Black Friday Shopping With Stella & Dot

I don’t know about you all, but my Black Friday shopping is going to be done online. Most places already have Black Friday prices, I’m not sure there is such a thing as Black Friday any more.

One of the places I’m going to be shopping this year is Stella & Dot (shhh, don’t tell my daughter).

Black Friday Shopping With Stella & Dot

I decided about a year ago, to start purchasing some jewelry that would last. I’m getting tired of purchasing my jewelry for a cheap price and then a month later it turns green.

Don’t get me wrong, I still purchase some cheaper jewelry. But I’m adding better jewelry to my collection and I absolutely love Stella & Dot jewelry.

The packaging is so cute! Each box opens up to this, hello gorgeous. I’m a sucker for cute packaging. :-)

Stella & Dot has a lot of jewelry and accessories that are under $50 and they already have Black Friday sales going on right now! I think some of these would make great stocking stuffers.

Another thing I love about Stella & Dot is their necklaces are adjustable. They have different places to put the clasp, depending on what length you want. Perfect!

Have you tried Stella & Dot jewelry? Do you have someone on your Christmas list that would love some Stella & Dot?

Beauty For the Heart~~“May God give you perspective on things that frustrate you. May your heart of compassion grow for those who suffer in unimaginable ways. May you pray as passionately for them as you do yourself. May God protect you from a small, selfish mindset. May He fill you up with thanksgiving and joy for the freedoms you enjoy! May He renew your resolve to be a grateful, humble soul. And may He use you tomorrow in ways that surprise and bless you.” -susie larason

I could not have said this any better!

Have a blessed day!

What To Wear On A Holiday Date Night

Welcome to our 12 Days of Holiday Outfits! Today it’s What To Wear On A Holiday Date Night.

I’m partnering with Kristin from BonBon Rose Girls and Jo-Lynne from Jo-Lynne Shane to bring you 12 days of posts about what to wear for EVERY event this holiday season.

12 Days Of Holiday Outfits and More!
Well this is a fun post. I love date nights and I love to dress up!

I think it’s good to know what your husband likes when you think about what to wear. I know Wayne likes heels better than flats so I will usually wear heels when we go out.

Here’s an outfit I have and plan to wear to the dinner theatre we’re going to be attending in a few weeks.

I tried this on for Wayne and it was a hit. :-)

I saw this outfit on Pinterest and loved it. It’s a little more casual but would be fun to wear for a holiday date night.

Beauty for the Heart~~Years ago, Wayne and I read the book, The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman. I highly recommend this book to married couples.

We each have a love language and we share our love language with our spouse. But if that’s not their love language they’re aren’t feeling loved.

Wayne’s love language is words of affirmation. You would know that very quickly if you were around him. He tells me he loves me and how beautiful he thinks I am all day long. But that’s not my love language.

My love language is acts of service. So when he empties the dishwasher or folds the laundry I feel loved! And when I tell him I love him and he’s an amazing husband and father, he feels loved.

Anyway, marriage is not easy and we have worked hard to have a good one but it’s worth it!!

Do something extra special for your spouse today. Let them know you love them!!!

Have a blessed day!

The Oversized Cardigan

Happy Thursday friends! I’ve been having so much fun with the 12 Days of holiday outfits! It’s been helping me get ready for all the get togethers that I have coming up.

Last Saturday I shared this oversized cardigan from Marshall’s with you on my What To Wear Black Friday Shopping post. The brand is an Italian brand that isn’t online.

The Oversized Cardigan

I love an oversized cardigan! They’re great on a cold day when you’re going to be running errands and you don’t want to lug a coat around.

Here are some oversized cardigans I found online. #5 is probably the closest to mine but they don’t have it in a tan color.

Casual Fashion For Women Over 40

Today I’m sharing some casual fashion for women over 40. My casual fashion consists of a plaid shirt and booties which I seem to have a thing for these days.

I’ve worn this Old Navy shirt with a red vest but decided to wear it alone today.

I love to add  bracelets to my outfit. The gold one is from Stella & Dot and I wear it all the time.

I’ve talked about my trench coat before but it’s a staple piece for me. I love to wear it this time of the year when the weather is chilly. A trench coat adds a little class to a basic outfit.

Beauty For the Heart~~I’m typing this post from a hospital room. My father-in-law has pneumonia and my husband and I are sitting with him. He’s 88 years old and at that age, pneumonia can be a little dangerous.

Hopefully he’ll get to go home soon. Hospitals are no fun!

As I sit here and listen to all that’s going on outside his room, I hear a lot of different conversations. Some are sweet, some are laced with obscenities, some are from people who are sick and need help.

It reminds me how each of us are different…..our backgrounds, our lifestyles, even our genetics.

But God in his perfect plan, created each of us. He loves us and he wants us to know Him. It’s a beautiful thing!

“The God who made the world and everything in it, this Master of sky and land, doesn’t live in custom-made shrines or need the human race to run errands for him, as if he couldn’t take care of himself. He makes the creatures; the creatures don’t make him. Starting from scratch, he made the entire human race and made the earth hospitable, with plenty of time and space for living so we could seek after God, and not just grope around in the dark but actually find him. He doesn’t play hide-and-seek with us. He’s not remote; he’s near. We live and move in him, can’t get away from him! Acts 17:24-28 (MSG)

Have a blessed day!

How To Choose Colors That Flatter Your Skin Tone

Color is a great accessory to add to our wardrobe. Since we have a lot of dark, dreary days this time of the year,  I especially like to wear color. Today we’re going to learn how to choose colors that flatter your skin tone.

How to choose colors that flatter your skin tone

Years ago when my husband and I started dating he told me his favorite color was orange. Of course, I immediately went out and bought some clothes that were orange.

I kept noticing how bad I looked. My dark circles were even darker. I didn’t have any color in my face and I looked tired!

I finally realized that orange was not my color! If I’m going to wear orange, it’s best to wear it away from my face.

That’s why it’s important to know what colors look best on you.

With the right colors:

  • Your skin tone will have a glow.
  • Your eyes will appear brighter.
  • Your hair will reflect it’s natural highlights.
  • You’ll hear compliments such as “That is your color, you look great!”

With the wrong colors:

  • Your skin tone will appear tired..
  • Your eyes may appear shadowed, and you’ll see dark circles
  • You’ll hear comments – such as “You look tired today.” and “Are you feeling OK?”

First, determine your skin tone:

Winter complexions have blue or pink undertones. Skin can be pale white, yellowish-olive, or dark. Winter people are generally brunettes, with dark eye color.

Summer complexions have blue or pink undertones. Skin is pale and pink. Summers are often natural blondes or brunettes with pale eyes.

Autumn complexions have golden undertones. Many redheads and brunettes with golden brown eyes fall into this category.

Spring complexions have golden undertones and are usually creamy white or peach. Spring people generally have blonde or red hair, freckles, rosy cheeks, and blue or green eyes.

Now, choose clothes to flatter your skin tone:

Winters should wear colors that are sharp, stark and clear. White, black, navy blue, red and shocking pink all go well with winter complexions. For lighter colors, wear icy tones rather than pastels. Avoid subdued tones like beige, orange and gold.

Summers should choose pastels and soft neutrals with rose and blue undertones. Lavender, plum, rose-brown and soft blue work well, while black and orange do not.

Autumns should select colors with golden undertones, like camel, beige, orange, gold and dark brown. Avoid colors with blue tones, like navy.

Springs can wear warm colors like camel, peach, golden yellow and golden brown. Avoid dark, dull colors.

Last summer (2013), I had some professional pictures taken. I wore a stark green blouse since I’m a winter and I usually get compliments when I wear that color.

How To Choose Colors That Flatter Your Skin Tone

So there you have it! Know your season, and choose colors that flatter your skin tone. This will make your shopping much easier!

Do you know which season you are? I’d love to hear!

Beauty For the Heart~~“It is a joy to Jesus when a person takes time to walk more intimately with Him. The bearing of fruit is always shown in Scripture to be a visible result of an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.” – Oswald Chambers

Today I want to spend time with Jesus so that my life will bear fruit for Him!

How I Use Pinterest!

Good morning!! I don’t know about you all but I spend some time on Pinterest. Some times too much time. I go there to look for one thing, and then I get sucked in. Yikes!

One of the best things about Pinterest is if you want to style an outfit, all you have to do is type in what you’re looking for and a ton of outfits will pop up. I use it all the time!

I added several outfits to my Fall/Winter Board recently and I thought I’d share them with you.

Jo-Lynne is a friend of mine and always has great outfits. She looks fabulous in blue and I love this outfit!
