How I Add Volume To My Hair

How I Add Volume To My Hair

It’s no secret that I like volume when it comes to my hair. I blame it on being a teenager in the 80s! Thankfully I have left the curly permed hair behind!

I’ve recently found a product that I like as well as the Aquage Uplifting Foam. It’s Aveda Volumizing Tonic and it does a great job of adding volume to my hair.

I like the smell, and the way it feels in my hair. It doesn’t leave any sticky residue and works great on fine to medium hair.

Here’s what I do:

  • I lift sections of my hair near the crown and spray Volumizing Tonic to the scalp area.
  • Then I use a round brush, blow dryer and hands to enhance the volume.

It’s not easy to take pictures of the back of your hair but I tried!

This product can be found at a lot of salons so it should be easy to find. If you like a little volume you might want to give it a try!

Do you have a favorite hair product? Have you tried Aveda Volumizing Tonic?

My Favorite Hair Products

Many of you have asked about the hair products I use so I thought I’d share my favorite hair products. I change them every once in a while but this is what I’m using right now.

I use L’Oreal EverPure Shampoo and Conditioner. I usually use the volume shampoo and conditioner.

I also use L’Oreal Everstrong overnight hair repair treatment at night to help with my dry hair. I put it on my ends and leave it in while I sleep. It helps to keep your hair healthy!

I use Aquage uplifting foam to help with volume and I have to be careful not to use too much! It’s a root lifter and it gives you a lot of volume!

I use Paul Mitchell strength before I blow dry my hair. It’s for chemically treated hair. It helps strengthen weak hair, replace lost nutrients and prevent breakage. I blow dry and flat iron my hair everyday so this is a must for me!

I asked my husband to take pictures of my hair. He can’t work my camera so he had to use the automatic setting so these pictures aren’t great but they’re better than nothing.

My haircut is an angled bob, I have fine hair, but I have a lot of it. If that makes sense?

Fall 2012 Hair Trends

Good morning! I know its still a little early for some of you to start thinking about fall, but is it ever too early to talk about fall hair trends?

I have to say I laughed as I was preparing this post because some of the models are hilarious and scary at the same time. I picked the tamest photos I could find.

If you’re planning on getting your hair cut anytime soon, you’ll want to check out these trends to see if any will work for you.

I’ve decided for fall 2012 almost anything goes and there’s definitely a 70s feel to fall 2012 trends. For instance, Retro bouffants seem to be all the rage. Get out those teasing combs and hairspray and add some volume. Yes!

(Notice the animal print in the above picture. It’s everywhere this fall/winter. I can’t wait to share some of my animal print earrings I’m making. Too cute!)

The next hair trend is completely opposite, squeaky clean strands……..

or the low volume look.

If you’re lucky enough to have long hair, the precise pony will be a must wear for you.

But if short hair is your thing, then you’ll love the pixie cut!

This totally cracks me up, the wind blown look is in. Who knew? If your hair gets blown away on a windy day, wear your hair proud, because you’re in style!

If you like bangs, you’re in luck. Blunt bangs are hot!

Thank goodness the blunt cut and shoulder length cut is still in style. Whew! I’m not sure I could pull some of the other looks off!

So what do you think? Which styles are your favorite?

Beauty For the Heart~~ Today, my devotion talked about how God created beauty. There’s beauty in creation such as a sunset or a sunrise, the ocean, the seasons etc.

We are not to worship the creation but the Creator. So today, I’m going to look around and worship God, focusing on all the beauty that He has created.

Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker! Psalms 95:6

Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created. Revelation 4:11

A Birthday and A Messy Bun

Wow ladies!! I was blown away by all the sweet comments

you left about my post on Can You Mix Fashion and Jesus?

I loved the comment Valerie left. She is pursuing a career in fashion

designing and says,

“So anyway, this morning God put it on my heart to google

“fashion and Jesus” and I found your blog. I was sad to see

so many negative things about fashion and faith on the

web, so I was thrilled to find your blog. God has given

each one of us different talents and abilities and I strongly

believe He has called us to use them for his glory! Amen:)

so you go girl, God is going to use you in a way you could

have never imagined. I am excited for you and excited

to see what God has in store for me. Glory be to God!”

Isn’t God amazing!! He can use anything for His glory, even fashion!

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who googles fashion and Jesus.

Thank you all for your encouragement, you blessed me!

This past weekend we celebrated my sister’s birthday.

Janet, my stepmom had an adorable cake made for her.

I think that’s suppose to be my sister looking quite cute in a red dress and red shoes.

I love a fashionable cake!

Traci also had a pretty hairdo at her party and of course I asked her if I

could take a picture. A few weeks ago I shared with you a blog that I love called

The Small Things Blog and I showed you her haircut and how much I loved it.

I also shared the blog with my sister and told her she could definitely do the messy bun look.

Here’s a picture of Kate from The Small Things Blog…………..

Here’s how Traci’s hair looked………….(I took these with my iphone)

I got her the cute scarf that’s around her neck.

I thought her hair looked great and I wished mine was a little longer

so I could wear a messy bun.

We had lots of fun celebrating. We ate and talked and ate and talked!

Traci especially enjoyed holding this boy……….we are all in love with Colt Allen.

He’s my favorite pumpkin!

Am I prejudice or is he just stinkin’ adorable????

Have a great day!

I’m On A Hair Kick!

Okay I wanted to share some more hair pictures with you.

For some reason I’m on a hair kick!

I called my sister and told her about it and we both

laughed about how Mom was the same way.

She was always finding a haircut she liked and then

trying to find out where they got their haircut, how they styled it,

and what products they used. Mom would have loved Pinterest!

Anyway I would like to let my hair grow out a little bit and so I’m

going to use Kate’s haircut as a guide.

Here’s her haircut………….I love it!!

And here’s my haircut right now………..and yes I am going to stay a brunette.

My hair grows pretty fast so it won’t take long for it to get to her length.

I’m also going to use the products she uses on her hair everyday and see how

they work on my hair. We’ll see!

I would love to be able to wear my hair like this………the messy ponytail.

Love this too…………

Well let me know what you think!

Do you have a favorite haircut?
