Favorite Drugstore Makeup Finds

Good morning!

It’s Monday and it’s raining here, which would be great if I could stay

home all day, but unfortunately I have to head out to work.

Today I wanted to share three products I’ve recently tried. I purchased all of them

at our local CVS Pharmacy. They are easy to find and inexpensive. Yeah!

The great thing about purchasing them at CVS is, if I don’t like something,

I can return it and get my money back. Perfect!

  • Revlon Colorstay gel eyeliner.

I use brown and I love this product, because of the container.

The brush is stored in the top. It’s a great idea, because you don’t have to spend time

looking for your eyeliner brush each time you use it.

  • Maybelline New York Expert Wear Eyeshadow Duos in Browntones.

As we age, neutral colors look the best on us. I want my eyes to look good but I don’t

want to wear colors that are glittery or are going to show off my lines and wrinkles.

This is a beautiful neutral color. I use an off white eyeshadow over my entire lid

and then add both of these colors. It’s a very soft and natural look. Perfect for my age.

  • Maybelline New York Lash Discovery Washable Mascara in black.

This mascara is great for adding length to your lashes and the brush is small

for hard to reach lashes, like mine. I have short eyelashes and I don’t want to

wear mascara that will make them look clumpy. Love this mascara!

If you have a great drugstore find, please share it with us!

Beauty for the Heart~~“I could not help but think that somewhere along the way

we had missed what was radical about our faith and replaced it with

what is comfortable.” ~David Platt

I love that quote, I want to be radical with my faith, Jesus says in Luke 9:23,

“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take

up their cross daily and follow me.”

Let’s pick up our crosses and follow Jesus today!

Picking The Right Foundation For Your Face

Happy Memorial Day weekend!

Yesterday was crazy and I didn’t get to post about foundations for your face.

So, today I’m combining cream to powder and whipped or mousse foundations.

Mousse/Whipped Foundation

  • These foundations are suitable for all skin types.
  • The texture is light and airy and it doesn’t feel heavy on your face.
  • Great for women who don’t like the feel of foundation on their face.
  • It’s perfect for summer months!

How to apply:

Use a foundation brush, sponge or even your fingers.

Cream To Powder Foundation

  • These foundations are best for normal and combination to oily skin.
  • Light and creamy texture blends easily into skin.
  • Transforms to a silky powder that won’t settle into fine lines.
  • Works well for women over 40.

How to apply:

Use a sponge or foundation brush.

I hope this has helped you pick the right foundation for your face. In case you missed it,

I shared about mineral and tinted foundations on Monday and

liquid foundations on Tuesday.

Beauty For the Heart~~Several weeks ago one of my readers asked me

about how I do my quiet time.

We’re all at different seasons of our lives.

Some of you have small children and have limited time to sit down and read

scripture. Believe me, I understand that.

But let me encourage you at whatever season your in,

find ways to read scripture and pray.

Write one scripture on an index card and place it on your refrigerator or in your

car and meditate on that scripture all day. Even try to memorize it if you can.

Pray as you go throughout your day. If your folding laundry, pray for your family

as you do their laundry. If you’re driving to work, pray (just don’t close your eyes!).

If you’re like me, and your kids are grown, you might have more

time to sit and read scripture.

The one thing that I have found is key to reading and studying scripture is consistency.

I have to make it a priority. It’s the first thing I do in the morning!

I don’t open my laptop until I’ve spent time in prayer and God’s word.

There’s not a “set in stone” way to have a quiet time but the important thing is to have one!

“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Psalm 119:105

Praying you have a blessed and safe weekend!

What are you plans for this holiday weekend?

What I Wore Wednesday

Well, we’ve made it half way through the week! Yeah!

Wednesday is a long day for me. I work all day (I’m a dental hygienist) and then come

home, change my clothes and head to church.

What are your Wednesdays like?

It’s going to be pretty hot here in Kentucky.

Thanks for stopping by and I pray you have a blessed day!

Beauty For the Heart~~None of us know what our day holds. We can make plans,

we can have a to do list, but truthfully only God knows the future. He has prepared

this day so approach it looking for Him. Whether your day is busy or not, he is with you,

wanting to guide your steps.

Let’s give Jesus control of our day!

The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.

I will advise you and watch over you.”  Psalm 32:8

Picking The Right Foundation~Liquid Foundations

Good morning ladies!

This week we’re talking about picking the right foundation for your face.

Yesterday, we talked about mineral foundations and tinted moisturizers.

Today, we’re going to talk about liquid foundations.

Liquid foundations have been around forever but the liquid foundations today

aren’t the same foundations our mothers and grandmothers wore.

Today’s liquid foundations are much better!

Liquid Foundation is ideal for: All Skin types.

Liquid foundations offer sheer to medium coverage and have a very natural look.

You can buy good liquid foundations at your local drugstore. L’Oreal and Revlon

both have great liquid foundations and are very reasonably priced.

You can also visit a local mall and have professional makeup artists help you.

MAC and Bobbi Brown are both known for their great liquid foundations.

What does liquid foundation do?

Liquid foundations even out the skin tone by smoothing out any unevenness.

It helps cover up blemishes and fine lines and can take years off your appearance.

Oily Skin:

If you have oily skin, you’ll want to look for a liquid foundation that says “oil-free”.

Dry Skin:

Use an oil-based liquid foundation. Stay away from the matte finishes because they

make dry skin look lifeless, dull and chalky. Also make sure you use a good moisturizer

before applying your foundation.

Acne Skin:

If you have acne prone skin choose an “oil free”  foundation.

Look for the word “noncomedogenic” on the label, or “salicylic acid”

listed in the ingredients.

These foundations will keep pores more clear than other foundation varieties would.

They help you keep new breakouts from surfacing and cover up the

acne you already have.

Mature Skin:

If you have more mature skin liquid foundation can cover up fine lines and wrinkles.

Choose a foundation that moisturizes the skin and evens out your skin tone.

Liquid foundation can give you a more youthful glow! Woo hoo!

How to apply liquid foundation:

Use a makeup sponge or a foundation brush.

Beauty For the Heart~~Christ’s love for us should compel us to love.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8  “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast;

it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;

it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things,

believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies,

will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.”

As Christians we need to be sharing Christ’s love.

Many people may only see Christ by seeing our lives~So Love Well!

How can you show Christ’s love this week?

Picking The Right Foundation For Your Face

Have you ever noticed how many foundations there are to choose from?

There’s liquid, powder, mousse, creams; medium coverage, full coverage,

sheer, and the list goes on!

How do you know what foundation is right for your face?

First, why should you even wear foundation? (Many women don’t and

never will, and that’s fine.)

  • But, foundation can be a barrier against pollution and toxins in the environment.
  • Foundation can even out your skin and can add color and radiance.
  • Many foundations can make you look younger and because many

contain sunscreen they protect you from the affects of sun on your face.

Let’s start today with mineral powder foundation and tinted moisturizers.

Mineral Powder Foundations

For me, mineral makeup is great for summer-time weather because I usually need less

coverage in the summer. Mineral foundations can enhance your skin’s own radiance.

I personally use Mary Kay mineral powder foundation.

Mineral powder foundations have very few ingredients so it’s great for people

with allergies or sensitive skin.

Mineral makeup is a favorite for mature skin (ahem) because it is lightweight while

providing ample coverage. Mineral foundations give you a “soft” look, and has been

compared to the airbrush in creating a flawless appearance.

If you have dry skin, make sure you use a good moisturizer before using mineral

foundation and I love to use a foundation primer too.

To apply mineral foundation use a big, natural bristle kabuki brush.

Tinted Moisturizers

If you don’t need a  lot of coverage or don’t like the feel of foundation on your face

but do want something to even out your skin tone and relieve dry skin,

tinted moisturizers may provide you with just what you need.

Tinted moisturizer is a one-step process because it’s a moisturizer and foundation in one.

It softens and protects the skin while adding a hint of foundation color.

It will even out imperfections and fade the appearance of fine lines.

I have tried JOUER luminizing moisture tint and like it on days when I want

to wear very little makeup.

If you have a lot of blemishes such as age spots, acne, etc., tinted moistuizers may not be

enough coverage for you.

Lastly, if you are having pictures made I would not wear either of these foundations due to

their light-diffusing attributes. Most of the time we need more coverage in photographs.

  • Tuesday~liquid foundations.
  • Thursday~creme to powder foundations.
  • Friday~whipped or mouse foundations.

What type of foundation do you wear? Anything you want me to cover about foundations?

Have a great Monday!
