What I Wore-August 2014
Dog Days Of Summer

It’s been a fun month, but I’m ready to start adding some fall clothes to my wardrobe!

Some of you have asked if I’m letting my hair grow out and the answer is, yes. I’m going to keep the same style but try to let it grow a little longer. We’ll see how it goes!

I’m tired of all my summer clothes, what about you?

Beauty For the Heart~~I don’t know what’s going on in your life right now but this verse is a good reminder to look to Him. Good or bad, seek Him!

Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. Psalm 105:4

Have a blessed day!

The Dog Days Of Summer Are Here

Today’s Tuesday so I wanted to remind  you to pray for Bennett. Someone on my Facebook page said, “Let’s storm heaven!” So today we’re storming heaven on behalf of Bennett! Thank you for your prayers!

Well, it’s finally gotten hot and humid in Kentucky. Which means I’ve pulled out the shorts and the flip flops.

I rarely wear flip flops except around the house but I recently went shopping and wore wedge heels, I shopped longer than expected and my feet started hurting. I grabbed these flip flops from Gap, they were $7.99 and I was desperate!! Have you ever had to do that?

Sometimes pictures don’t show the actual colors, I took this picture inside and it’s closest to the color of the shirt. I popped a yellow belt for fun. You don’t have to be matchy matchy all the time.

I love when you all send me pictures and share a little bit of your life with me. One of my readers, Sharon, sent me this picture of her sister, Mary. Sharon also sent me the bracelet I’m wearing in the above picture.

It’s a Stella & Dot Cady Wrap Bracelet and it’s gorgeous!! Thank you Sharon, I’ll be wearing it all the time! (The other bracelet I’m wearing is Stella & Dot Renegade Cluster Bracelet.)

Mary lives in Winchester, VA. She has two children ages, 4 and 11. She had surgery almost a year ago and has lost over 100 lbs! She’s now healthy, exercises daily and no longer has high blood pressure or diabetes! Way to go Mary, you look amazing!

Lori is one of my blog readers and she’s wearing a chambray shirt, which of course, I love. Lori, is a DIYer and is thinking about starting a blog of her own. Lori I think you should do it!!

Are you experiencing the dog days of summer?? Fall is right around the corner!

Beauty for the Heart~~Wayne and I are going to have a small group of couples meeting at our house on Sunday nights beginning in September. We’re going to be teaching through the book, Not A Fan. I’ve read it before but I’m looking forward to reading it again! We love sports so the analogy of Not a Fan appeals to us.

Here’s a quote from the book:

“It may seem that there are many followers of Jesus, but if they were honestly to define the relationship they have with him I am not sure it would be accurate to describe them as followers. It seems to me that there is a more suitable word to describe them. They are not followers of Jesus. They are fans of Jesus. Here is the most basic definition of fan in the dictionary: “An enthusiastic admirer” It’s the guy who goes to the football game with no shirt and a painted chest. He sits in the stands and cheers for his team. He’s got a signed jersey hanging on his wall at home and multiple bumper stickers on the back of his car. But he’s never in the game. He never breaks a sweat or takes a hard hit in the open field. He knows all about the players and can rattle off their latest stats, but he doesn’t know the players. He yells and cheers, but nothing is really required of him. There is no sacrifice he has to make. And the truth is, as excited as he seems, if the team he’s cheering for starts to let him down and has a few off seasons, his passion will wane pretty quickly. After several losing seasons you can expect him to jump off the fan wagon and begin cheering for some other team. He is an enthusiastic admirer.”

Are you a Fan or a Follower?

Have a blessed day!

Fashion Friday-Pinterest Inspired

Happy Friday friends!! Today I’m sharing a Pinterest inspired outfit. I’ve had these green shorts for a while but hadn’t worn them. I saw this outfit on Pinterest and decided to give them a try.

I love her necklace but I don’t like wearing one on the outside of my shirts, it’s not comfortable so my outfit is a little more plain. But don’t you love how my cell phone case matches my outfit? Ha!

green shorts and chambray

I added some green earrings and gold sandals. I’m headed out to do some shopping and I love wearing a chambray shirt because it makes trying on clothes easy. (Pin source here.)

I have two different chambray shirts on in these pictures. I couldn’t decide which one I liked better. There’s not that much difference.

Don’t you love using Pinterest to help with outfit ideas?

I’m still overwhelmed with all the emails I’m getting after writing about menopause. I’m still answering them so if you haven’t heard from me yet, bear with me!

So many of you are ordering ylang ylang from Young Living, that I’m afraid they may run out! I’m glad I have plenty!

Take An Outfit From Summer To Fall

I know it’s still summer but usually about this time of the year, I start transitioning some of my outfits to a more fall look. There’s nothing fancy about this outfit but it’s something I wear when I’m running errands. Here’s how I take an outfit from summer to fall.

Take An Outfit From Summer To Fall I’ve had this navy blue top from Old Navy for several years and you probably have something like it in your closet. As fall nears, instead of wearing it with white pants, I like to wear these green pants I recently purchased from The Limited.

Take An Outfit From Summer To Fall I obviously have no problem carrying a big handbag! I usually have my ipad in my purse so it’s nice to have something this size.

Beauty For the Heart~~My heart is so heavy this morning for the family that lost their journalist son to a beheading by ISIS. Can you even imagine if that were your child?? Today would you join me in praying for this family and all those that are suffering in Iraq.

Hear my prayer, Lord, listen to my cry for help; do not be deaf to my weeping. I dwell with you as a foreigner, a stranger, as all my ancestors were. Psalm 39:12

Have a blessed day!

Fashion For Women Over 40+Menopause

Well, I was overwhelmed with your emails from my post yesterday. OVERWHELMED!! I wish I could hug each of you! I cannot believe how many of us our suffering from menopause, and to be honest, we’re suffering silently. I pray we can help each other through this season of our life.

If I haven’t answered your email yet, I will!!

For those of you not interested in Essential Oils, don’t worry, this is still a fashion & beauty blog. I’m not changing that!! But I do want to share about healthy lifestyles from time to time so I hope you’ll bear with me.

We’ve had some crazy summer weather here in Kentucky. We had a mild day so I pulled out this light crew neck layered sweater. (For some reason my camera blurred me instead of the background, I guess it thought the background was prettier!!)

It’s perfect for a mild day. I’m wearing a white tank tucked in under the sweater. The sweater and the off white piece are attached. Does that make sense? I added my favorite Stella & Dot necklace.

Now to Young Living Essential Oils!

I could write forever about these oils but most of you asked how I use them? Where do I put them?

There are 3 ways to use essential oils:

1. Inhalation (Diffuse or inhale directly from the bottle)

2. Topical Application (Place 2-3 drops of oil in the palm of your hand or on the desired application area. Massage the oil in a circular motion onto the skin. Repeat as necessary.

3. Internal Consumption (Some of the oils can be taken internally. We can talk more about this later.)

This 6 minute video explains it PERFECTLY. I think if you’ll take just a few minutes to watch it, you’ll understand it much better!

Now really quick let me introduce the Vita Flex Foot Chart. This may sound crazy to you if you’ve never heard of it but you’re feet are a great place to massage your oils.

This chart not only shows where your organs are on the bottom of your feet but also where to rub certain oils.

If you notice on the chart women’s reproductive organs are on the side of the feet. That’s where I rub Ylang Ylang and Clary Sage.

I know it sounds crazy but it works for me and many other women. Also, there’s a great Pinterest board with lots of information on essential oils. These ladies know what they’re talking about and I trust their information. Go here to follow this board.

Okay, ask away! I’ll be sharing some other oils that would be good for menopause this week. If you want to join me and sign up with Young Living go here.

Beauty For the Heart~~“People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway. If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway. For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.” -Mother Teresa

Have a blessed day!

Friday Fashion For Women Over 40

Well, I was overwhelmed by your comments yesterday. Truthfully, I’m thankful there are women in the same boat that I’m in with menopause, peri-menopause and hormones. We’re in this together ladies!

I’m also excited that I can share some things that have worked for me. I would love to interview my husband and let him share with you all the difference that my essential oils have made in my overall physical health. He can tell a difference!

Let’s be clear, I’m not a doctor but I think most OBGYN’s agree that there are risks with hormone supplements. That’s why it’s important you do the research and do what’s best for YOU. Essential oils have worked for me and the great thing is, there are NO bad side effects. Yay!

More about my crazy hormones and what I’m doing to control them next week! Now let’s get on with Friday Fashion for Women over 40.

This green blouse from Stitch Fix is probably my favorite top that I’ve worn all summer. It’s comfortable and I love the color.

I recently purchased these leopard print flats from Zappo’s and they’re my favorite pair ever!!!! I love them!! The brand is Roper and they run about 1/2 size big. I usually wear a 7 1/2 but I ordered a 7 and they fit perfectly.

Do you have an outfit or top that has been your favorite item this summer?

Beauty For the Heart~~I was thinking about how important it is for us to encourage each other. Whether it’s encouraging each other in our faith, our health, parenting etc. We all need encouragement!

Proverbs 12:25 (NLT) says, Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up.

Encourage someone today!!

Have a blessed day!
