Are Pantyhose In or Out of Style?

Are Pantyhose In or Out of Style?

With Easter just a few days away, and many of us will be wearing dresses to church, I thought we would talk about pantyhose. Plus, I get a lot of emails asking “should I wear pantyhose?”

First, if your legs look good without pantyhose, don’t wear them. Natural legs are always “in”.

Here’s the way I see it.

>Pantyhose are not in style but if you feel your legs look better with them, then wear them.

>Age definitely seems to be a factor on whether you’ll wear them or not. Some of you are in the age group that have grown up wearing pantyhose and you have no problem with them.

>But there are those of us (myself included) that didn’t grow up wearing them a lot so we don’t wear them. At this time, I don’t own a pair of pantyhose.

>Self tanners help legs look better and I use Sun Labs all the time.

>Another option is Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs. This stuff is amazing and gets great reviews! It’s like putting on a pair of hose with out the hose.

Are Pantyhose In or Out of Style?

Are Pantyhose In or Out of Style?

It also covers up a lot of imperfections on your legs. (I have purchased it at CVS Pharmacy and it’s with the Sally Hansen products not in the tanning section.)

If you feel you need to wear pantyhose, here are my tips on wearing them.

1. Do NOT wear suntan pantyhose. Most women don’t have that color leg so it looks awkward. Wear a sheer or barely there color.

2. Do not wear the high gloss or shiny pantyhose.

3. Open-toed shoes with pantyhose are a definite NO.

4. Purchase a good brand such as Calvin Klein, Donna Karen, Pretty Polly etc. These can all be found at Macy’s.

5. Make sure whatever you put on your legs is subtle and sophisticated. You want it to meld into your outfit, not scream for attention.

So what do you think? Do you wear pantyhose?? Did this post answer your questions?

Styling an Easter Dress

Hey friends! Is it Friday already? Where does the week go? I wanted to share something with you today, let’s just say it’s a new adventure.

But first, I wanted to show you a dress I recently styled for Cassie, a friend of mine. The dress is from The Limited and it’s her Easter dress.

Styling an Easter Dress

Here are a couple of ways I styled it for her.

Easter can be a little cool so I added an off white shrug. I love coral and navy together and I thought this necklace could be the focal piece. Then I added some gold bracelets, stud earrings and nude heels.

The next way I styled it is with a coral blazer. Then I added a long necklace with some hoop earrings and wedge heels.

Now, for my new adventure. I love to style outfits and to be honest, I get a lot of requests to style a dress or a piece of clothing.

Actually I’m getting more than I can do, and my husband is starting to complain a little about the amount of time I’m spending on my computer.

I love, love, styling outfits but to be fair to my family and to do the best I can possibly do, I’d like to offer my services for a small fee.

Here’s what I’ll do: (Go here for my Styling Services page. It’s under About Me in my header.)

1. Style an outfit for you with accessories. (You have the dress, shirt, skirt or pants and send me the link of where you purchased it.) You can give me the amount you’d like to spend. I’ll have this done in 2 business days for a styling fee of $10.

2. I’ll pick out a dress or outfit for your special event such as a wedding, graduation, etc. If you want this, send me a picture of yourself. I’ll pick out your outfit and style it with accessories. I’ll have this done in 3 business days for a styling fee of $15.

There are other things I’d love to add to this in the future. Possibly some skype conversations, wardrobe consultation but for right now this is where I’m going to start.

***This does NOT mean that you can’t email me with questions about styling, I don’t ever mind, but for an entire outfit and for a quicker response I’m going to try it this way.

I hope all this makes sense, please let me know if you have any questions. Is there anything else you would like for me to add? I love your ideas!

Beauty For the Heart~~In May, I’m speaking to a group of women about “Beauty For the Heart”. How do we look beautiful from the inside? It’s not always easy. Bitterness, anger and pride can easily rear their ugly head.

But God’s word says, “Lord, may the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart be pleasing in your eyes. You are my Rock and my Redeemer.” Psalm 19:14 (NIRV)

Praying today that our words and our thoughts will be pleasing to Him.

Have a blessed day!

Easter Dresses For Women Over 40

With Easter being two weeks away, I thought I’d share some Easter dresses for women over 40. These would also be great for graduations and weddings.

A couple of reminders for women over 40~~don’t wear matchy, matchy, such as a matching skirt and jacket. Also, don’t try to match your shoes and your handbag.

To make you look more young and hip, add trendy jewelry. For instance with dress #4, I would add a coral bracelet or chandelier earrings with coral in them. Wear wedge heels or an open toe platform shoe (see picture 2). Small things can make a huge difference.

If you’re concerned about the length of your dress, you can buy slip extenders to add length. This is a DIY slip extender and you can find it here. I also found some on Etsy that are already made.

Easter Dresses For Women Over 40

Here are some dresses that I liked:

1. Gemma Wrap Dress//2. Studio M Three-Quarter-Sleeve Striped Knit Dress//3. Evan Picone Cap-Sleeve Faux-Wrap Dress//4. MSK Short-Sleeve Ruched Surplice Dress – Plus//5. Studio 1® 3/4-Sleeve Squareneck Print Dress//6. Liz Claiborne Faux-Wrap Dress//7. Black Label by Evan-Picone Belted Eyelet Lace Fit-and-Flare Dress//8. Chaps Colorblock Sheath Dress//9. Apt. 9® Mixed-Media Sheath Dress – Women’s Plus

A good rule of thumb for dress or skirt length that’s always in style is letting the dress or skirt hit the spot on the back of your knee that curves in slightly. From the front it’s just above the knee. If you like a bit more length, have your skirts hit the middle of the knee.

Do you usually dress up on Easter sunday? Or do you like to keep it casual?

Beauty For the Heart~~One of the things my family would tell you about me, is I have a tendency to be a control freak. Okay, they would say I AM a control freak. I’m the oldest sibling. I’m the planner in the family, if we’re doing something as a family, they call me to find out when, where, etc.

My sister has even said when she plans her kid’s birthdays, she calls me first to find out the plan (okay she’s going overboard with that comment, but you get the point).

Over the last several years, God has been teaching me (and they’ve been hard lessons to learn) that I’m not in control. I had no control over losing my Mom to cancer. I had no control when it came to my daughter’s marriage ending in divorce.

I’m not in control but I’m so thankful I know the one that is in control. I’m learning that I have to trust God with my family. I would rather entrust my family to God than anyone else in the world.

Have you struggled with control issues?? Are you learning to let go and let God?

Have a blessed day!

MNG by Mango at JCPenney

Sometimes I’m surprised by a brand of clothing. That was the case with MNG by Mango at JCPenney

My sister and I went shopping before our trip to San Francisco. I was helping her pick out some clothes and we happened to look at the the MNG by Mango brand.

I had never looked at it before and at first glance, I didn’t think I would like it. But we decided to try a few things on and surprisingly I loved it!

MNG by Mango is a contemporary collection with very reasonable prices.

It’s a casual look and I’m wearing my David Kind glasses. I like that the blouse is long in the back too. :-)

April Style Tips

Happy 1st day of April!! It’s time for some April Style Tips and remember it’s also April Fool’s Day, so watch out. :-)

April Style Tips

Let’s think spring! The temperatures are starting to warm up and I’m ready to pull out sandals and ditch my tights and boots.

Here are some style tips to get you ready for April.

1. Get those toes ready for sandals-whether you do your own pedicure or get pedicures, it’s time to get those toes ready for sandal weather.

I think it’s fun to play with different colors on my toes. Right now, I’m loving this ZOYA nail polish. The color is called Kendal. The essie polish is fashion playground.

April Style Tips

2. Use a good self tanning lotion-Short sleeves and cropped pants call for a little bit of color on our arms and legs. My favorite self tanner is still Sun Labs but Cara from Maskcara recently mentioned Tanwise, and I like it too. Tanwise can be bought at Sally Beauty Supply.

April Style Tips

When I use a self tanner I use latex gloves to put it on so my hands don’t stain. If you don’t have latex gloves, use baking soda after applying it to get the self tanner off the palm of your hands.

3. Get a spring makeover-This is one of my favorite things to do. Head to the mall and get a spring makeover. This time I got one at Bobbi Brown but you can pick whatever makeup line you like.

April Style Tips

It’s fun to see the new spring colors and I always find something I love! I’m going to share some of the products I purchased with you soon.

Do you have any other style tips to add to my list?

Beauty For the Heart~~“If the times are indeed as bad as we say they are… if the darkness in our world is growing heavier by the moment… if we are facing spiritual battles right in our own homes and churches… then we are foolish not to turn to the One who supplies unlimited grace and power. He is our only source. We are crazy to ignore him.” – Jim Cymbala

Have a blessed day!
