Happy Sunday!

Happy Sunday friends! I have a busy day of worship and family time. We are celebrating my cousin’s graduation from college.

Jena, my cousin, did not have an easy childhood. Her graduation from college is truly a celebration and I’m so proud of her!

Today, I’m sharing a song that’s a few years old but I still love it. Enjoy!

What are your plans today? I hope it’s a great day!

Simply Sunday-If We’ve Ever Needed You

I hope you’ve had a good weekend! Sundays are busy for us but I’m always thankful to be able to go to church and worship. I love being with my church family!

This song by Casting Crowns was recently sung at one of our services. It’s several years old but still relevant today. The song is, If We’ve Ever Needed You. I’m not a pessimist but it just seems to me that our world is going down a dark path.

What has happened to morality? Do we even know what morality is anymore? Morality is defined as knowing the distinction between right and wrong or good and bad behavior.

We’ve not only lost morality but our christian values are being attacked. I sometimes worry what our grandson, Colt Allen, will face in his lifetime.

Simply Sunday-If We've Ever Needed You

I love the words to this song (the video is fair). I hope you enjoy it and realize–We Need Him!

”But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 25:15b

Have a blessed day!

Glorifying God in Your Marriage

You may have seen this video but I saw it for the first time this weekend. It’s a video on marriage between a young man and a young women.

It starts no different than any other couple’s wedding highlights. An outdoor ceremony, the bridesmaids are in flower-print dresses and the bride herself wears cowboy boots. It looks picture perfect.

Then you see the groom, and you know this is no ordinary couple or wedding or marriage.

Ian Murphy suffered a traumatic brain injury in a car accident in September 2006 on his way to work outside Philadelphia.

He and his then-girlfriend had planned to marry after they graduated college that December. Instead, Larissa wrote in a post on the Desiring God blog, they “waited four years and got married when he was sick and disabled and we were still grieving.”

Because of the severity of Ian’s brain injury, a judge had to approve the couple’s marriage license, Larissa wrote in a post on the Desiring God blog. But not only did he approve the license, she said, but also the judge said this:

“You two exemplify what love is all about. I believe that marriage will not only benefit you both, but our community, and hope that everyone in this city could see your love for one another.”

So grab a cup of coffee or hot tea and see how God is glorified in Ian and Larissa……….

The Story of Ian & Larissa from Desiring God on Vimeo.

It’s easy to see how God is glorified in their marriage.

How is God glorified in your marriage? What story are you telling the world about God?

Have a blessed Sunday!

Here’s what I’ve learned about the Bible: That reading God’s word prepares me not only for today but for tomorrow, and the next day, and the day after, and the day after that and so on and so on.

Through reading the Bible, we come to know Jesus who is the bread of life. John 6:35 says, Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

I love how Ann Voskamp describes God’s word, “a sure Word, a pure Word, the only secure Word. I believe the words on those pages are breathed from the very throne room of heaven, are the love letter penned from the heart of God; a beacon of light for stumbling feet to find sure footing on a dark path.”

I don’t know about you, but I need a beacon of light!

Praying today that you will seek His word. Have a blessed Sunday!

Simply Sunday-Hold Me

My husband took this picture of Colt with his Iphone. It’s not the best picture or the best quality but this is what Colt does all the time now.

Simply Sunday

He stands right in front of you, puts his hands up in the air and opens and closes his fingers. He’s saying, “I need you to hold me!”

It’s the most precious thing and there’s no way we can say no to him. So we pick him up and we hold him, we tell him how much we love him and we squeeze him real tight.

When I was looking at this picture it reminded me of Matthew 18:2-6, “Jesus called a little child to him and put the child among them. Then he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Don’t we need to come to our Heavenly Father the same way Colt comes to us? Just humbling ourselves and admitting we need Him.

It’s easy to think that we can do things on our own but deep down inside we have a need for a Savior and I’m so thankful when I lift my hands up that he’s there to hold me and comfort me.

Have a blessed Sunday!
