I’m Going To The Influence Conference!

In just a few short weeks, I’m headed to Indianapolis to the Influence Conference. What first caught my eye about this conference as a blogger was this, “We believe that God has given you influence right where you are, for one purpose: to make much of Him. At Influence we’re going to dig into the common thread of all of us – the Good News.”  I immediately knew I wanted to be a part of this conference!

Although I love to blog about fashion and beauty, I want to also encourage women to grow in their relationship with Christ. This conference sounds like the perfect conference for me.

I also get to learn practical tips about blogging. Things are always changing and it’s important to keep up!

The hosts of the conference have asked us to meet and greet each other before we get to the conference in October.

Here are the questions they’ve asked:

3 Things About Me

1. I love coffee! I drink it black and I seriously can’t wait to get up and make my coffee every morning. It makes me happy!!

2. Speaking of mornings, I’m a morning person! I get super motivated in the mornings and can’t get tons of things done. But night time, I’m done. I would rather get up at 4:00 am than try to do anything past eleven o’clock.

3. I teach a young women’s Sunday School class and love it. We have a great group of young women who are eager to learn and serve. It’s such a blessing!

2 Things I’m looking forward to about the conference

1. I love meeting new people so I’m definitely looking forward to meeting new friends. I also have some friends coming to the conference and I can’t wait to connect with them.

2. I can’t wait to attend the sessions! They all sound so good, it will be hard to pick the ones I want to go to.

1 Thing I can’t leave home without

Hands down my cell phone! I’d be lost without it.

That’s it , now I can’t wait to meet everyone at the conference!

Maybe you’re not going to the conference or don’t have a blog, I’d love for you to tell me something about YOU!

I’m Home from Blissdom!

Good morning friends!

Well, I have to say I’m exhausted this Monday morning!

Most of you know my sister and I spent the last four days in Nashville, Tennessee at the Blissdom conference.

I’m paying for it today! I have to head to work this morning (I’m a dental hygienist and I work two days a week).

Tomorrow we are having new carpet put in our great room, master bedroom and our master bedroom closet. So, I need to get everything unpacked and put away quickly.

Nothing like coming home and getting back to the normal every day stuff!

I wish you could have seen Traci and I pull into my garage, and my husband run out to hug me and welcome me home (he really missed me). Traci wouldn’t hardly let him touch me and she was trying to group hug us and act like she missed him too. She’s such a nut!!

Of course I had to go see this little fellow~~ He missed his Cici!

I can’t wait to share some of the pictures and fun we had at Blissdom. I met some super sweet bloggers and learned some things I’m hoping to implement into my blog.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!

What are your plans for the week? I’d love to hear!

This Is Why I Blog!

Good morning!! Let me just say that you all are absolutely precious! I feel we need a group hug! :-)

I am blown away by all your comments on my Readers Survey (what? you haven’t taken it, click here!). You all made me laugh and cry! I’m so glad that you are enjoying my fashion posts but that you also feel Jesus still shines through on my blog. I had no idea that mixing Fashion and Jesus was a needed niche!

The one question I wished I had asked, is your age (would that have been rude?) But many of you seem to be glad that I’m ahem forty something and doing fashion posts. That gave me a great idea on a post I’m going to do in the future on “what not to wear” if your over 40. I can’t wait to share this with you~~it’s going to be fun!

I could not wait to share some of this information with my sweet hubby. I told him you all loved my fashion posts so I feel we were going to have to increase my clothing budget (yes we budget, EVERYTHING! My hubby is a Dave Ramsey wanna be). Um, he said, “No”. I don’t think he loves you all like I do! :-) Well that means I won’t be buying any JIMMY CHOO shoes anytime soon. I’m going to have to continue to shop at discount stores and work with what I have. I’m sure you understand!

Another thing I was surprised about is how “new” many of you are to my blog. I feel the need to share a little bit of why this blog is so special to me.

In 2009 my Mom asked my sister and I to read some blogs. We didn’t have any idea what she was talking about and didn’t immediately start reading them. Mom kept nudging us until we finally gave in and of course we were hooked!

We had no idea that in a few short months our precious Mom would be diagnosed with stage 4 gastric cancer and pass away on Sept. 22, 2009. Our whole world was rocked! I can’t even put into words what Mom meant to our whole family. She was and still is the most amazing women I have ever met and I miss her, I miss her so much that my heart still aches and tears well up in my eyes even as I write these words. I have so much I would love to tell her!

This was our last picture with our Mom. My daughter Courtney, Traci, Mom and me.

Traci and I both feel our blogs are a gift Mom left us. That’s why we’re both so passionate about our blogs. Our families, at times have thought we are crazy and we spend too much time on them, but to us they’re a piece of our Mom. When we read all your sweet comments, we feel Mom is smiling down on us saying, “See, I told you that you two would be blessed through your blogs.”

Many of you may not know that our Mom also started a blog. She titled it, Walking With The Lord. She started writing on July 6th, 2009 and her last post was written on July 31st, 2009. On August 6th she found out she had terminal cancer. Ironically she was literally walking with the Lord just a few months after starting her blog. If you would like to see a glimpse of our mother’s heart click here and read a few of her posts. She is why I continue to write and why I am passionate about growing closer to Jesus Christ.

Well, I hope you will continue to follow along with me on this journey! You have no idea how much you each mean to me. I read each comment and love, love, love hearing from you!

You are truly a blessing to me!
