to wear for Spring/Summer 2013. Emerald green is going to be the most popular color of the season.

Fashion & Faith

After we talked about fashion, I was able to talk about the most important part, and that’s about my faith. I shared that true beauty is found in having a personal relationship with Jesus. I love this quote and shared it too.

Lastly, I wanted to let you know that I’m putting together a Faq page. I get a lot of questions about the products I use in my hair, makeup I use, etc. So I thought I would keep an updated page on my blog with all those questions answered. So look for that coming soon!

If you have a question you would like for me to add, please let me know in the comments or you can email me at cyndispivey(at)gmail(dot)com.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

I’m Ready For Spring Fashion

Happy Monday friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I don’t know about you all, but I can’t help but think of Spring. The weather isn’t showing any signs of it yet but that doesn’t mean I can’t start taking a look at some spring fashion.

Here’s a few of my favorite things:

I'm Thinking Spring

1.1969 always skinny skimmer jeans in mint green from Gap - Oh I love these jeans especially in the mint color. I want to add these to my spring wardrobe.

2. Women’s Prabal Gurung from Target Wedge Sandal with Ankle Strap - Can’t wait to start wearing sandals. I love these in black and white.

3. INC International Concepts Top, Three – Quarter-Sleeve Striped Boat Neck Tunic – Stripes are a spring trend and so is black and white. This top has both!

4. Blazer from Banana Republic - I love a blazer and this yellow one from Banana Republic would be perfect for spring.

5. Beaded Teardrop Necklace from Groopdealz - I snagged this necklace from Groopdealz. It’s only 8.95 (regular price is $34.99) and comes in 6 colors. I ordered the mint green. There’s only 2 days remaining on this daily deal so if you want one grab it quick!

Although I love Spring fashion, I sometimes struggle this time of the year with what to wear. One day it’s freezing cold and the next day it’s warmer. I need more transitional pieces.

Are you ready for Spring? Do you have a hard time dressing in the in-between season?

Beauty For the Heart~~Sometimes life can be difficult but remember that Jesus is our source of strength and power. “You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus.” 2 Timothy 2:1

What I Wore-Mother/Daughter Fashion

Today is a special What I Wore day because I’m sharing some Mother/Daughter fashion.

I’ve wanted to include Courtney in some of my fashion posts. I know there are some younger women who read my blog and some of you have daughters so I thought it would be fun.

Courtney and I love to go shopping together. It’s quality mother/daughter time and we usually plan our shopping around lunch time. One of our favorite places to eat for lunch is Chick-fil-A.

We had a little bit of a hard time getting a picture because Colt Allen seemed to want to be apart of the action. Courtney’s looking at her husband and asking for a little help.

What I Wore

Colt Allen has decided this is where he wants to play!

What I Wore

Okay, finally we got some help and snapped this picture super quick.

We wore these outfits to church on Sunday. They seemed to coordinate although we didn’t plan it. The only new pieces to our outfit are our riding boots.

Courtney has a great eye for style and one thing she wears a lot this time of the year is hats. She looks so cute in them! She snapped this picture with her iphone camera and shared it on Instagram. Oh how I wish I could wear a hat! (Obviously Colt Allen is hungry.)

What I wore

Who do you all going shopping with most of the time? A daughter, friend, mom??

Beauty For the Heart~~My prayer is that above all else I will have taught my children and grandchildren God’s word. Deuteronomy 6:6-9 says,

“Write these commandments that I’ve given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder; inscribe them on the doorposts of your homes and on your city gates.”

Have a blessed day!

Need a Personal Shopper?

Have you ever wished you had a personal shopper? Do you hate the idea of going to store after store trying to find something to wear?

Well, I might have the perfect thing for you! It’s called Stitch Fix.

Stitch Fix

What is Stitch Fix

Stitch Fix is a personal styling service. A group of stylists put together 5 stylish pieces of clothing (sometimes jewelry and/or accessories items are included) and ship them directly to you!  It’s a great way to add to your current wardrobe and get a hold of pieces that you might otherwise not have access to. No two Fixes are alike. Each one is hand–picked just for you.

How does it work?

1. Sign Up (There may be a brief waiting period based how well our current inventory matches you. Don’t worry, wait times are just a few days to a few weeks.)

2. Complete Your Style Profile~~After you get your welcome email,  you can start immediately on your Style Profile. We need to know your size, shape, style, price preferences, and lifestyle to get your Fix right. It’ll take about 10 minutes.

They will ask you questions like, “What do you think of the style below?”

Stitch Fix

2. Schedule a Stitch Fix~~Pick a date, and we’ll send you a box of 5 clothing and accessory items we’ve hand-picked just for you. Schedule monthly, or as often as you like—it’s your call. You pay a $20 styling fee up front, which serves as credit toward anything in your Stitch Fix shipment.

3. Try it all on~Try on everything they send you—you never know what you’ll like until you see it on. Pair it with items already in your closet. Each item includes style cards with ideas and inspiration on how to wear it.

Stitch Fix

4. Decide~Take 3 days to decide what you’ll keep. Pay for just what you want to keep, return the rest in our pre-paid mailing bag at any USPS mailbox. Keep all 5 items and you save 25% off the entire shipment.

You can set up your Stitch Fix monthly or schedule them whenever you need them. You can cancel at anytime!

I’ll be receiving my Stitch Fix in two weeks, and I’ll be sharing it with you!

What do you think? Would you like to have a personal shopper?
