Difficult Seasons-Take Another Step

It seems like each week I come to this place and ask why? I know life is a journey and there are times of joy but there are also times of sorrow.

Just this week, a friend found out that her 2 year old daughter has a malignant brain tumor. They operated and removed 95% of the tumor. They will have to do chemo and radiation to get rid of the 5% that was left. My heart aches for this family.

I sometimes wonder how we handle the difficult seasons but I’m reminded of this quote by Oswald Chambers….

Take Another Step

We can’t give up. We have to have faith that God is in control. Do the next thing!

When my daughter found out about this tragedy, she texted me, “Why is life so hard?” My answer was simply, “Because this is not our home. We are here to shine light in a dark world and we never know how long we have.”

We have no guarantees of tomorrow but we have today, so let’s shine His light!

The song, Take Another Step by Steven Curtis Chapman kept coming to my mind.

Basically, the song is saying one minute everything can seem perfect and the next minute there’s tragedy. What do we do? Take another step, and then another, and then another……

Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” Isaiah 30:21

I have a hard time posting fashion pictures on Sundays but since I committed to 31 days of summer fashion I’m going to do it. You know I wasn’t going to get through 31 days of summer fashion without wearing my chambray shirt.

Sunday Encouragement-Let’s Thrive!

I love how God’s word always speaks to me. I read this passage in Romans from the New Living Translation. It simply states what we need to be doing.

Sunday Encouragement-Let's Thrive!

I love this entire passage but specifically, “Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.” Do you have something today that troubles you. Let me remind you, KEEP ON PRAYING!!

We heard Casting Crowns in concert a few months ago. This is one of their newer songs, Thrive.

We were made for more than ordinary lives!! We were made to Thrive!!

Live Life To The Fullest!

I shared this quote yesterday morning on my facebook page. It’s a great reminder to live life to the fullest!

Live Life To The Fullest!

Courtney and Colt and I spent some time Saturday enjoying our sweet small town. We went to a Beef Festival and then headed to one of our favorites places and got an ice cream cone. A perfect way to spend a summer day!

Live Life To The Fullest!

Is our life perfect? No. Do we have disappointments and difficulties? Absolutely. Does anyone go through this life without some bumps and bruises?

But we believe each day is a gift and although the journey is not always easy, we’re counting our blessings and believing Romans 8:28, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

Today, savor the blessings and know that “This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!” Psalm 118:24

Sunday Inspiration

Happy first day of June! Wayne and I are not only back from New York but we’re back from his sabbatical. Today, we’re headed back to our church. I’ve missed our church family and can’t wait to worship with them today.

Last Sunday, Wayne and I worshipped at The Brooklyn Tabernacle. We’ve been there before and to be honest, unless you go, it’s hard to explain.

I don’t think I can adequately describe what worship is like at The Tab (that’s what they call it).

Sunday Inspiration

The choir is amazing and if you’ve ever read anything about the choir, the testimonies that many of them have are unbelievable.

On the flight home, I read Carol Cymbala’s book, He’s Been Faithful. It’s an easy read but she shares several testimonies from the people at The Brooklyn Tabernacle.

She also shares about the choir’s purpose, “Our ministry is to lead people to an encounter with Jesus Christ. For us, performance would be a giant step down.”

Believe me, you can tell they’re not performing. They mean the words they are singing.

If you ever have the opportunity to go to the church, I highly recommend it!

Of course, I thought I’d share a song from The Brooklyn Tabernacle choir. I love this song. No matter what comes our way in this life, let’s not lose our praise!

I’ve lost some good friends along life’s way
Some loved ones departed in Heaven to stay
But thank God I didn’t lose everything
I’ve lost faith in people who said they care
In the time of my crisis they were never there
But in my disappointment in my season of pain
One thing never wavered one thing never changed

CHORUS
I never lost my hope
I never lost my joy
I never lost my faith
But most of all
I never lost my praise

I’ve let some blessings slip away
When I lost my focus and went astray
But thank God i didn’t lose everything
I’ve lost possessions that was so dear
And I’ve lost some battles by walking in fear
But in the midst of my struggle, in the season of pain
One thing never wavered, one thing never changed

CHORUS
I never lost my hope
I never lost my joy
I never lost my faith
But most of all
I never lost my praise

Sunday Encouragement from New York

Happy Sunday friends! I hope you’re enjoying your Memorial Day weekend. Wayne and I are in New York City! We’re excited to be going to The Brooklyn Tabernacle today and getting to meet with Jim Cymbala, the pastor.

Wayne and I visited The Brooklyn Tabernacle several years ago and couldn’t wait to come back!

Jim Cymbala has written several books but one of our favorites is Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire. This is one of those life changing books. If you haven’t read it, you might want to add it to your summer reading list. You can find it here.

Of course we’re also going to do some sight seeing, and shopping. There’s so much to do! I’m sure I’ll be sharing a lot of pictures on Instagram.

What are your plans for this Memorial Day weekend?

I’ve been listening to this song all week. Have you ever gone through a difficult time in your life and as you looked back, you realized you were never alone? God was with you the whole time!

Have a blessed Sunday!

Sunday Inspiration-He Restores My Soul

I can’t believe this is the last Sunday in April! It’s been a fast month and I’m ready for May. Actually May is a big month for us.

Sunday Inspiration-He Restores My Soul

Wayne and I have been at our church for a little over 5 years. In case some of you don’t know, my husband is the senior pastor. I’m telling you this because every 5 years we get a month long Sabbatical.

A Sabbatical is a time of rest and refreshment. Today Wayne is preaching but will not have to preach again until June. It’s a much needed break and we are so thankful our church gives us this time away.

This past year has been a stressful year for our family and I know it’s been difficult for Wayne as he tries not only to minister and comfort our church family but truthfully he’s had to minister to us too.

So what will we be doing during his Sabbatical?

Well, we’re going to spend some time together! Yay! Ministry is draining and we both need some time “off”.

Sunday Inspiration-He Restores My Soul

Wayne has a stack of books he’s going to read, he’s going to fish and spend as much time outside as he can.

We’re also going to be visiting other churches. (We might be coming to your church! Ha!) It will be so nice to sit with my husband at church. It’s the little things.

We’re heading to New York to go to the Brooklyn Tabernacle church. Jim Cymabala is the pastor there and is a mentor to Wayne.

So that’s about it, I’ll still be blogging and I’m speaking to a group of women about inner beauty on May 17th.

I hope this didn’t bore you but it’s what’s going on in our life so I thought I would share it. :-) Do you have any big plans in May?

I’ve been listening to this song by Citizen Way. It’s a contemporary version of Amazing Grace. Can we ever have too much Amazing Grace?

Have a blessed Sunday!
