What To Wear On New Year’s Day

Well, don’t faint but we’re finally finishing up the 12 Days of Holiday Outfits!!

What To Wear On New Year's Day
I know it’s taken us a little while to get through this but we thought it work better if we spread it out. Today it’s What To Wear On New Year’s Day.

Here’s what I want to be wearing on New Year’s Day! The last few weeks have been hectic and my exercise has been hit or miss. Starting January 1, I want to get back to a more regular schedule.

New Year’s Day is pretty relaxed around here. Sometimes we go see a movie or we might get together with our kids and grab a bite to eat.

If we go see a movie I dress warm because it’s usually cold in the theatre.

There’s still time to sign up for our Cabi giveaway. I love the leather link bracelet they asked me to style (on my right hand).

Beauty For the Heart~~A great verse to begin the New Year, Romans 12:1-2 from The Message….

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

Have a blessed day!

What I Wore-Fashion Over 40

Happy Wednesday friends! Well if you’re counting, it’s 8 days until Christmas. Yikes! I still have quite a bit to do. But I’m one of those people who work better under pressure.

This past week, I wore several outfits that I have shared before. I wore my vest and scarf again!

I wore this poncho with my tall black boots pictured below.

I did some Christmas shopping and I don’t like to drag around a coat so I wore this checkered open cardigan with my fringe scarf from Target. Perfect for a cold day! (The wind is blowing and my hair is a little wild in these pictures.)

Do you still have some Christmas shopping left to do or are you all done?

Beauty For the Heart~~I had to share this video with you all today. Natalie Hodson is a Healthy Living blogger. She shares recipes and workouts (you do have to pay a monthly fee to get her best recipes and workouts.)

I’ve been thinking lately about the New Year and what I’ll be doing on this blog. I’m so thankful to have my blog and even more thankful that I can now work full time as a blogger. But I’ll be honest, I sometimes wonder how long I can do this?

I’m not getting any younger and does anyone want to look at pictures of an old woman?? I have lots of imperfections and the wrinkles are coming faster and faster. I’m not complaining, I’m just being honest.

This video reminds me that none of us have perfect skin, bodies, hair etc.

We’re not trying to look like we’re teenagers around here. We’re trying to grow old gracefully and more importantly we’re trying to grow in love and self-control, in kindness and gentleness, in goodness and patience, in joy and peace.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:16

Thank you so much for joining me here at Walking in Grace & Beauty. I hope you leave here knowing you are ENOUGH and you are loved by God and he made you uniquely YOU!

Have a blessed day!

What To Wear On New Year’s Eve

Welcome back to our 12 Days of Holiday Outfits! Today it’s What To Wear On New Year’s Eve.

What To Wear On New Year's Eve
So let’s talk about New Year’s Eve. First, we never go to a New Year’s Eve party. I know, we’re lame, I admit it. (For some reason most people don’t invite their pastor and pastor’s wife, hmm…)

We could go out to dinner but we don’t usually do that either. By the time New Year’s Eve rolls around, I’m done and a nice quiet evening sounds perfect to me.

So if I’m going to be honest, this is probably what I’ll be wearing New Year’s Eve. Wayne and I do stay up and watch the ball drop, we’re not that lame, we can stay up until midnight. :-)

But if I did go out, I think I would wear something like this. I’ve been wanting to try some leather pants. These are from INC and have a faux leather trim down the sides. The all leather were a little much for me.

Of course I would have to wear some type of wrap or I would freeze.

Cabi has some cute clothes to choose from and I love this red top. It’s festive and would look great with black pants and some cute accessories.

Beauty For the Heart~~A good verse for the New Year, Colossians 3:15-17 (The Message)

Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. None of this going off and doing your own thing. And cultivate thankfulness. Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way.

Have a blessed day!

Stitch Fix Review-I Kept It All!

It’s been a little while since I did a Stitch Fix Review on my blog so I thought I’d share my last fix with you.

Stitch Fix Review-I Kept It All!

Rarely do I ever keep the entire box but this last one was fabulous. I usually keep 2 to 3 items but Margaret (my stylist) knocked it out of the park on this one.

Earlier in the year I went to San Francisco and visited the Stitch Fix headquarters. It was so much fun!! They told us that on average, women keep two items from their Stitch Fix box. If you keep all 5 items, you get 25% off the total price.

Here is what I received in this box.

  •  Olive & Oak, Delbert Textured Geo Knit Sweater

Stitch Fix Review-I Kept It All!

I wore this vest on Thanksgiving Day and I absolutely love it. I had planned on wearing the fur vest I got at Target but when I got this one I decided to wear it. My daughter wore the one from Target.

  • Skies are Blue, Emira Faux Fur Collar Knit Vest

Stitch Fix Review-I Kept It All!
Oh I’m such a fan of infinity scarves and this brown one is perfect for cold winter weather.

  • Look by M, Torrey Twist Cable Knit Infinity Scarf

  • Andrew Marc, Emmet Classic Peacoat

It has leather detailing which gives a modern look to a classic coat.

Stitch Fix Review-I Kept It All!

Okay I wasn’t sure about this one but I absolutely love the feminine look of this dress. I thought it looked very Jackie Kennedy Onassis. The dress not me. :-) I’m not sure where I’ll wear this dress but if I need something dressy, I have it!!

  • M Coconinno, Ara Sleeveless Tie Waist Floral Print Dress

Stitch Fix Review-I Kept It All!

What do you think about these items in my latest fix?

FYI: The olive rain coat, maroon skinny jeans and the navy and gold scarf are all from previous Stitch Fix boxes.

Do you know someone who would love to try Stitch Fix? They now have gift cards! Of maybe you just want to try it yourself, then go here.

Have you tried wearing black booties with a skirt or dress this season?

Beauty For The Heart~~I was reading in Colossians this weekend and came across this verse, Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. Colossians 4:6

This is such a good reminder as we go through the holiday season and we’re busy and sometimes stressed. Let our words be full of grace!

Have a blessed day!

What To Wear On Christmas Eve

Welcome back to our 12 Days of Holiday Outfits series! Today it’s What To Wear On Christmas Eve!

I’m having so much fun partnering with Kristin from BonBon Rose Girls and Jo-Lynne from Jo-Lynne Shane. We’re sharing 12 days of posts about what to wear for EVERY event this holiday season.

12 Days Of Holiday Outfits and More!
I know each of us have our own traditions for Christmas Eve. For our family, I think Christmas Eve is our favorite time.

We always spent all day Christmas Eve with my husband’s family and then we would head to my parents and spend the night and spend Christmas day with them. It was how we spent Christmas and we loved it.

In 1994, my husband was called to a church that had a Christmas Eve service. What?? It was a tradition for that church and they went on and on how beautiful the service was and it was the highlight of everyone’s Christmas.

I’m going to be honest and say we were devastated. We already had our traditions. It was going to change everything!

That first year we went kicking and screaming (not literally).

I know what you’re thinking, “Cyndi, it is Jesus’ birth we’re celebrating!” I know it is,  I’m just being honest and saying it was change and at first I didn’t welcome the change.

Needless to say, we did love the Christmas Eve service and it was such a blessing to celebrate Jesus’ birth. We left our first Christmas Eve service knowing we had a new tradition!

Our kids have grown up loving the Christmas Eve service. Each year our family lights the Christ candle and now we’re making memories with Colt, our grandson, as he joins us on stage.

Our families adjusted their celebrations around our service and our traditions have been special but the Christmas Eve service is what makes Christmas for our family.

Well I’m not sure there’s a good way to transition from Jesus to fashion but here is an outfit you could wear Christmas Eve.

I do like to be comfortable because after the service we still head to my families to eat and open gifts. There’s food and presents and lots of laughter!

One of the trends I’ve been seeing a lot of in 2014 is fringe. It’s on sweaters, handbags and even boots. From what I can tell it’s still going to be “on trend” in 2015.

I recently found this Michael Kors fringed sweater at Macy’s with some fringe and thought it would be fun to wear for Christmas Eve.

What To Wear On Christmas Eve

I’m wearing black pants with these knee high boots. I know some of you were not fans of the knee high boots. Next, I’ll style them with a skirt!

This is a perfect outfit for our Christmas Eve festivities!

Beauty For the Heart~~My husband and I were talking about this very issue this week.

“Keep in mind, hurting people often hurt other people as a result of their own pain. If somebody is rude and inconsiderate, you can almost be certain that they have some unresolved issues inside. They have some major problems, anger, resentment, or some heartache they are trying to cope with or overcome. The last thing they need is for you to make matters worse by responding angrily.”  -BestQuotes4You.com

It’s so true that hurt people, hurt people and the best thing we can do is pray for them.

Have a blessed day!
