Beauty For the Heart~~Matthew 6:22-23 reminds us to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus! “The eye is like a lamp for the body. Suppose your eyes are good. Then your whole body will be full of light. But suppose your eyes are bad. Then your whole body will be full of darkness.”

Spring Makeup Trends

***Okay friends, I’ve switched my email service and you should now be getting my emails through another server. I know this doesn’t mean a lot to you but it’s been something I’ve needed to do.

I’ll be tweaking it a little over the next few weeks. I’m trying to truncate my posts in my email which means you have to click over to my blog to read it.

Here’s why: I get paid per clicks through my ad networks, which means it helps me for you to click over to my blog. But I want your honest opinion. Does this bother you??

Thanks for you patience and for being such faithful readers!! You’re such a blessing to me!

The last few weeks we’ve been talking about the spring trends in fashion, handbags, and shoes. Today, I thought we’d talk about spring makeup trends.

Spring-makeup-trends

I thought I would go today and get a spring makeover. I usually try to do one in the fall and spring. So before I go, I checked out the spring trends.

Makeup artists love to experiment with the latest trends but the latest trends don’t work for everyone. I already know that bold lipstick is not for me so I don’t even want to try it.

Here are some of the latest trends with makeup.

1. Major Brows- Thicker brows are still the way to go. I love the look of thicker brows so I hope this doesn’t go away any time soon.

2. Winged liner- I love this look but I’m not sure I can pull it off. I do love the way it lifts your eye which is great for women over 40.

3. Pastel eyeshadow- I’m not sure about this one either. I know blue and green is popular right now but I don’t think I can pull it off. I’ll probably stick to my neutrals.

4. Bold lipstick- This is gorgeous on her, but it’s not for me.

Maybelline ColorSensational Lipcolor

I’m always on a mission to find the perfect lipcolor. Not too dark, a hint of pink and most importantly it wont dry my lips out.

Let me introduce you to Maybelline ColorSensational Lipcolor. My go to color right now is Warm Me Up.

Maybelline ColorSensational Lipcolor

Maybelline ColorSensational lipcolor has:
• Crisper color from pure pigments
• Creamier feel from nourishing honey nectar
• 68 captivating shades

As you can see, it gives me a hint of color.

I also use a lip liner most of the time, right now I’m using Revlon ColorStay in Natural. There’s very little color and it helps to keep my lipcolor from bleeding.

Next I add CoverGirl wetslicks lip gloss in Clear Radiance to add a touch of shine.

Have you tried Maybelline ColorSensational lipcolor? What lipcolor are you using right now?

***I wanted to share with you something fun coming up next week! Next Thursday, March 20th, the first official day of spring, I’m joining with four other fashion bloggers to bring you our favorite spring fashion trend.

5 Fashion Bloggers Style Their Favorite Spring Fashion Trend

These ladies have such great style and they’re some of my favorite fashion bloggers.

Beginning at the top: Jo-Lynne from Musings of a Housewife, Kilee from One Little Momma, Me (duh), Allison from Two Thirty-Five Designs and another Alison from Get Your Pretty On.

If you haven’t checked their blogs out you’ll definitely want to!

Beauty For the Heart~~When you face confusing circumstances, don’t blame God. Don’t give up following Him. Go to God. Ask Him to reveal the truth of your circumstances. Ask Him to show you His perspective. Then wait on the Lord.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9

Have a blessed day!

Spring 2014 Trends In Nail Color

spring-2014-trends-in-nail-color

I’m sitting in my home office, looking out the window, and all I can see is white. Everything is covered in snow, but I’m thinking spring.

In fact, I’ve been looking at the spring 2014 trends in nail color. I’m pretty conservative when it comes to my fingernails. I stick with light colors or a french manicure, with a very thin white line.

Right now, I’m doing gel nails. I go back and forth with using them (I’ve also tried the SNS nails. I don’t like acrylic nails at all). My biggest hang up with manicures is I hate to sit and have them done. I’m always thinking of a million things I could be doing!

My opinion is, if you go too crazy with your nails when you’re over 40, you start to look like you’re trying too hard. Remember, we’re not trying to look like a teenager.

I have short fingers so dark colors don’t work for me. But on my toes, I’m a little more brave.

So here is what’s hot this spring! The ombre look.

Stripes are not just for your clothes, you can add them to your nails.

Do yo get manicures? Have you tried gel nails? What are your thoughts?

Beauty For the Heart~~I’ve been reading about character in my bible study. Character is defined as strength of moral fiber.  A person’s character is the sum of his or her thoughts, intentions, desires, and actions. As christians, we need to be “women of integrity.”

Proverbs 10:9 says, Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out.

Have a blessed day!

Fashion Over 40-Winter Fashion

I’m sharing some winter fashion and I really wish I could take my pictures outside but winter is getting in the way!

My back porch is covered in snow and it’s also windy. We did have one warm day this week but it was also windy. Spring will be here soon, right??

Fashion Over 40-Winter Fashion

Anyway, here are some of the outfits I wore this week. I purchased this striped blazer at Target on clearance. I wasn’t sure how I wanted to wear it so I just added my chambray shirt.

Our one warm day, and I ditched the boots and wore my gold toe flats. It was wonderful!

I purchased these green pants from Ann Taylor last fall. For some reason I struggle finding something to wear with them. I’m not sure I love this sweater but I wore it.

I’m trying to go through my closet and wear things I haven’t worn yet this winter. The clothes I haven’t worn, will be given away.

Do you have clothes in your closet you haven’t worn this year? Do you hang on to them or get rid of them?

Valleys Make The Mountaintop Sweeter

Valleys Make The Mountaintop Sweeter

After writing the last few weeks about the struggles our family has gone through, I’ve been reminded that we all have struggles. So many of you have emailed and shared about your own stories.

Here’s my conclusion, sometimes we must go through the valleys to reach the top of the mountain. The valleys are hard but they make the mountaintop that much sweeter.

James 1:2-4 says, Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

I’m a huge David Crowder fan and this song made me smile. Enjoy!

Have you found that the valleys in your life, have made the mountaintop sweeter?

Have a blessed Sunday!
